Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Major institutional, regulatory, and structural changes have occurred in international air transport during the past two decades. Many countries have deregulated their domestic airline industries and open skies continental blocs have formed in Europe and North America A movement is now underway to create a liberalized continental bloc in Australasia. International air transport has been substantially liberalized due to the diminishing role of lATA as an industry cartel, and via a series of liberalized bilateral agreements signed between many countries, including the u.s. and UK Increased liberalization and continentalization have induced major airlines to create global service networks through inter-carrier alliances. And all these changes are intensifYing competition between major carriers in both domestic and international markets. The increased competition and economic recession in the early 1990s led many airlines to massive fmancial losses, forcing them to undertake major restructuring to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Although it is important for an airline to map out proper strategies in the globalizing airline industry, the ultimate ability of a carrier to swvive and prosper in increasingly competitive markets greatly depends on its productivity and cost competitiveness.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Singapore is a small island city-state located in Southeast Asia with a diverse population of people from different ethnic backgrounds such as Chinese, Malay, and Indian. It is widely known for its high standards of living, impeccable cleanliness, and booming economies. Singapore has also been ranked as one of the most livable cities in the world by various surveys over the years. It is a highly developed country with a highly educated workforce, advanced infrastructure, and excellent health care systems. The country's economy is heavily dependent on exports, mainly electronics, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. Singapore is also a popular tourist destination showcasing their vibrant culture, cuisine, and iconic landmarks such as Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by The Bay, and Sentosa Island. However, Singapore's journey towards growth has not been without challenges. The country’s strategic location led to it being a colony of several different countries over the years, Chinese dialects and Malay are the official languages, but English is commonly used as a medium of communication due to its role in international trade. The country's size has also been a significant challenge, leading to government initiatives such as reclaiming land from the sea to make more land available for development. Despite these challenges, Singapore has overcome many odds to become one of the most successful and progressive countries in the world. It is an example to many other countries on how to prioritize education, infrastructure, and innovation to drive national growth and development.

As a result, they're better equipped to advise foreign corporations operating in the U.S. and U.S. companies operating abroad. Written by Cecil K. Nazareth ACA, CPA, MBA, a widely-respected thought leader in international tax and accounting circles. A member of the AICPA's International Tax Issues Task Force Nazareth shares his three-decades of international tax and accounting expertise, with a heavy emphasis on small to midsize companies, subsidiaries of foreign parents, and high-net-worth individuals and families across the globe. He's a highly sought-after speaker and university professor for both national and international locations. Tax firms around the world call Cecil to conduct sessions for their teams. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a macro-study of Indian business communities in Singapore through different phases of their growth since colonial times. It goes beyond the conventional labour-history approach to study Indian immigrants to Southeast Asia, both in terms of themselves and their connections with the peoples' movements. It looks at how Indian business communities negotiated with others in the environments in which they found themselves and adapted to them in novel ways. It especially brings into focus the patterns and integration of the Indian networks in the large-scale transnational flows of capital, one of the least-studied aspects of the diaspora history in this part of the world. The complexities and overlapping interests of different groups of traders and businessmen form an interesting study of various aspects of these trading bodies, their methods of operation and their trade links, both within and outside Singapore. The book also charts their mobility and progress, in terms of both business and social status. The research aims to construct linear threads of linkages through generations and situate them in the larger framework and broader paradigms of business networks in Singapore. In shedding light on aspects of Indian connectivities to Southeast Asia, the narrative is particularly relevant in the context of India's economic rise. This study raises economic, social and cultural issues regarding the transition.
