This book was released on 2020-08-19 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Studies of fluid flow and heat transfer in a porous medium have been the subject of continuous interest for the past several decades because of the wide range of applications, such as geothermal systems, drying technologies, production of thermal isolators, control of pollutant spread in groundwater, insulation of buildings, solar power collectors, design of nuclear reactors, and compact heat exchangers, etc. There are several models for simulating porous media such as the Darcy model, Non-Darcy model, and non-equilibrium model. In porous media applications, such as the environmental impact of buried nuclear heat-generating waste, chemical reactors, thermal energy transport/storage systems, the cooling of electronic devices, etc., a temperature discrepancy between the solid matrix and the saturating fluid has been observed and recognized.

This book was released on 2017-02-26 with total page 620 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Applications of Nanofluid for Heat Transfer Enhancement explores recent progress in computational fluid dynamic and nonlinear science and its applications to nanofluid flow and heat transfer. The opening chapters explain governing equations and then move on to discussions of free and forced convection heat transfers of nanofluids. Next, the effect of nanofluid in the presence of an electric field, magnetic field, and thermal radiation are investigated, with final sections devoted to nanofluid flow in porous media and application of nanofluid for solidification. The models discussed in the book have applications in various fields, including mathematics, physics, information science, biology, medicine, engineering, nanotechnology, and materials science. - Presents the latest information on nanofluid free and force convection heat transfer, of nanofluid in the presence of thermal radiation, and nanofluid in the presence of an electric field - Provides an understanding of the fundamentals in new numerical and analytical methods - Includes codes for each modeling method discussed, along with advice on how to best apply them

Book Synopsis Numerical Methods for Bifurcation Problems and Large-Scale Dynamical Systems by : Eusebius Doedel
Download or read book Numerical Methods for Bifurcation Problems and Large-Scale Dynamical Systems written by Eusebius Doedel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) devoted its 1997-1998 program to Emerging Applications of Dynamical Systems. Dynamical systems theory and related numerical algorithms provide powerful tools for studying the solution behavior of differential equations and mappings. In the past 25 years computational methods have been developed for calculating fixed points, limit cycles, and bifurcation points. A remaining challenge is to develop robust methods for calculating more complicated objects, such as higher- codimension bifurcations of fixed points, periodic orbits, and connecting orbits, as well as the calcuation of invariant manifolds. Another challenge is to extend the applicability of algorithms to the very large systems that result from discretizing partial differential equations. Even the calculation of steady states and their linear stability can be prohibitively expensive for large systems (e.g. 10_3- -10_6 equations) if attempted by simple direct methods. Several of the papers in this volume treat computational methods for low and high dimensional systems and, in some cases, their incorporation into software packages. A few papers treat fundamental theoretical problems, including smooth factorization of matrices, self -organized criticality, and unfolding of singular heteroclinic cycles. Other papers treat applications of dynamical systems computations in various scientific fields, such as biology, chemical engineering, fluid mechanics, and mechanical engineering.
Book Synopsis Similarity Solutions for the Boundary Layer Flow and Heat Transfer of Viscous Fluids, Nanofluids, Porous Media, and Micropolar Fluids by : John H. Merkin
Download or read book Similarity Solutions for the Boundary Layer Flow and Heat Transfer of Viscous Fluids, Nanofluids, Porous Media, and Micropolar Fluids written by John H. Merkin and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2021-09-09 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Similarity Solutions for the Boundary Layer Flow and Heat Transfer of Viscous Fluids, Nanofluids, Porous Media, and Micropolar Fluids presents new similarity solutions for fluid mechanics problems, including heat transfer of viscous fluids, boundary layer flow, flow in porous media, and nanofluids due to continuous moving surfaces. After discussing several examples of these problems, similarity solutions are derived and solved using the latest proven methods, including bvp4c from MATLAB, the Keller-box method, singularity methods, and more. Numerical solutions and asymptotic results for limiting cases are also discussed in detail to investigate how flow develops at the leading edge and its end behavior. Detailed discussions of mathematical models for boundary layer flow and heat transfer of micro-polar fluid and hybrid nanofluid will help readers from a range of disciplinary backgrounds in their research. Relevant background theory will also be provided, thus helping readers solidify their computational work with a better understanding of physical phenomena. - Provides mathematical models that address important research themes, such as boundary layer flow and heat transfer of micro-polar fluid and hybrid nanofluid - Gives detailed numerical explanations of all solution procedures, including bvp4c from MATLAB, the Keller-box method, and singularity methods - Includes examples of computer code that will save readers time in their own work

Book Synopsis Magnetoviscous Effects in Ferrofluids by : Stefan Odenbach
Download or read book Magnetoviscous Effects in Ferrofluids written by Stefan Odenbach and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-07-01 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Suspensions of magnetic nanoparticles or ferrofluids can be effectively controlled by magnetic fields, which opens up a fascinating field for basic research into fluid dynamics as well as a host of applications in engineering and medicine. The introductory chapter provides the reader with basic information on the structure, and magnetic and viscous properties of ferrofluids. The bulk of this monograph is based on the author's own research activity and deals with ferrohydrodynamics, especially with the magnetoviscous effects. In particular, the author studies in detail the interparticle interactions so far often neglected but of great importance in concentrated ferrofluids. The basic theory and the most recent experimental findings are presented, making the book interesting reading for physicists or engineers interested in smart materials.
