Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All the Bible is based on just three verses of scripture found in Genesis 12:1-3. When one understands the role and content of these verses, and follows how they develop in the scriptures, a surprising simplicity is discovered in God's Holy Word. Genesis 12:1-3 is the call of Abraham and God's announcement of Christ and world redemption. The plan of redemption involves three primary promises: (1) a nation, (2) a land, and (3) a coming Blessing. From the land and the nation will come the Blessing, who is Jesus. These three promises become a simple outline that compresses the Bible into a comprehensible format. In the New Testament, Paul holds up Abraham as a model for how all people come to salvation. He combines the call and promises made to Abraham, along with Abraham's belief in that call recorded in Genesis 15:6, to make a compelling case that justification is based on faith. J.L. Hendricks has been a pastor for forty-five years. He and his wife Barbara have four married children and nine grandchildren who are all actively involved in the Lord's work. Currently, pastor Hendricks is director of Israel's Fullness, a ministry seeking to take the gospel to both Jews and Gentiles. In 1990 he co-founded a national Messianic fellowship. His efforts in taking the gospel to Jewish people became the foundation for the writing of this book.

Yet most Protestants, and too many Catholics don't understand the role that God wants her to play in our lives. In Behold Your Mother, Tim Staples takes you through the Church's teachings about the Blessed Virgin Mary, showing their firm Scriptural and historical roots and dismantling the objections of those who mistakenly believe that Mary competes for the attention due Christ alone. Relevant and essential -- Mary matters. Read Behold Your Mother and find out just how much.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Jesus was born to Mary, God “translated” himself into our human world. This act of God’s translation continues today wherever the gospel is expressed, in each language and lived out in each culture that makes up our diverse world. Unfortunately, the church often ignores its cultural and linguistic diversity and, instead, imposes a dominant “language” and “culture” for expressing faith. This textbook seeks to challenge that situation. By identifying common barriers that prevent people from engaging with Scripture, the authors explore the ways churches can maintain unity in Christ and celebrate the diversity of their membership. Addressing a wide-range of relevant issues and using practical applications, this revised and updated edition re-establishes the importance of good, contextual Scripture engagement. A key resource in helping church leaders encourage people to communicate with God in their own language and to discover that Christ wants to make himself at home in their world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Second Edition - Updated and Revised A Bible student reference A New Testament prophecy of a falling away from truth into apostasy and lawlessness, in the final generation before Jesus Christ returns in glory, is being fulfilled now and is shortly to end. Yet Christianity has overwhelmingly moved so far from its first century roots that it could not even recognise this – or that Christ’s return is therefore now almost upon us! How and why this is the case is here explained thoroughly and logically with many examples directly from the word of God. In God’s saving plan for the world, everyone must in time make a free will choice to become part of the ‘Israel of God’ in order to access eternal life in the kingdom of God. The route to take is the “strait and narrow” way (Mat 7:13-14) that very few have so far found, and it involves the biblical new and old covenants which both apply to this Israel. Embark on this voyage only if you are willing to: be challenged about some basic Christian preconceptions, be a serious open-minded Bible student, and trust what the Bible teaches - but remember that time is short. “What the Bible has taught me I see as both vital and urgent for our eternal salvation; yet I know of no church or individual theologian who teaches what this book deals with in any substantive way” “Be prepared for major challenges to your understanding just as God has challenged me.” “In the epistles, Paul refers to two Israels whom he calls Israel after the flesh (I Cor 10:18) and the Israel of God (Gal 6:16); I focus mainly on the latter (but I also explain an unexpected but critically important connection between them)” “Dependent on the teaching, nearly all Christian denominations either teach nothing at all on it or almost the opposite of what Scripture repeatedly showed me. Looking back, I find this absolutely staggering!” “Very few [Christians] understand that the new covenant also only applies to Israel (as I will clearly show).” “I no longer believe that the NT [New Testament] can be fully understood without this extra Israel dimension” “Had I felt I could deliver this in a more light-hearted way I would have done so, but its implications are too awesome and fundamental to our eternal life prospects for that”

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is for those who want to be true to the spirit of the Christ and want to use the Bible as a guide to their spiritual growth rather than as a literal instruction manual for evaluating and judging external behavior – especially the behavior of others. Spiritual growth pays little attention to controlling external behavior. Spirituality is always an inside job and is always gentle, kind, understanding and accepting – of others and of self. The fruit of this book is the presentation of biblical facts, which are sewn together in the recognition that the Kingdom of God is available right now for you: Having experiences where others see God in you; Gifting your life with experiences of seeing God in all others; and Experiencing Spirit’s daily guidance as you live your life. Clear spiritual thinking requires an understanding of what the Bible is – and isn’t.

Book excerpt: An argument for Women Pastors, Elders, and Deacons based solely on the Bible and backed by historical evidence. After discovering a textual variant in early Greek manuscripts, which were supported by early Greek scripture quotations from the early church fathers, the author realized this variant reading provides the important context which reverses how many are currently understanding Paul’s apparent prohibition of women teaching in the pastoral epistles. The discovery of this variant completely changed the authors thinking and prompted a thorough study of the topic. Setting cultural arguments aside and relying solely on the text of Scripture, this book answers the critical question: Do these passages prevent women from being pastors, elders, and/or deacons? After an in-depth study, the author concluded that there is zero biblical evidence based on the original text of Scripture to support prohibiting women from holding leadership positions of pastor, elder, or deacon in the church.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In answering God's call to discipleship, each person must willfully surrender his or her powerful and natural desire to live according to self-seeking worldly rules and norms. Instead comes the commitment to strive to live ever closer to Him in love, trust, and obedience. This decision is radical and thus difficult. But the rewards of striving to become a Christ-centered spiritual being rather than a worldly one are profound and miraculous. The path to living according to God's will rather than our own is clearly directed by Scripture and is unequivocally defined by the life, teachings, sacrificial death, and resurrection of Christ. Every step is guided by the Holy Spirit. This book of daily readings is designed to help take you day by day into seeking life in His very presence. In it, you will find insights and advice on the struggles that are part of the spiritual growth each individual must have to be transformed into His image, which He intended at the very moment of your creation. It is part of John's ministry of teaching, speaking, and writing about the power and glory of actually answering Christ's universal call to His discipleship. Visit www.johnwhenderson.com.

This will challenge the conservative Christian's beliefs of where the mind can go, and challenge the non-Christian as to what Bipolar disorder can be. Those who have mental illness and what is called mental illness will relate to the writing and writing style: the main expression of my hypomania and mania. The construction is partially designed to offend churchy folks and the medical industry, a poke in the eye towards the abuses I've received from both, while seeking help. We are all living in a stand in the gap moment of time, the Christian's 1950's frame of mind and the realities of 2017, which I attempt to bridge in this book and the yet to be released 2nd volume. Topics presented are defenses of the KJB, artificial intelligence, the end times, the spiritual dynamics of the two separate but interlaced kingdoms of good and evil, humor, fiction, bipolar health, and so much more... Presented as essays in chapters, in chronological order, all of which are related.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most readers do not know about the Bible used almost universally by early Christians, or about how that Bible was birthed, how it grew to prominence, and how it differs from the one used as the basis for most modern translations. Although it was one of the most important events in the history of our civilization, the translation of the Hebrew Scriptures into Greek in the third century BCE is an event almost unknown outside of academia. Timothy Michael Law offers the first book to make this topic accessible to a wider audience. Retrospectively, we can hardly imagine the history of Christian thought, and the history of Christianity itself, without the Old Testament. When the Emperor Constantine adopted the Christian faith, his fusion of the Church and the State ensured that the Christian worldview (which by this time had absorbed Jewish ideals that had come to them through the Greek translation) would leave an imprint on subsequent history. This book narrates in a fresh and exciting way the story of the Septuagint, the Greek Scriptures of the ancient Jewish Diaspora that became the first Christian Old Testament.
