This book was released on 1962 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A review is made of some of the experimental data and recent analyses applicable to predicting void fractions with two-phase, steam-water flow through tubes and channels. An empirical equation is presented that closely approximates experimentally measured void fractions in terms of the fluid quality and the ratio of the density of the fluid phases. Correlation of the data is achieved over a range of fluid pressures from 1 to over 135 atmospheres and fluid qualities from 0 to 1.0.

This book was released on 2020-03-15 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides design engineers using gas-liquid two-phase flow in different industrial applications the necessary fundamental understanding of the two-phase flow variables. Two-phase flow literature reports a plethora of correlations for determination of flow patterns, void fraction, two- phase pressure drop and non-boiling heat transfer correlations. However, the validity of a majority of these correlations is restricted over a narrow range of two -phase flow conditions. Consequently, it is quite a challenging task for the end user to select an appropriate correlation/model for the type of two-phase flow under consideration. Selection of a correct correlation also requires some fundamental understanding of the two-phase flow physics and the underlying principles/assumptions/limitations associated with these correlations. Thus, it is of significant interest for a design engineer to have knowledge of the flow patterns and their transitions and their influence on two-phase flow variables. To address some of these issues and facilitate selection of appropriate two-phase flow models, this volume presents a succinct review of the flow patterns, void fraction, pressure drop and non-boiling heat transfer phenomenon and recommend some of the well scrutinized modeling techniques.
Book Synopsis Contribution to the Theory of Two-phase, One-component Critical Flow by : Hans K. Fauske
Download or read book Contribution to the Theory of Two-phase, One-component Critical Flow written by Hans K. Fauske and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Equipment was built where critical-flow data above 100 psia were obtained and a theory developed that predicts the experimental values satisfactorily. Theoretical expressions for the specific volume, void fraction, and slip ratio for critical steam-water mixtures have been derived. Therefore, the first complete analytical solution was made possible for estimating the critical two-phase flow rate, including slip between the two phases. The pressure profiles for runs at critical flow were all characterized by extremely steep pressure gradients near the throat; however, the pressure gradients are definitely finite and approach absolute maximum values, these depending only upon critical flow rate and quality. Sonic velocities are not achieved in critical two-phase flow of steam-water mixtures.

Download or read book Frontiers and Progress in Multiphase Flow I written by Lixin Cheng and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-04-09 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents state-of-the-art of reviews in the field of multiphase flow. In focusses on nonlinear aspects of multiphase flow networks as well as visualization experiments. The first chapter presents nonlinear aspects or deterministic chaos issues in the systems of multi-phase reactors. The second chapter reviews two-phase flow dynamics in combination with complex network theory. The third chapter discusses evaporation mechanism in the wick of copper heat pipes. The last chapter investigates numerically the flow dynamics and heat and mass transfer in the laminar and turbulent boundary layer on the flat vertical plate.

Download or read book Laminar Flow Forced Convection in Ducts written by R. K. Shah and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Laminar Flow Forced Convection in Ducts is a sourcebook for compact heat exchanger analytical data. This book describes the analytical solutions for laminar fluid flow and forced convection heat transfer in circular and noncircular pipes, including applicable differential equations and boundary conditions involving velocity and temperature problems of fluid flow. The book also discusses fluid flow—how much power is required to pump fluids through the heat exchanger, as well as the heat transfer—the determination of q" distribution, and the temperature of fluid and walls. The text also analyzes the coolant or heat transfer fluid flows in a nuclear power reactor composed of a bundle of circular section fuel rods located inside a round tube. R.A. Axford addresses fluid flow and heat transfers results for the rod bundle geometry in "Heat Transfer in Rod Bundles." The book also provides an overview and guidelines that can be used for the designer and the applied mathematician. This book is suitable for engineers working in electronics, aerospace, instrumentation, and biomechanics that use cooling or heating exchanges or solar collection systems.
