Book Synopsis Directed Evolution of Selective Enzymes by : Manfred T. Reetz
Download or read book Directed Evolution of Selective Enzymes written by Manfred T. Reetz and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-12-19 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Authored by one of the world's leading organic chemists, this authoritative reference provides an overview of basic strategies in directed evolution and introduces common gene mutagenesis, screening and selection methods. Throughout the text, emphasis is placed on methodology development to maximize efficiency, reliability and speed of the experiments and to provide guidelines for efficient protein engineering. Professor Reetz highlights the application of directed evolution experiments to address limitations in the field of enzyme selectivity, substrate scope, activity and robustness. He critically reviews recent developments and case studies, takes a look at future applications in the field of organic synthesis, and concludes with lessons learned from previous experiments.
Book Synopsis Harmonic Analysis: Smooth and Non-smooth by : Palle E.T. Jorgensen
Download or read book Harmonic Analysis: Smooth and Non-smooth written by Palle E.T. Jorgensen and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2018-10-30 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a recent and increasing interest in harmonic analysis of non-smooth geometries. Real-world examples where these types of geometry appear include large computer networks, relationships in datasets, and fractal structures such as those found in crystalline substances, light scattering, and other natural phenomena where dynamical systems are present. Notions of harmonic analysis focus on transforms and expansions and involve dual variables. In this book on smooth and non-smooth harmonic analysis, the notion of dual variables will be adapted to fractals. In addition to harmonic analysis via Fourier duality, the author also covers multiresolution wavelet approaches as well as a third tool, namely, L2 spaces derived from appropriate Gaussian processes. The book is based on a series of ten lectures delivered in June 2018 at a CBMS conference held at Iowa State University.

Book Synopsis Granular Computing by : Witold Pedrycz
Download or read book Granular Computing written by Witold Pedrycz and published by Physica. This book was released on 2013-06-05 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Granular Computing is concerned with constructing and processing carried out at the level of information granules. Using information granules, we comprehend the world and interact with it, no matter which intelligent endeavor this may involve. The landscape of granular computing is immensely rich and involves set theory (interval mathematics), fuzzy sets, rough sets, random sets linked together in a highly synergetic environment. This volume is a first comprehensive treatment of this emerging paradigm and embraces its fundamentals, underlying methodological framework, and a sound algorithmic environment. The panoply of applications covered includes system identification, telecommunications, linguistics and music processing. Written by experts in the field, this volume will appeal to all developing intelligent systems, either working at the methodological level or interested in detailed system realization.
