Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ahmose I, founder of the New Kingdom, came to a broken Egypt and expanded it to the largest size it would ever reach. Readers will learn about how the familial bonds of the women who eagerly and expertly guided the rulers of Thebes sustained him, as a lineage of war-making young men came of age on the throne. They will make connections between how modernizing and adjusting to a specific enemy enabled the Thebans to take on the previously dominant Hyksos, while thought-provoking sidebars describe topics like why naming is important, and what differentiates the factions that sought power.

Book excerpt: This book is the first of a three (3) volume collation of Judeo Christian biblical verses alongside the original ancient Egyptian text from which they were plagiarized. It is an original collation done by the author. It clearly and explicitly demonstrates and illustrates, many never before seen obvious plagiarisms to be found between the pages of the Bible. This book is a must for any student of both comparative religion and research.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 3,500 year old story of Ahmose is being told here for the first time in a book intended for the Egypt enthusiast as well as the general public. Relying on ancient tomb inscriptions, papyrus texts, scribal exercises painted on wooden tablets, published sources, and a requisite amount of conjecture, the author has written an interpretive biography of this remarkable man. Ahmose lived through one of Egypt's greatest periods of transition, from a divided and conquered country into the world's first super power. He was an active soldier for over 40 years during the early 18th Dynasty and fought under three kings: Ahmose, Amenhotep I, and Thutmose I. Through his personal bravery and shrewd investments, Ahmose grew from a lowly recruit into a high ranking officer, and a wealthy land owner, whose social status rose to the point that his grandson served as tutor for the son of King Thutmose I. By the time of his death, at age 67, Ahmose had lived during the reigns of seven pharaohs, including Egypt's greatest king, Thutmose III. In addition to Ahmose's biography this book contains the full translation, with explanation, of his autobiography as it appears on his tomb wall, as well as the translations of several other, related historical documents. It also contains information on the Egyptian calendar, the organization of the military, and other subjects of interest. About the Author: Dr. Bill Petty graduated from West Point and received his doctorate in Engineering from the University of Illinois. He has studied Egyptian History for the past 25 years and has written several books on the ancient Egyptian language. He is a member of the Egyptian Study Society, the American Research Center in Egypt and The Explorers Club.

[A] rich portrait of ancient Egypt’s complex evolution over the course of three millenniums.”—Los Angeles Times NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The Washington Post • Publishers Weekly In this landmark volume, one of the world’s most renowned Egyptologists tells the epic story of this great civilization, from its birth as the first nation-state to its absorption into the Roman Empire. Drawing upon forty years of archaeological research, award-winning scholar Toby Wilkinson takes us inside a tribal society with a pre-monetary economy and decadent, divine kings who ruled with all-too-recognizable human emotions. Here are the legendary leaders: Akhenaten, the “heretic king,” who with his wife Nefertiti brought about a revolution with a bold new religion; Tutankhamun, whose dazzling tomb would remain hidden for three millennia; and eleven pharaohs called Ramesses, the last of whom presided over the militarism, lawlessness, and corruption that caused a political and societal decline. Filled with new information and unique interpretations, The Rise and Fall of Ancient Egypt is a riveting and revelatory work of wild drama, bold spectacle, unforgettable characters, and sweeping history. “With a literary flair and a sense for a story well told, Mr. Wilkinson offers a highly readable, factually up-to-date account.”—The Wall Street Journal “[Wilkinson] writes with considerable verve. . . . [He] is nimble at conveying the sumptuous pageantry and cultural sophistication of pharaonic Egypt.”—The New York Times

Queen Ahhotep, meanwhile, has recaptured much of the south -- but at a terrible price: her husband has been killed in combat and her elder son, Kames, was mysteriously poisoned. Ahhotep refuses to be crowned pharaoh and prepares her second son, young Amose, to take power instead. Thanks to her, the Egyptians are now ready for the final battle. They lay siege to Avaris, the Hyksos capital -- and once the city is taken, nothing can stop them. After 100 years of occupation and thousands of violent deaths, it looks as though the Egyptian empire may at last rise from the ashes.

Book excerpt: Known and loved throughout Egypt as a work that celebrates the national character, Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz’s Thebes at War tells of a high point in Egyptian history–ancient Egypt’s defeat of Asiatic foreigners who had dominated northern Egypt for two hundred years. With a visit from a court official and a provocative insult, the southern pharaoh’s long simmering resentment boils over, leading him to commit himself and his heirs to an epic struggle for the throne. Filled with the grand clash of armies, staggering defeats, daring escapes, and glorious victories, and written at a time when Egypt was again under the sway of foreign powers, Thebes at War is a resounding call to remember Egypt’s long and noble history.

Hatshepsut longs for power, but she is constrained by her commitment to maat – the sacred order of righteousness, the way things must be. Her mother claims Hatshepsut is destined for Egypt's throne – not as the king's chief wife, but as the king herself, despite her female body. But a woman on the throne defies maat, and even Hatshepsut is not so bold as to risk the safety of the Two Lands for her own ends. As God's Wife of Amun, she believes she has found the perfect balance of power and maat, and has reconciled herself to contentment with her station. But even that peace is threatened when the powerful men of Egypt plot to replace her. They see her as nothing but a young woman, easily used for their own ends and discarded. But she is the son of the god Amun, and neither her strength nor her will can be so easily discounted. As the machinations of politics drive her into the hands of enemies and the arms of lovers, onto the battlefield and into the childbed, she comes face to face with maat itself – and must decide at last whether to surrender her birthright to a man, or to take up the crook and flail of the Pharaoh, and claim for herself the throne of the king.
