Moses was approached on the streets of Bucharest by young Jews seeking help to emigrate to Israel. This became the author's mission until the communist regime fell in 1989. Before that Moses had met periodically with Romania's communist dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu, to persuade him to allow increased Jewish emigration. NATO for a number of years has been a strong supporter of the notion that the mission in Afghanistan cannot be won by military means or by combat means alone. There also needs to be a political strategy. The author of this book has been a strong supporter of reconciliation, reintegration and rapprochement efforts and we are seeing very early signs of some progress. My hope is that this book will help more people to have a shared vision with me for a peaceful, just and prosperous Afghanistan.
