Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Would you like to learn how to read the astrology chart to gain a deeper understanding of your psychological strengths and weaknesses? Perhaps you are a therapist and wish to use this depth of knowledge to assist in developing strategies for emotional healing? This is not just another introduction to astrology book, rather, it takes you on a journey to show you how astrology and psychology complement each other. Retired psychologist and astrologer Noel Eastwood, draws upon a lifetime of study, practice and research to give you a readable and relatable book on the psychology of astrology for astrologers and the astrology of psychology for psychologists. This book is, firstly, a manual for the astrologer who wants to embark on their own journey of discovery but doesn’t know where to start. Secondly, it can be used by the experienced astrologer who wants to know more about the key astrological significators that are correlated with psychological disorders and how to apply it in their readings. Thirdly, it is for the psychotherapist who would like to better understand their client’s needs. One thing is certain this book will make you hungry to learn more of the psychological principles that form the foundations of modern astrology. Includes a discussion of synastry charts and inherited family traits; what aspects trigger people to seek counselling; how you might apply psychotherapy in your astrology practice; locating the astrological significators for conflict and complexes; ADD and ADHD; astrological significators for teenage depression and suicidal thoughts; psychological disorders as a spectrum of neurological symptoms; planetary aspects and shapes; the power of the elements and modes; clues to your spiritual path in your astrology chart; the powerful Saturn cycle; the amazing Air Fire phenomenon; using Jungian archetype meditations to support your personal mystic quest. "This book is Noel's latest and I love it. I admit I am a little jealous as he has accomplished with this book what I would have loved to have done. It is much harder than you would expect to write a basic book on astrology as the information available is vast. But here, Noel has managed to introduce astrologers to psychology and psychologists to astrology successfully. You will find it a simple book, after all it is an introduction, but at the same time incredibly complex. The fundamental knowledge is all there interwoven with mythology, mysticism, meditations, advice and practical applications. This book is an absolute ‘must have’ for every astrologer’s (and psychologist’s) library." Chris Turner, astrologer. Book excerpt: Winner of the IAJS award for best authored book of 2018! C. G. Jung had a profound interest in and involvement with astrology, which he made clear in virtually every volume of the Collected Works, as well as in many of his letters. This ancient symbolic system was of primary importance in his understanding of the nature of time, the archetypes, synchronicity, and human fate. Jung’s Studies in Astrology is an historical survey of his astrological work from the time he began to study the subject. It is based not only on his published writings, but also on the correspondence and documents found in his private archives, many of which have never previously seen the light of day. Liz Greene addresses with thoroughness and detailed scholarship the nature of Jung’s involvement with astrology: the ancient, medieval, and modern sources he drew on, the individuals from whom he learned, his ideas about how and why it worked, its religious and philosophical implications, and its applications in the treatment of his patients as well as in his own self-understanding. Greene clearly demonstrates that any serious effort to understand the development of Jung’s psychological theories, as well as the nature of his world-view, needs to involve a thorough exploration of his astrological work. This thorough investigation of a central theme in Jung’s work will appeal to analytical psychologists and Jungian psychotherapists, students and academics of Jungian and post-Jungian theory, the history of psychology, archetypal thought, mythology and folklore, the history of New Age movements, esotericism, and psychological astrology.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of all the branches of astrology, it is probably "synastry" – the technique of comparing the birth charts of two or more persons – that most fascinates those who practice astrology today. This is the first book to deal thoroughly with the basic purpose and techniques of chart comparison in clear, contemporary terms. Going beyond the simplistic popular methods which compare only sun signs, Michael Meyer's humanistic approach to synastry offers a responsible tool for understanding the mutually constructive aspects of any relationship. The Astrology of Relationship introduces the concept of "relationship" with a brief overview of its place in traditional astrological practice and its relation to certain Eastern Philosophical concepts. Explaining the significance of planets, houses and signs in determining personal compatibility, Meyer offers a step-by-step technique for chart comparison, including full instructions for casting and interpreting zodiacal contact, house contact, and composite charts. To demonstrate the methods described, the book concludes with synastric analyses of three important relationships in history: Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung; George Sand and Frederic Chopin; and founders of the Theosophical Society, Madame Blavatsky and Henry Olcott. Michael R. Meyer is the author of A Handbook for the Humanistic Astrologer and The Astrology of Change: Horary Astrology and its Humanistic Applications.

Book excerpt: This unique book is the first of two volumes that describe a new, transpersonal model for therapeutic work on dreams. Dream Sociometry, a form of Integral Deep Listening (IDL) life drama and dream character interviewing, contributes to the fields of application of the sociometric methods of J.L. Moreno and the use of sociometry in therapy, to support and direct personal development. The book describes an experiential, multi-perspectival integral life practice through accessing "emerging potentials," or perspectives that integrate, transcend, and include one's current context and predicament. Dream Sociometry provides a thoroughly phenomenological approach, suspending interpretation as well as assumptions about the reality and usefulness of synchronicities, mystical experiences, waking accidents, dreams, and nightmares, in favour of listening to dream characters and personifications of important life issues in a respectful and integral way. It thereby provides an important doorway to both causal and non-dual awareness by accessing perspectives that personify both, and will open doors for those interested not only in dream research, but in reducing anxiety disorders, such as phobias and post-traumatic stress disorders, and seeing through the often literal and concrete interpretations that we often give both physical and mental illness as well as mystical experiences. Offering a fresh and unique approach to both dreamwork and self-development through sociometric methodologies, this book will be of interest to researchers in the fields of psychodrama, sociometry, group psychotherapy, transpersonal, experiential and action therapies, as well as postgraduate students studying psychology and sociology.

Book excerpt: A classic guide to expanding perception and consciousness development • Explores six ancient yet timeless systems for exploring the mind: the I Ching, Tantra, Tarot, astrology, alchemy, and the yoga philosophy of Actualism • Shares exercises from each system and illuminates the key stages in the journey of consciousness development • Shows how each of these disciplines can help you become a fully aware and conscious participant in your own spiritual evolution In this highly acclaimed classic, psychedelic elder Ralph Metzner presents a guide to six ancient systems, once known only to the initiated few, to expand awareness and free your consciousness from exterior limitations and cultural conditioning. Metzner begins with the I Ching, revered by the Chinese as the oldest and wisest book in the world. He explains how it reveals change as the evolutionary constant and offers a hands-on method of divination and guidance. He explores the Hindu and Buddhist Tantras of medieval India, ancient practices celebrating the union of male and female energies that transmute ordinary sense experience into ecstatic ritual worship. He examines the Tarot, revealing how the cards act as culture-transcending mirrors, bringing us through worlds of darkness and light in a complex journey. He looks at the practice of alchemy, explaining how it is a “psychic chemistry” of inner union through which we can transform planetary and cosmic energies. He explores the esoteric aspects of astrology, revealing the rhythmic cycles of the planets and how their phases may be experienced in terms of motion and emotion. He then examines in depth the yoga philosophy of Actualism, centered on the techniques of Agni Yoga, which allow you to use your living “inner fire” to illuminate the shadow parts of consciousness and burn out that which obstructs the free flow of energy. With a new foreword by UC Berkeley professor of neurobiology David E. Presti and featuring all of the original diagrams, this edition of Metzner’s classic text shows how each of these disciplines can help the modern individual become a fully aware and conscious participant in their own spiritual evolution.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What will the future bring? The ancient astrologer turned the impulse to answer this question into something meaningful by mapping the night skies and attempting to see in the movement of planets and stars an impact on human lives. But did all astrologers see the same night sky? Did the observations of the Hindu astrologer match those of the Greek? How did the Egyptians and the Chinese understand the influence of the Sun and the Moon on our lives? Over the centuries, as astrology developed and evolved, it also seeped into our philosophies, religions, literature and arts. And it grew and shape-shifted in step with the times. Whereas the ancient astrologer was as much seer as astronomer, the modern counterpart is a tech-savvy innovator. Heavens and Earth examines the history of astrology, its many different systems and its development as a modern cultural phenomenon. Deeply researched and expertly narrated, the book contextualises the role of astrology in the ever-evolving human perspective of the cosmos and in understanding our place in it.

This book was released on 2017-03-11 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Being a clinical psychologist, author brings his knowledge of psychological complexes in astrology. For him the science of astrology has a lot more to offer than just future telling. AstroPsychology can be a potent tool for assessment of the personality traits and mental state of an individual. An AstroPsychologist's job is a lot like that of a counsellor and understanding of astrology can help even a trained psychologist to see the world as the subject himself does. The author made extensive research in AstroPsychology in last five years. As the results of his research, he could find some new insights about the correlations between astrology and psychology, and develop some accurate rules for identifying the mental illness. This book is the result of the same research and brings out some astonishing findings in the field of AstroPsychology. AstroPsychology is relatively a new subject. This is an effort to apply the wisdom of astrology to the new born modern psychology and develop a better understanding of human behaviour. What makes it a hot topic of discussion is its promise to be capable of bringing positive changes in human behaviour and personality. Astrology in itself is a very wide subject and can be applied to all faces of human life and even to all faces of life in general. Psychology, in the west, finds its roots in philosophy and metaphysics. But one may question if there was no system to understand the human mind and human behaviour for thousands of years. Didn't our forefathers ever need to understand it? Or they never questioned how it was happening. Just thinking it logically would reveal that for sure there were systems to explain all of it and even cure the mental illnesses. The only difference was that they were not called psychology. Jung was one of those modern geniuses who saw it very early that there were many other ancient systems too that were equivalent to psychology and could explain the causes of human behaviour in one way or other. Astrology is a kind of psychology in itself and actually a lot more than that. It is the traditional system of understanding human personality in a very intense manner and it also addresses the relationship dynamics of a person with his parents, wife, children other family members and society at large. And not just dynamics but also the development and changes in these relationships from time to time. But then its name is astrology, so it also addresses thousand many more things about a human being than just what psychology is expected to do. The present book is the result of author's research spanning more than 4 years where the author tried to find awe inspiring correlation between astrology and human behavior. These findings were carefully noted and then verified again and again. As an author I don't claim this book to be the final word on AstroPsychology, or this book to be a complete work, but I sincerely hope that this book will inspire future researches and thoughts in scientifically fertile minds in years to come.
