In order to examine interrelation among different types of financial markets i.e. Capital Market, derivative market, Money Market and Foreign Exchange market in short run, the basic data used in the study consist of four variables which are spot equity index rates, 3 month future equity index rates, repo rate, dollar/rupee exchange rate for the financial year 2014-2015. This paper has made an attempt to study the impact of Equity Spot Market on Forex, Money and Index Futures Market by using a simple regression analysis. The result indicates that the Spot Market has a significant impact on the Futures Market and Future Market is highly dependent on the Spot market. But the result of the regression analysis does not suggest the presence of significantly strong impact of Spot Market on Forex and Money Market. The study has also made an attempt to understand the causal link between Capital Market, Monet Market, Forex and Futures Market using univariate Granger Causality, but did not find any evidence for the existence of causal link between these segments of the Financial Market.

Given the growing movement of capital flows, particularly short-term capital, into the domestic financial markets, it is necessary to examine this issue so as to reap the positive benefits with having stable markets. For this purpose, the present study examines this issue in the post-1991 period by using monthly data on call money rates, 91 day Treasury Bill rates, Indian Rupee/US dollar exchange rates, and the London Inter Bank Offered Rate (LIBOR). By using a multiple co-integration approach, the study found that there is a strong integration of the domestic call money market with the LIBOR. Though, the study found that there is a long-term co-movement between domestic foreign exchange market and LIBOR, it is not robust. This may be due to frequent intervention by the Central Bank in the foreign exchange market. As the Government securities market in India is still in the developing stage, it was not found to be integrated with the international market. Policy measures (or reforms) are necessary to increase integration of financial markets. This would help in reducing the arbitrage advantage in some specific segment of the financial markets.

The study, while exploring the presence and nature of momentum trading on the Indian stock market in recent years, seeks to relate it to significant structural breaks in the Indian or global economy. To be precise, it outlines a potential correlation between the instability in the stock market and the speculative trading on the market, exploring the question of whether it is human psychology that drives financial markets. In the process, the choice of a significant structural break has been obvious: the global financial meltdown of 2007-2008 – a crisis that has often been referred to as the worst ever since the crash of 1929. While analyzing the nature of momentum trading on the Indian stock market with regard to the financial crisis of 2007-08, the study takes into account two major representatives of the market, the BSE (Bombay Stock Index) and NSE (National Stock Index), for the period 2005 to 2012. This study seeks to answer a few important questions. First of all, it tries to unveil the underlying structure of the market. In doing so, it examines the following issues: (i) What was the latent structure of the Indian stock market leading up to the crisis of 2007-08? Does the structure offer insights into designing profitable trading strategies? (ii) Is it possible to construct a profitable portfolio on the Indian stock market? (iii) Is there any profitable trading strategy on the Indian stock market? While exploring these issues, the study delves deeper, breaking the whole period down into two sub-periods, before the crisis of 2008 and after the crisis. The purpose of this division is to determine whether there has been any discernible change in the market structure since the shock.

Given India's fast-growing economic influence, research on the Indian stock market still seems to be inadequate and needs further investigation. The present study extends the existing stock market integration literature in the following ways. First, to provide further evidence, we examine the dynamic price linkages and interdependence between the stock market of India and that of the U.S., U.K., Japan, Singapore, Honk Kong, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, and China using daily stock price indices data covering the period January 2, 2001 to November 28, 2008. Second, this research examines examine the long-term and short-term dynamic relationship among the stock prices using Johansen-Juselius cointegration, vector error correction model and Granger causality test. Additionally, the innovation accounting analysis is conducted to further investigate the interactions between the Indian markets and others world markets. And lastly, the results from this research provide implications regarding international diversification and market efficiency that are important for investors and fund managers who are interested in investing in these markets. From the study, we can conclude that, Indian market is having a cointegrating relationship with US financial market. But relationship with other financial markets is not well established.
