Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Selected test data are presented which show the aerodynamic properties of multiple fins, mounted on the tail section of slender bodies of revolution, as a function of the fin geometry at Mach numbers 1.75, 2.50, 3.50 and 4.50. Other parameters which alter the flow field past the fins such as the length of the forebody, the shape of the nose and the location of canard fins are also considered. (Author).

Opalka and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Test data are reported for two ring-wing and two multiple-fin stabilizers mounted on the tail of a cylinder combined with ogive oversize heads of 1.38 caliber diameter and varying lengths. Wind tunnel tests were run at five (5) Mach numbers from 1.75 to 3.5 and the resulting aerodynamic coefficients are plotted versus angle of attack and Mach number. The results are discussed regarding their effects on the longitudinal stability for the various configurations. (Author).

Bertram and published by . This book was released on 1954 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A program to investigate the aerodynamic characteristics of a family of delta wings with a blunt double-wedge section has been conducted at the Langley 11-inch hypersonic tunnel. These wings had a maximum thickness of 8 percent of the chord located at the 18-percent-chord point. For the wings tested at a Mach number of 6.9, the semiapex angle was varied from 5 to 30 degrees and the wings were tested over a range of angle of attack from 0 to 28 degrees and Reynolds numbers in the range of 800,000 to 3,600,000 based on root chord. In addition, pertinent results from tests at Mach number as low as 1.62 have been utilized. The shock-expansion theory and the Newtonian impact theory have been used to analyze the effects of changes made in the various parameters investigated.

Book excerpt: This report presents the results of a wind-tunnel investigation conducted to determine the effects of Mach number on the aerodynamic characteristics of a wing of triangular plan form. The wing was of aspect ratio 2 and of symmetrical double-wedge section with 5-percent chord maximum thickness at 20 percent of the chord.
