His field of interest is integrated optic and electronic circuits, wireless and optical communication, clinical instrumentation, green energy, etc. He has received an INSA teacher award (instituted by the highest academic body Indian National Science Academy) for high level of teaching and research. He has published more than 90 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, 60 papers in international conference, and has written five books published by Springer Nature, McGraw-Hill. Dr Sahu is a Fellow of the Optical Society of India, Life Member of Indian Society for Technical Education and Senior Member of the IEEE.

Our multidisciplinary team comprised MIT faculty and research staff whose collective expertise spans optical materials, optical component fabrication, ultrafast optics, optical communications, and network architecture. The specific objectives of our program were to: (1) develop key technology components for all-optical networks that employ time-division multiplexing (TDM); (2) develop key technology components for all-optical networks that employ wavelength division multiplexing (WDM); (3) perform ancillary studies of noise behavior, dispersion management, and other issues relevant to all-optical networks. In this final report we briefly summarize our accomplishments over the entire grant period, 1 April 1996 through 15 January 2002. New services provided by a new network that exploits the potential and peculiarities of photonics surely requires a rethinking of solutions, new ideas, new architec tures, new design, especially where electronics is still dominant, as in transport and access networks.
