Book excerpt: Aggregation function is an important component in an information aggregation or information fusion system. Interrelationships usually exist between the input arguments (e.g., the criteria in the multicriteria decision making) of an aggregation function. In this paper, we make a comprehensive survey on the aggregation operators (AOs) that consider the argument interrelationships in crisp and fuzzy settings. In particular, we discuss the mechanisms of modeling the argument interrelationships of the Choquet integral (CI), the power average (PA), the Bonferroni mean (BM), the Heronian mean (HM), and the Maclaurin symmetric mean (MSM) operators, and introduce their extended (e.g., generalized or weighted) forms and their applications in different fuzzy sets. In addition, we compare these ve types of operators and summarize their advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore, we discuss the applications of these operators. Finally, we identify some future research directions in the AOs considering the argument interrelationships. The reviewed papers are mainly about the development of the CI, the PA, the BM, the HM, and the MSM in (fuzzy) MCDMs, most of which fall in the period of 20092018.

Book Synopsis Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis by : Valerie Belton
Download or read book Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis written by Valerie Belton and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of multiple criteria decision analysis (MCDA), also termed multiple criteria decision aid, or multiple criteria decision making (MCDM), has developed rapidly over the past quarter century and in the process a number of divergent schools of thought have emerged. This can make it difficult for a new entrant into the field to develop a comprehensive appreciation of the range of tools and approaches which are available to assist decision makers in dealing with the ever-present difficulties of seeking compromise or consensus between conflicting inter ests and goals, i.e. the "multiple criteria". The diversity of philosophies and models makes it equally difficult for potential users of MCDA, i.e. management scientists and/or decision makers facing problems involving conflicting goals, to gain a clear understanding of which methodologies are appropriate to their particular context. Our intention in writing this book has been to provide a compre hensive yet widely accessible overview of the main streams of thought within MCDA. We aim to provide readers with sufficient awareness of the underlying philosophies and theories, understanding of the practi cal details of the methods, and insight into practice to enable them to implement any of the approaches in an informed manner. As the title of the book indicates, our emphasis is on developing an integrated view of MCDA, which we perceive to incorporate both integration of differ ent schools of thought within MCDA, and integration of MCDA with broader management theory, science and practice.

Book Synopsis Hesitant Bipolar-valued Neutrosophic set: Formulation, Theory and Application by : Azzah Awang
Download or read book Hesitant Bipolar-valued Neutrosophic set: Formulation, Theory and Application written by Azzah Awang and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper proposes a hesitant bipolar-valued neutrosophic set (HBVNS) based on the combination of bipolar neutrosophic sets and hesitant fuzzy sets. The proposed set generalizes the notions of fuzzy set, intuitionistic fuzzy set, hesitant fuzzy set, single-valued neutrosophic set, single-valued neutrosophic hesitant fuzzy set, bipolar fuzzy set and bipolar neutrosophic set. Further, we define the basic operational laws, union, intersection and complement for hesitant bipolar -valued neutrosophic elements (HBVNEs) and study its associated properties. Some relevant examples are also given to provide a better understanding of the proposed concept. Two aggregation operators are developed based HBVNS which are the hesitant bipolar-valued neutrosophic weighted averaging (HBVNWA) and the hesitant bipolar-valued neutrosophic weighted geometric (HBVNWG). A decision making method is developed based on HBVNS and the proposed HBVNWA and HBVNWG operators. Finally, an illustrative example is given to show the applicability of the proposed decision making method and a comparative analysis with the existing methods is also provided.

Book Synopsis Aggregation Operators by : Tomasa Calvo
Download or read book Aggregation Operators written by Tomasa Calvo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2002-04-10 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1. The increasing number of research papers appeared in the last years that either make use of aggregation functions or contribute to its theoretieal study asses its growing importance in the field of Fuzzy Logie and in others where uncertainty and imprecision play a relevant role. Since these papers are pub lished in many journals, few books and several proceedings of conferences, books on aggregation are partieularly welcome. To my knowledge, "Agrega tion Operators. New Trends and Applications" is the first book aiming at generality , and I take it as a honour to write this Foreword in response to the gentle demand of its editors, Radko Mesiar, Tomasa Calvo and Gaspar Mayor. My pleasure also derives from the fact that twenty years aga I was one of the first Spaniards interested in the study of aggregation functions, and this book includes work by several Spanish authors. The book contains nice and relevant original papers, authored by some of the most outstanding researchers in the field, and since it can serve, as the editors point out in the Preface, as a small handbook on aggregation, the book is very useful for those entering the subject for the first time. The book also contains apart dealing with potential areas of application, so it can be helpful in gaining insight on the future developments.

Portfolio problems are widely regarded as the single most important application context of decision analysis, and, with its extensive and unique coverage of these problems, this book is a much-needed addition to the literature. The book also presents innovative treatments of new methodological approaches and their uses in applications. The intended audience consists of practitioners and researchers who wish to gain a good understanding of portfolio decision analysis and insights into how PDA methods can be leveraged in different application contexts. The book can also be employed in courses at the post-graduate level.
Book Synopsis New Methods and Applications in Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) by : Alireza Alinezhad
Download or read book New Methods and Applications in Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) written by Alireza Alinezhad and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-08-23 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents 27 methods of the Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM), which are not discussed in the existing books, nor studied in details, using more applications. Nowadays, decision making is one of the most important and fundamental tasks of management as an organizational goal achievement that depends on its quality. Decision making includes the correct expression of objectives, determining different and possible solutions, evaluating their feasibility, assessing the consequences, and the results of implementing each solution, and finally, selecting and implementing the solution. Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) is sum of the decision making techniques. MCDM is divided into the Multiple Objective Decision Making (MODM) for designing the best solution and MADM for selecting the best alternative. Given that the applications of MADM are mostly more than MODM, wide various techniques have been developed for MADM by researchers over the last 60 years, and the current book introduces some of the other new MADM methods.
