Book excerpt: Before A Journey From (Within) because of the certain (Way) I tend to see, which is a feeling from (Within). Perhaps this is even an experience of (One)ness with creation. Starting with a near-death experience as a child just ?(Before),? a child is said to come to know in terms of concepts, I began a search for how and why I tend to see in a certain (Way), more in pictures and less in words. When reading ?split-brain studies? and ?two parallel ways of knowing,? I was intrigued with the difference in the contrasting views, and I began to create a model to express the two. I searched through old teachings, some newer, and began to see them in light of these modern findings. A more (Central) and (Neutral) view began to appear(Before)sided anddivided view ?after words.? In this work, language is adapted to these comparable contrasts. A (Common Center) is herein found to be (Common) to (All), a (Way) to see to bring together a torn-up world (Before) war. Therefore, I am seeking a step-back wider more (Collective) view of the ?two? to see ourselves and others as (One) from a (Common Center) core (Before)!

Book Synopsis The seven Laws of Reality and Being by : Max Corradi
Download or read book The seven Laws of Reality and Being written by Max Corradi and published by Jaborandi Publishing. This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is mainly based on the seven Hermetic Principles of Reality and Being as described in the Hermetic text “The Kybalion: A Study of the Hermetic Philosophy of Ancient Egypt and Greece” and it could be considered its commentary. The seven Laws of Reality can be considered as the essential principles of all the western and eastern spiritual wisdom traditions and can be employed in order to realize one's real nature of Pure Being and change one’s life conditions and circumstances. In final analysis, Truth is always found to be the same whether stated in modern scientific terms or in the language of ancient religion or philosophy, the only difference being in the form of presentation, always bearing in mind that no human formula will ever be able to describe every side of it. Part one of the book describes the seven Hermetic Laws or Principles which govern Reality: the Principle of Mind, the Principle of Cause and Effect, the Principle of Vibration, the Principle of Correspondence, the Principle of Polarity (or Opposites), the Principle of Rhythm (or Cyclicity) and the Principle of Gender. Part two offers many useful methods that can be employed in order to realize one's nature of Pure Being and change one’s conditions and circumstances by working with the seven Hermetic Laws of Reality.
Book Synopsis Primitivism and Related Ideas in the Middle Ages by : George Boas
Download or read book Primitivism and Related Ideas in the Middle Ages written by George Boas and published by JHU Press. This book was released on 1997-07-24 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Noble Savage, earthly paradise, the original condition of human beings, cynicism, Christianity . . . "All of us men were born in the first man without vice, and all of us lost the innocence of our nature by the sin of the same man. Thence our inherited mortality, thence the manifold corruptions of body and mind, thence ignorance, distress, useless cares, illicit lusts, sacrilegious errors, empty fear, harmful love, unwarranted joys, punishable counsels, and a number of miseries no smaller than that of our crimes."—St. Prosper of Aquitania, quoted in Primitivism and Related Ideas in the Middle Ages This volume of essays, written by George Boas in collaboration with Arthur O. Lovejoy, was originally intended to be the second in a series of four documenting the history of primitivism and related ideas about goodness in the world. Covering the Middle Ages, these essays underscore the continuity between pagan and Christian cultures with respect to concepts of primitivism and examine the latter period's modifications of a group of favorite classical themes. They demonstrate the growth of primitivism and anti-primitivism from the first through the thirteenth centuries and include a discussion of such subjects as the Noble Savage, earthly paradise, the original condition of human beings, and cynicism and Christianity. They also, as Boas suggests in his preface, "drive the piles for a bridge between the Renaissance and Classical Antiquity, although the superstructure itself remains to be constructed."

Download or read book Mervelous Signals written by Eugene Vance and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 1989-01-01 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The investigation of language, of how (and what and why) signifiers signify, is prominent in modern critical work, but the questions being asked are by no means new. In Mervelous Signals, Eugene Vance asserts that "there is scarcely a term, practice, or concept in contemporary theory that does not have some rich antecedent in medieval thought." He goes on to illustrate the complexity and depth of medieval speculations about language and literature. Vance's study of the link between the poetics and semiotics of the Middle Ages takes both a critical and a historical view as he brings today's insights to bear on the contemporary perspectives of such works as St. Augustine's Confessions, the Chanson de Roland, Chrätien's Yvain, Aucassin and Nicolette, Spenser's The Faerie Queen, and certain aspects of the works of Dante and Chaucer and of French medieval theater.

Book excerpt: Meeting Ma'at is currently the only book of its kind in the field. It provides a logical context, a proper historical background, and detailed instructions relevant to replacing a dependence on Robert's Rules of Order with the Rules of African Consensus. The former is based on a competitive, adversarial model, while African Consensus decision-making is based on cooperation, collaboration and participatory consent in group decision-making. Meeting Ma'at is the seminal African-centered guide for conducting meetings and gatherings. It is conducive for solid group decision-making and for moving the agenda along to its conclusion.

Atkinson authored The Kybalion under the pseudonym "The Three Initiates" in 1909. At the same time he authored The Arcane Formulas, which followed the chapter headings of The Kybalion and provided a series of practical exercises for a student desiring to incorporate the Hermetic Arts of Transmutation into their mental practices. For the first time, this annotated version of The Kybalion and The Arcane Formulas are combined in one volume.
Book Synopsis The Kybalion by : William Walker Atkinson
Download or read book The Kybalion written by William Walker Atkinson and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2011-04-28 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is the flagship edition of the most popular occult work of the past century, now published with a groundbreaking historical introduction that establishes its authentic authorship and a "lost" bonus work by the original author. It is one of the most mysterious and hotly debated occult works ever written-and without question the most popular and widely influential book of arcane philosophy of the twentieth century: The Kybalion has been credited only to the cryptic "Three Initiates" since its first appearance in 1908. Debate rages over the identity of the Three Initiates, the origin of the book's mysterious title and insights, and the nature of the Hermetic teachings on which it is thought to be based. Now the veil is parted. The Kybalion: The Definitive Edition presents the first full- scale analysis of this work of practical occult wisdom. It features the complete text of The Kybalion and the first-ever publication of Atkinson's previously unknown post-Kybalion work: The Seven Cosmic Laws. In an engaging introduction to this unique volume, religious scholar Philip Deslippe surveys the work's context, history, and impact (including as a source of spiritual insight to communities ranging from New Thought to Black Nationalism), and provides a biographical sketch of its elusive author, the New Thought pioneer William Walker Atkinson. As valuable to new fans as it is to longtime readers who crave more knowledge about Atkinson and his work, The Kybalion: The Definitive Edition illuminates the remarkable history of this long-cherished text.
