Book Synopsis Approximate Corrections for the Effects of Compressibility on the Subsonic Stability Derivatives of Swept Wings by : Lewis R. Fisher
Download or read book Approximate Corrections for the Effects of Compressibility on the Subsonic Stability Derivatives of Swept Wings written by Lewis R. Fisher and published by . This book was released on 1949 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method which has previously been presented for the estimation of the low-speed stability derivatives of swept wings is modified to yield approximate corrections for the first-order three-dimensional effects of compressible flow in the subsonic region. Corrections are presented in chart for for several aspect ratios and angles of sweep. Lift-curve slopes and values of damping roll are compared with those obtained by use of a generally accepted method and are discussed in relation to unpublished data.

This book was released on 1951 with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The finite-span effects on the lift-curve slope and the coefficient of damping in roll of swept wings in subsonic flow are shown to be functions primarily of a parameter which incorporates the aspect ratio, the sweep, and the section lift-curve slope. The limitations and possible uses of this parameter are discussed.

Book Synopsis Wing Theory in Supersonic Flow by : Elie Carafoli
Download or read book Wing Theory in Supersonic Flow written by Elie Carafoli and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Division II: Aerodynamics, Volume 7: Wing Theory in Supersonic Flow examines the cases of isolated simple wings, wings with vertical plane tail, cruciform wings, and simple or cruciform wings fitted with a body. This book presents the method for the actual calculation of isolated wings or of more complex system. Organized into 12 chapters, this volume starts with an overview of the basic equations in the mechanics of inviscid fluids. This text then presents a unified theory that is established for angularly shaped wings in supersonic flow. Other chapters consider the method for calculating the characteristics of drag, lift, and moments for various shapes of the trailing edge line. This book discusses as well the wings of ordinary shapes, delta wings, yawed wings, polygonal wings, trapezoid wings, and arrow-head or swept-back wings. The final chapter deals with a delta wing with a central fusiform body. This book is a valuable resource for teachers, students, and specialists engaged in modern aerodynamics.
