They live in the country in a small town. I believe my book is therapeutic and inspiring. I am hoping readers will see Gena's faith in God and endurance in spite of many adversities. The family traveled across the country to find jobs, in a homemade camper. Her father drove much to fast through the badlands, while her mother yelled for him to slow down. The nine children in the back became very frightened, they kept singing "Tell it to Jesus," over many times. Arriving in Oregon on April 12th in the spring of the twins fourteenth birthday, Her parents bought a unfinished house in the city. In 1949, her mother gave birth to another child, and cared for all twelve children going on welfare. On the front cover there is a picture of a bench by the bus stop where Gena often sat, also a shadow falling across the page to represent darkness that robbed her of her childhood. Why me God she cried? One late night, thinking to step out on front of a speeding car, an easy way to end the deep-hurt inside.

These could be anywhere from 2 to 40 minutes long and were used as a "filler" in a picture show that would include a cartoon, a newsreel, possibly a serial and a short before launching into the feature film. Shorts could tackle any topic of interest: an unusual travelogue, a comedy, musical revues, sports, nature or popular vaudeville acts. With the advent of sound-on-film in the mid-to-late 1920s, makers of earlier silent short subjects began experimenting with the short films, using them as a testing ground for the use of sound in feature movies. After the Second World War, and the rising popularity of television, short subject films became far too expensive to produce and they had mostly disappeared from the screens by the late 1950s. This encyclopedia offers comprehensive listings of American short subject films from the 1920s through the 1950s.
