But he soon realizes that this is the least of his worries since his own brother has teamed up with one of his foes to set him up. D.J. doesn't just want a position in the company, he wants the whole thing. And after killing Darius everything that he came back to Atlanta to get will be fully in his grasp. Darius's girlfriend, Natalie, doesn't know what to do with herself after all that has transpired. In spite of how she feels, her voice of reason is telling her that being with a man like Darius may not be the right thing for her. But the problem is that she has already fallen in love with him, and she has no choice but to take refuge in Darius's mansion because of the numerous foes that would try to harm her to get revenge on her man. But how long will she be able to stay with him and will she remain loyal to Darius in spite of the adversity that they both will face? Leah has endured a lot throughout her relationship with Allen. But after he used her to set up Darius, Leah knows that their relationship can be no more. She is having to face the fact that Allen never loved her, but getting him out of her system and out of her life is going to be harder than expected. In spite of that, Leah may be finding true love in the most unlikely person. D.J.'s decision to murder in cold-blood has turned him into a person that he no longer recognizes. He's beginning to see that working with Allen is not going to fare well for him, but right now he has no other choice. D.J. needs Allen's help in order to ensure that he won't be spending the rest of his life in jail for committing murder, but after he avoids this case he knows that he can't afford to let Allen stick around. Will D.J. turn from this path of destruction, or will he allow his circumstances to push him into deeper obscurity?

Book excerpt: Fiercely intelligent, beautiful, and ready to claim her birthright, she navigates a dangerous world torn between war and witchpower. Seduction and stealth are Belinda Primrose’s skills–weapons befitting the queen’s bastard daughter, a pawn of espionage conceived by Lorraine, ruler of Aulun, and her lover and spymaster, Belinda’s father. Now an accomplished assassin, Belinda uncovers the true game her father never intended her to play. For Belinda has found her witchpower, a legacy born from something not of this earth. In a treacherous world where religion and rebellion rule, Lorraine is now in a position to sweep over the countries of Echon and to back her chosen successor to the throne: Belinda. But Belinda is no longer anyone’s pawn. Lured by the sensual dark magic of Dmitri, envoy to a neighboring throne, yet still drawn to the witchlord embrace of her former lover, Javier, Belinda knows that she has entered a realm where power and control go to those who can master and manipulate their fiercest desires. For the witchpower depends on the skill its wielder holds. From the Trade Paperback edition.

Book excerpt: The gorgeous and darkly compelling sequel to The Crown’s Game—perfect for fans of Red Queen and Shadow and Bone.A New York Times bestseller! Magic is growing, shadows are rising, and the throne is at stake… Russia is on the brink of great change. Pasha’s coronation approaches, and Vika is now the Imperial Enchanter, but the role she once coveted may be more difficult—and dangerous—than she ever expected. Pasha is grappling with his own problems—his legitimacy is in doubt, the girl he loves loathes him, and he believes his best friend is dead. When a challenger to the throne emerges—and with the magic in Russia growing rapidly—Pasha must do whatever it takes to keep his position and protect his kingdom. For Nikolai, the ending of the Crown’s Game stung deeply. Although he just managed to escape death, Nikolai remains alone, a shadow hidden in a not-quite-real world of his own creation. But when he’s given a second chance at life—tied to a dark price—Nikolai must decide just how far he’s willing to go to return to the world. With revolution on the rise, dangerous new magic rearing up, and a tsardom up for the taking, Vika, Nikolai, and Pasha must fight—or face the destruction of not only their world but also themselves.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this bold reconceptualization of Shakespeare's histories as plays that ultimately generate and seek to legitimize new kings, Barbara Hodgdon examines how closure contests as well as celebrates power relations dominant in late Elizabethan and early Jacobean society--particularly those between sovereign and subjects. Taking a broad view of closure as a developing process in which narrative structures, generic signs, and rhetorical conventions play contributory, and often contradictory, roles, she also considers how theatrical representations interpret, or reinterpret, closural features to recuperate and redirect their social energies. By giving special emphasis to theatrical reproduction as a form of textuality and to the intertextual relations between drama and other forms of history writing, Hodgdon situates performance as a type of new historicism and shows how theatrical productions, like critical discourse, participate in cultural work. Through a study of playtexts and selected performance texts, she negotiates between the critical and theatrical guises of Shakespeare to assess how past and present-day theatrical practice has appropriated his work to serve particular institutional and social practices.
