Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A 'how to' astrology handbook for practical alchemical laboratory work written by a working alchemist and astrologer. This method is used to determine when to make the most powerful herbal and mineral remedies possible. A great astrology resource for beginners and adepts. Includes blank charts and tables. Through the centuries, alchemists and astrologers have compiled observations based on the positioning of the sun, moon, and planets. They found that these cosmic clues could be applied to determine the best opportunity to begin work on laboratory experiments and developed systems to calculate these macrocosmic opportunities. Additionally this knowledge can be used to plan any important event or as an aid to meditative contemplation on the path to awakening. (Access to an Ephemeris is required, online or in print - not included in this handbook.) Forward by Dennis W. Hauck, author, lecturer, alchemy instructor, and former president of the International Alchemy Guild.

Book excerpt: Cracking the Philosophers' Stone is a combination of historical commentary with reproducible chemistry that thoroughly analyses one of the most respected and mysterious chemical reactions in the history of science and technology. This book guides the reader through the origins and evolution of the archetypal recipe for the Philosophers' Stone of early Alexandrian alchemy. LaPort and Gabrielsson also provide details for various chemical reproductions based on the authors' interpretation and hypotheses of ancient chemistry preserved in encrypted form in alchemical texts. Because of the human stories and historical backdrop, every layperson will find something of value to expand their understanding of the ancient world. Even scientists and specifically chemists will be fascinated with the reproducible chemical experiments presented in this ground-breaking work. The book is actually three books in one: 1) an introduction to alchemy, 2) a detailed history of alchemy's origins and evolution, and 3) a technical reference for actual reproducibility of alchemy's most sought-after prize - the Philosophers' Stone. Conclusions are contextually counter-balanced by laboratory experimentation, traditional alchemical texts and original interpretations.

Book excerpt: Colleagues often ask me why I wrote this unusual book. At first, it was simply so I could sleep at night. It was a way to marshal the extraordinary facts and histories that constantly rotated in my mind and became graphically alive at bedtime! Now I think my reason is to restore, in a humble way, richness to the mystery tradition at a time when the old arts of the philosopher are all but lost. There are many paths to the mysteries. The most predominant organizations in western societies are usually composed of people we might call literalists. They would not like the more accurate label of antiphilosophers. Literalists believe their traditional histories are unique, explain everything and provide enough wisdom to make the rest of civilization irrelevant.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Lost History of Cosmopolitanism challenges our most basic assumptions about the history of an ideal at the heart of modernity. Beginning in antiquity and continuing through to today, Leigh T.I. Penman examines how European thinkers have understood words like 'kosmopolites', 'cosmopolite', 'cosmopolitan' and its cognates. The debates over their meanings show that there has never been a single, stable cosmopolitan concept, but rather a range of concepts-sacred and secular, inclusive and exclusive-all described with the cosmopolitan vocabulary. While most scholarly attention in the history of cosmopolitanism has focussed on Greek and Roman antiquity or the Enlightenments of the 18th century, this book shows that the crucial period in the evolution of modern cosmopolitanism was early modernity. Between 1500 and 1800 philosophers, theologians, cartographers, jurists, politicians, alchemists and heretics all used this vocabulary, shedding ancient associations, and adding new ones at will. The chaos of discourses prompted thinkers to reflect on the nature of the cosmopolitan ideal, and to conceive of an abstract 'cosmopolitanism' for the first time. This meticulously researched book provides the first intellectual history of an overlooked period in the evolution of a core ideal. As such, The Lost History of Cosmopolitanism is an essential work for anyone seeking a contextualised understanding of cosmopolitanism today.

The greatest secret locked within the pages of the bible. That eternal spring from which those who drink shall never thirst. John 4:14 KJV. But whosoever drinketh the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. Mathew 5:13 KJV. Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? Mathew 7:7 KJV. Ascribed to an ancient philosopher, it dates to the Renaissance and describes a simplistic set of methods by which alkahest and the philosopher's stone can be made. Combining practice with theory, it is meant to make the process of alchemy easier for the student, so many similar materials being so highly symbolic and richly veiled with metaphor.

Alchemy is an ancient branch of esoteric philosophy and Hermetic science of occult knowledge stemming from the first five recorded centuries known as the theologian era. Zosimos of Panopolis was a Greco-Egyptian alchemist and Gnostic mystic who wrote the oldest known books on alchemy during the third and fourth centuries. Other famous alchemist's such as Cleopatra, Maria the Prophetess, King Eros, laid the foundations of the hermetic occult science. Hermes was called the father of alchemy by some, and a restorer of the art by others such as Theophrastus Paracelsus. Hermes Trismegistus the thrice greatest master of the three realms was credited for preserving the ancient science of alchemy in the emerald tablets of Thoth, Atlantean alchemist from Atlantis. These early alchemist's laid the corner stone of the lost hermetic science. Early Modern Alchemist's such as George Ripley picked up the torch and were credited with expanding the art with extensive experimentation and new recorded documentation such as Ripley's bosom book on alchemy. His most notable medieval would was called the compound of alchemy and he became famous as the author of the Ripley Scroll. His work laid open the metal acetate path of alchemy. The most famous legendary alchemist of all time was perhaps Nicholas Flamel who had a dream he would receive a book from an angel displaying the lost secrets of alchemy. For the cost of two florins the Paris bookseller soon had a new mission in life which caused him to become the center of legends of alchemy. His mausoleum was engraved with ancient hieroglyphical figures including a sun, above a key, above a book. Michael Sendivogius was credited with illuminating an overview of the alchemical art and its changes through time in a manuscript called The New Chemical Light preserving the art and its history of alchemy especially noting some of the differences between ancient Hermeticism and medieval alchemy. which is later reinforced in the renaissance era alchemical literature of Theophrastus Bombastus Von Hohenheim, also known as Paracelsus the great, who was a swiss alchemist physician who claimed to prominently display the philosopher's stone on the hilt of his sword. History suggests that Paracelsus was killed by knife wielding assassins and his sword stolen. DISCLAIMER; Do not try this at home. Not for consumption.
