This massive work is full of Amazing Epic Stories, Amazing Vedic Wisdom Series, and Amazing Stories of Kathasaritsagara. This Amazing Stories of Samaveda is a part of them. In this work the Diviners, Ganga, Parvati, Ekaparna, and Ekapatala reached Kanakachala Temple in the 'Mesmerizing' Shambala, the Kingdom of Shiva to acquire the highest knowledge of Vedas, like in any Incarnation beginning with an initiation ceremony of education. As the story moves, the Diviners saw that Nandiswra chanting Shiva Tandava, a vigorous dance that is the source of the cycle of creation, preservation, and dissolution. He explained on the Lasya dance preformed by Parvati denoting happiness, grace, and beauty. As the moved forward, Sevita Sivani explained everything about classical dances in the Natya Mandira. The Divine Goddess Saraswati directed the Samaveda Priya to teach everything about Veda of Melodies and Chants. Samaveda Priya imparts the Rigveda set to music as well Samaveda samhita not meant to be read as a text, it is like a musical score sheet that must be heard. In addition to singing and chanting, mentions instruments. The rules and suggestions for playing various instruments form a separate compilation, called the Gandharva-Veda, and this Upaveda. This field of study was central to the composition of the Vedas. This includes, Amazing Chants, Melodies, Ragas, Tala, Vadya, Melakarta Ragas, Sacrificial ritual, and procedure of Pravargya.More importantly, they got briefing on the Metres as tools for literary architecture. The seven major ancient Sanskrit metres are the three 8-syllable Gayatri, the four 8-syllable Anustubh, the four 11-syllable Tristubh, the four 12-syllable Jagati, and the mixed Pada metres named Ushnih, Brihati, and Pankti.Beyond these seven metres, ancient and medieval era Sanskrit scholars developed numerous other syllable-based metres (Akshara-chandas). Examples include Atijagati (13x4, in 16 varieties), Sakkari (14x4, in 20 varieties), Atisakkari (15x4, in 18 varieties), Ashti (16x4, in 12 varieties), Atyashti (17x4, in 17 varieties), Dhriti (18x4, in 17 varieties), Atidhriti (19x4, in 13 varieties), Kriti (20x4, in 4 varieties) and so on. They learned The Chandah Sutra and Chandah Shastra. The Anushtubh Vedic metre became the most popular in classical and post-classical Sanskrit works. It is octosyllabic, like the Gayatri metre that is sacred to the Hindus. The Anushtubh is present in Vedic texts, but its presence is minor, and Trishtubh and Gayatri metres dominate in the Rigveda for example. Dominating presence of the Anushtubh metre in the both Ramayana and Mahabharata, that is extremely difficult to get details on the Melodies in Vedic Epics. The entire assemblage enjoyed Ramayana, Shiva Tandava Stotra, written by Ravana, the asura King and devotee of Shiva, and the fascinating story of Tulasidas that to writing Hanuman Chalisa, Mahabharata, and Bhavad Gita. They danced with Ecstasy to the melodies sung by Samaveda Priya, Nandiswara, and Sevita Sivani. They learned the amazing contribution of Bharata Muni, author of Natya Shastra a Sanskrit treatise on the performing arts, one that has influenced dance, music, and literary traditions in India. It notable for its aesthetic "Rasa" theory, which asserts that entertainment, to transport the individual in the audience into another parallel reality, full of wonder, where he experiences the essence of his own consciousness, and reflects on spiritual and moral questionsThey were amazed at the briefing on the Wondrous Music of Omkara generated by Planets in the Solar System, Stars, and Galaxies.

The ability to communicate and be understood through songs, art, words, inscriptions, or even gestures is essential because we, as a species, cannot live in isolation. And each one of these languages has its own journey. Early humans leaving messages on cave walls; three men on a raft stumbling upon a language they weren't looking for; a secret language that evolved to hide a people; the world's only undeciphered language that is 4000 years old. The stories in this book take you from the northeastern-most tip of our country to the forests in central India, from indigenous languages that are thousands of years old to those that have developed recently. Engrossing, entertaining, and packed with trivia, this book is for non-fiction lovers and students, who have a keen interest in all things India!

Book excerpt: Chapter I of this study, which discusses the older Upanisads, viz., the Brhad Aranyaka Upanisad and the Chandogya Upanisad, describes at the outset how the idea of the Supreme Being, the unique mystic power, was conceived in the words Brahman and Atman and how these two entities merged with each other and became identical. It then discusses the doctrine of metempsychosis as evolved from the relation between the Supreme Being and the world of plurality. In this period, the magician-priest begins to become a philosopher. Chapter II deals with later Upanisads like Kathaka Upanisad, Maitrayana Upanisad and Svetasvatara Upanisad. This period clearly reveals beginnings of the formulation of a system in the form of Samkhya Doctrine and the Yoga. Here the ultimate goal of human yearning, the salvation from suffering, becomes visible. In short, we perceive the development of thought of the Indian Philosophy from an impersonal god (of impersonal powers) to a personal god. But interestingly, a system strongly enforcing the elements of Yoga decisively rejected theism and adhered to the pessimistic thought of Indian mysticism: the Doctrine of Buddhism. This is described in Chapter III.

Book excerpt: The ?igveda is the first book of humankind and the most sacred scripture of Hinduism. It also happens to be the most ill-understood book of our times. Despite the extensive study by academic and religious scholars, the purpose and meaning of the ?igveda and many ancient Hindu scriptures remain unclear. In this pathbreaking book, the discovery of the ?igveda as a book of ancient cosmology is described, and related to the seals of ancient Indus Valley Civilization, thereby challenging our perception of humanity."The Vedas have always been lauded as containing the secrets of cosmogenesis. Raja Roy in his remarkable book shows how this is true not only from the yogic vison but according to the latest insights of modern physics. The book takes the reader on a vast panoramic journey through the universe of matter, mind and human history as well."David Frawley (Vamadeva Shastri), Director, American Institute of Vedic Studies"Roy presents a new framework for the understanding of the Vedic hymns from the point of view of physics and then he draws parallels with recent theories on the nature of the universe. We celebrate the new path he has hewn through the bush of old scholarship."Professor Subhash Kak, Oklahoma State University

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Sound is more than simply a medium of artistic expression. Sound has practical and powerful applications in the real world." Mantras, or simple chants, are short phrases packed with energy and intention--specifically designed to generate powerful sound waves that promote healing, insight, creativity, and spiritual growth. Healing Mantras is the practical, how-to guide that makes the strengths and benefits of mantras available to everyone. The transformative power of sound has been passed down to the present from the sages of India, the classical scientists of ancient Greece, and the medieval monks of Europe. Mantras, sounds, and chants have inspired, comforted, and mended the lives of individuals, religious orders, and even entire cultures. Even though the science and discipline of chanting and formal prayer are practiced in every religion around the world, this is the first time that ancient Sanskrit mantras have been explained and adapted to Western needs. One of the few Western experts in Hindu and Buddhist mantras, Thomas Ashley-Farrand has practiced mantra-based spiritual disciplines for twenty-five years. In this illuminating book, he explains how and why mantras work and shows how to use them for everything from controlling habits to overcoming fear, from curing specific ailments to finding inner peace. In each of the more than fifty mantras, all translated from the original Sanskrit, Ashley-Farrand unlocks the power of every word, explains its appropriate application, and tells you how to pronounce it in easy-to-follow phonetic symbols. Inside, you'll find mantras for - Health - Worldly Success - Habit Control - Protection - Grief - Anger - Controlling Fear - Personal Attraction - Wisdom - Concentration and Mental Clarity - Healing Life Issues - and more! These mantras can be repeated aloud or in silence and can be used by people of any religion or spiritual practice, "as you wash dishes, as you drive on the freeway, as you meditate, or as you cook." Sound can help and sound can heal, and Healing Mantras now makes this sound medicine available to everyone.
