Book Synopsis A New Approach to Resilient Hospitality Management by : Yoshinori Hara
Download or read book A New Approach to Resilient Hospitality Management written by Yoshinori Hara and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-04-26 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book includes lessons and insights from the hospitality management approach of Japanese sustainable organizations, as well as philosophical underpinnings and numerous business practice examples. The "Japanese manner" of providing customer service and hospitality is well-known around the globe. Traditionally, Japanese organizations have specific but implicit standards for how to approach customers and other multi-stakeholders, exhibiting respect and omnipresence. Japanese hospitality is complicated, nuanced, and changing in tandem with Japanese culture. The book presents sustainable and resilient management of society, organizations, and businesses. Kyoto, in particular, is regarded as Japan's cultural capital, and it is home to not only numerous architectures classified collectively by UNESCO, but also to distinctive Japanese hospitality, customs, philosophy, and ethics. The book is a useful resource for academics and business practitioners interested in the hospitality management, service management, and human resource management. The lessons and insights in this book will also throw light on the future course of the post-pandemic era with modern technologies and their transformation.
Download or read book Japanese Law written by J. Mark Ramseyer and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1999-02-02 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this clear and very readable introduction to Japanese law, J. Mark Ramseyer and Minoru Nakazato employ an economic approach to challenge commonly held ideas about the Japanese legal system. While many studies assume that Japanese law differs fundamentally from the law in the United States, this work shows the essential similarity between the two. Arguing against the idea that law plays only a trivial role in Japan or is culturally determined, the authors demonstrate that standard economic models go far to explain why Japanese law has the shape it does.

Book Synopsis Translating and Incorporating American Management Thought into Japan by : Izumi Mitsui
Download or read book Translating and Incorporating American Management Thought into Japan written by Izumi Mitsui and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-10-11 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the establishment process of the Japanese style of management (JSM). Traditionally, it has been widely believed that the JSM is native to Japan and consists of three pillars: lifetime employment, a seniority-based wage system, and company unions. This book opposes these traditional views on the JSM and argues that it has been shaped by the influence of management theories and ideas of other countries. The JSM has not only adopted the ideas and concepts of other countries, but also has refined, translated, and customized them to make such ideas and concepts acceptable in Japan. The hypothesis presented here is that in the postwar period of rapid growth, the JSM was a hybrid set of management theories and techniques greatly influenced by American ideas about management. This book concentrates on the impact of American management theories and ideas on the JSM. Taking the historical point of view, it clarifies that impact not only for academics but also for business people. The hypothesis propounded here is that some of those theories and ideas have been accepted whereas some of them have been rejected and eventually made irrelevant. The following issues are discussed: scientific management, the human relations school, Barnard’s organizational theory, Drucker’s management thoughts, strategic management, human resource management, and corporate culture.
