Book Synopsis A Summative Evaluation of Computer Assisted Instruction in US Army Basic Electronics Training by : Alexander A. Longo
Download or read book A Summative Evaluation of Computer Assisted Instruction in US Army Basic Electronics Training written by Alexander A. Longo and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report is an extension of the feasibility and follow-up studies on computer assisted instruction (CAI). It represents the culmination of an intense effort to determine whether the CAI effort is not only a feasible but a viable approach in teaching basic electronics in the US Army. The report is oriented towards demonstrating the viability of CAI in coping with a large block (102 hrs) of such material under real-time training conditions. This evaluation is a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of CAI as a teaching system relative to the current conventional mode of instruction. Included is evidence on achievement, time to complete course material and attitudes toward CAI. (Author).
Book Synopsis Relationships Between Student Attitudes Toward Computer-assisted Instruction and Training Performance by : Bruce W. Knerr
Download or read book Relationships Between Student Attitudes Toward Computer-assisted Instruction and Training Performance written by Bruce W. Knerr and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The attitudes of 90 enlisted personnel toward Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) were measured before and after they received instruction presented by CAI. The attitude pretest and posttest were administered on line. The instructional material was divided into four lesson segments, each followed by a review (test) segment. Students who failed to reach the criterion score for any review segment repeated the corresponding lesson segment. A criterion test was administered at the end of the last segment. Measures of student performance used during the course of the instruction were: (a) the total score on the criterion test (total score); (b) the number of errors made during the lesson and review segments (errors); (c) the percentage of responses made during the lesson and review segments that were incorrect (percent errors); (d) the time required to complete the lesson and review segments (time); and (e) the number of review segments failed (review failures). The attitudes pretest did not correlate significantly with any of the performance measures. A significant correlation was obtained between attitude posttest and percent errors (r = -.22). Attitude change was correlated with total score (r = .28), errors (r = -.19), and percent errors (r = -.25). Attitude and attitude change were not related to student ability. (Author).

Book Synopsis Development and Evaluation of Computer Assisted Instruction for Navy Electronics Training:1. Alternating Current Fundamentals by : John D Ford (Jr)
Download or read book Development and Evaluation of Computer Assisted Instruction for Navy Electronics Training:1. Alternating Current Fundamentals written by John D Ford (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report presents results of development and evaluation of the first computer assisted instruction (CAI) course segment for basic electronics. Following student tryout and revision the CAI segment was evaluated by comparing achievement and time scores of students who received training on the CAI segment with students who received normal classroom training. Fifty-one students were randomly selected from classes and assigned to CAI training, and the remaining 200 students in these classes served as the control group. At the end of training both groups took the standard school examination on this segment and a supplementary test which covered school objectives not tested by the particular school examinations in use at the time. Book Synopsis Computer-assisted Instruction by : Esther R. Steinberg
Download or read book Computer-assisted Instruction written by Esther R. Steinberg and published by Routledge. This book was released on 1991 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a theoretical framework and background for designing computer-assisted instruction (CAI). Its goal is to synthesize theoretical and applied research in CAI-relevant fields including theories of learning and instruction, systems for instructional design, and experience with CAI. Building on this knowledge, the book shows how computer technology interacts with instruction to influence the design of effective lessons. Designers, practitioners, and students of CAI and computer-based training (CBT) should find this text very helpful in developing a better understanding of the potential and limitations of computers as tutors.
