Helicopter crews may now be exposed to the possible adverse effects of prolonged periods of noise and vibration. A flight surgeon worked closely with the aircrews on the test program and flew as a crewmember on an 18-hour nonstop mission, which covered 2200 nautical miles and included several aerial refuelings. No notable adverse effects on or detectable physiological changes in the crewmembers occurred as a result of this extended 18-hour helicopter flight. (Author).
