Specializing in flying effects, he has worked on a number of high profile feature films including Superman, the Movie for which he received an Oscar and a BAFTA award. He has written several books on Visual Effects Cinematography and directed feature films as well as children's TV series. His passion for flying extends beyond visual effects - he holds a private pilot's licence and enjoys every opportunity to take to the air. He peeks out from under the bed-covers and sees the disc hovering inches from his face. He discovers that the disc is in fact a miniature spacecraft complete with an alien pilot and an on-board "all-knowing" computer. He gives the name Freddy to the whimsical, thumb-sized pilot of this strange craft that has crash-landed on earth. With Freddy at the controls Peter is able to fly by placing one hand on the disc and soon they become embroiled in a series of hair-raising adventures much to the annoyance of the computer who is trying to arrange a rescue from this "hostile planet". But someone with a sinister plan of their own is lurking in the shadows, watching... Someone whose scheme involves the smuggling of exotic birds and who would stop at nothing to get hold of the disc. With the help of Andreas - a local paraplegic boy, and Scruffy - a disheveled Scarlet Macaw, they set out on a daring mission to save a bird sanctuary.
