Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In God's Ambassadors E. Brooks Holifield masterfully traces the history of America's Christian clergy from the seventeenth to the twenty-first century, analyzing the changes in practice and authority that have transformed the clerical profession. Challenging one-sided depictions of decline in clerical authority, Holifield locates the complex story of the clergy within the context not only of changing theologies but also of transitions in American culture and society. The result is a thorough social history of the profession that also takes seriously the theological presuppositions that have informed clerical activity. With alternating chapters on Protestant and Catholic clergy, the book permits sustained comparisons between the two dominant Christian traditions in American history. At the same time, God's Ambassadors depicts a vocation that has remained deeply ambivalent regarding the professional status marking the other traditional learned callings in the American workplace. Changing expectations about clerical education, as well as enduring theological questions, have engendered a debate about the professional ideal that has distinguished the clerical vocation from such fields as law and medicine. The American clergy from the past four centuries constitute a colorful, diverse cast of characters who have, in ways both obvious and obscure, helped to shape the tone of American culture. For a well-rounded narrative of their story told by a master historian, God's Ambassadors is the book to read.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by myself and inspired by God's Holy Spirit, this book is designed to uplift the reader's spirits and confidence. There are fourteen inspired chapters depicting God's gracious plans that are used to enhance Christ-like growth. The first seven chapters represent Gods holy number Seven. Seven represents God's completion. My life-lived testimony has allowed me to relate to many afflicted men and women. The accumulated power that God has invested in my life motivates me to pray for complete wholeness for the body of Christ. Together, we can accomplish God's perfect will and purpose for our lives. The goal of this book is to teach, inform, correct and edify those who are dedicated to becoming mature Christians. From the beginning of time our omnipotent God, who is all-powerful, has established the structure of dominionship, which is essential to the body of Christ. God the Father and the Son of God Jesus, are co-equal, as is the Holy Spirit. These three-in-one have power and full dominionship over all creation. As you study God's Word, you will see that God had given authority to man (Adam) on earth; man gave it to Lucifer; Lucifer gave it back to man (Jesus); and now though Jesus Christ our Lord we the Church have free range to rule and reign in this earth. We, the chosen vessels of God, must realize that we have power in Christ to be victorious over Satan. Satan only comes seeking to steal, kill and destroy all righteousness lived in Christ. As you read this God inspired book, my prayer is that you will claim and walk in your own dominionship and use the power given to you by God though our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory and honor goes to God Andre Valentino Curtis

Many people in general, and even Christians admittedly avoid the subject of pain almost as much as they avoid pain itself. But once you understand the purpose of pain, you can make the most of the painful experiences in life. In The Furnace of Affliction: How God Uses Our Pain and Suffering for His Purpose, Horace Williams, Jr. tackles this challenging topic. Based on the Word of God, insights from other leaders, and his studies, he addresses several key points, including: How pain develops our faith How pain determines our path How pain delivers comfort, joy, and peace And how pain deepens our commitment to God. Packed with personal stories and scripture to support his points, Horace shares his insights on the problem of pain. His candid and straightforward communication style engages the reader as he addresses this critical topic for the body of Christ today.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever had anyone tell you something that wasn't true? As we feast on God's Word on a daily basis and as we meditate on what we study, we grow spiritually. This is our best hope to be victorious in our walk with Christ in this wicked world. We have put some lessons together to help us learn some truths that God has revealed to us and apply them to our lives, then we can be conformed to His dear Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. We will never know all-only God does. There are so many false doctrines being taught throughout the world. There is only one true Christ. There is only one Lord; there is only one God. If mankind will realize there is only one hope for salvation-and that is Jesus- then he must believe in Christ and repent his sins so that he can qualify to go to heaven.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The parable of the Prodigal Son speaks of the wayward son coming to his right mind while working among the pigs. Unfortunately, many people don't have a right mind to come to because they have not had Godly people in their lives to teach them what is right. Words like faith, hope, and love often don't have much meaning to people unless someone has provided them with examples. Ambassadors in the Making provides examples of what it means to follow Christ's commandments to serve, trust, and be generous. These examples allow people to reclaim the holy existence God has already given them. This book tells the stories of two ministries on opposite sides of the world that both transformed lives of individuals who were once spiritually lost. The transition houses, orphanages, schools, and hospitals in the ministries are considered Embassies of Heaven, outposts in a foreign land, staffed by Ambassadors for Christ. Readers will be inspired to become Ambassadors who partner with the Holy Spirit to enable the hurting souls around them to become all that they were created to be.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Apostle Paul, in exercising his ineffable wisdom, draws this magnificent letter to a close in an extraordinary manner. Certainly, he could have concluded it after telling the masters and servants how to treat one another. But, no, he did not. He proceeded to challenge them to become Christ's Ambassadors and to be proficient in this high calling, despite the daily obstacles, pressures, and temptations. What does Paul boldly state after having told Christ's followers, [t]hat we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight (trickery) of men and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive? That they will have a life of ease, no problems or worries, and no challenges, disappointments, or hardships? No! But, he did tell them how to conduct themselves in all of life's different phases. Further, that they were to walk in love, as Christ hath also loved us, and that not everyone hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Paul, contra to the practice today of many preachers, teachers, and church officers, knew the problems that Christ's followers faced and he boldly addressed them. He unequivocally stated that there were things appointed for them to do. Knowing these things and the difficulties encountered in following Christ, he issued a battle call to each and every follower, saying, take (up) unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. Paul was forthright in describing the benefits and challenges of Walking With Jesus as well as the attitude, conduct, and conversation precluding one from entering the kingdom of Christ and God. If we are to be Christ's Ambassadors, whether it be preacher, teacher, church officer, or professing Christian, we are to know our duties and carry them out resolutely. What are they? They include, but are not limited to: discharging their duties honorably; being loyal subjects; following instructions; knowing the Word; and obeying Christ's commands. May we, along with Paul, pray the following with humility and sincerity: For which I am an ambassador . . . that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak as one of His ambassadors

Book excerpt: Teens' Guide to Identity from FamilyLife All teens wrestle with the question "Who am I?" and wonder, What makes me special? Though these questions linger for life, they are most intense in the teen years, where confusion, awkwardness, and a desperate grab for identity reign. So how does a young person answer these critical questions? Where do young men and women find their significance, worth, and value? True Identity is perfect for parents and youth workers to give to the teenagers (14-16) in their lives to help them in their journey. Drawing on experiences and wisdom from a wide array of experts, the book provides compassionate answers to help teens discover who they really are, emphasizing their identity in Christ above all other ways our culture defines them. As the book walks teens through the steps to make their faith their own, it highlights healthy independence and God-honoring relationships. The Passport2Identity curriculum launched in April 2016, and True Identity is its trade book companion.

Book excerpt: God did not create us for us; God created us for Himself. From the time we accept Christ as Lord and Savior until we physically die; what do we do? We keep the Charge of the Lord; that is what we do. This charge is also The Law of the Kingdom. The Law of The Kingdom is Love. We are to love the Lord with all of our heart, soul, mind, and with all of our strength and we are to love our neighbor as we love our self. Love is patient and love is kind. God is Love. If it aint love it is just noise. God, in his Word, instructs us to use Love as our battering ram against the gates of hell; He has declared that they shall not prevail against us. The Bible is our only instruction manual on how to live this life inside the Kingdom of God while still on earth. Gods people are perishing due to lack of knowledge not weakness. It is our obligation and duty to the King, to learn what we are to do and to do it with all of our might. This book is designed to help us to live that Charge of The Lord, by committing our hearts (minds) to live in obedience to The Law of The Kingdom, Love.
