Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interludes and Ladies of Love The old institution of love has long out lived the values it may have once held in yesteryear. Good providing has always been the main factor but, it has gone deep and dark into plain, vain materialistic gain. In todays high-tech fast paced world where women are more likely to be the bread winner than the man; the definition of love has taken a whole new meaning. Interludes and Ladies of Love gives a glimpse into the mind of women, and how they view love today. The authors life experiences, and observations was the reason he wrote this book; Inspired by God to write how love is rapidly deteriorating in todays society, and with the acceptance of loves lowering level as long as theres a profit to be made, and no spiritual thought is given to their actions to attain it. Love and relationships are like everything else economically controlled, and can be virtually shut down in most cases where money takes priority over love. Unless women formulate a higher consciousness spiritually, and think outside of the box that constrict the mentality of todays society things will inevitably get worse in love land. Interludes and Ladies of Love is an in depth look behind the scene of what appear before the eyes of man, taking a look into loves unseen deceptions. Sympathy is expressed for the so-called manipulator of women (pimps) because, they havent realized yet, that the only true pimps are women, and they (the men) have pimped out nobody but themselves through their arrogant ignominy, and dependency on the ladies of love to provide financial security. Glimpse inside the unsavory interludes women delve into with hidden motivations held within what appear to be wide open, and innocent. Through the beauty of their bodies women truly do make themselves a power to be reckoned with in this world that feels a need to satisfy its insatiable sensations for money by any means necessary.
Book Synopsis To Know as I Am Known: The Communion of the Saints and the Ontology of Love by : Mark McLeod-Harrison
Download or read book To Know as I Am Known: The Communion of the Saints and the Ontology of Love written by Mark McLeod-Harrison and published by Vernon Press. This book was released on 2019-02-05 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The doctrine of the communion of the saints is central in the spiritual lives and theology of millions of Christians. However, it has been neglected by much recent philosophical scholarship. ‘To know as I am known’ addresses this oversight by offering a contemporary analysis of this venerated doctrine. By taking two related puzzles inherent in the doctrine itself, McLeod-Harrison explores and reflects on not only the communion of the saints but also on the ontology of love. Divided into five parts, this book provides an account of human nature and sin, before suggesting a way of thinking of love that is rooted both in the doctrine of the Trinity and in the thought of several contemporary analytic thinkers along with Dostoyevsky, Eckerd, Royce. While the integral issues of the doctrine are related to the “why-be-moral” problem, McLeod-Harrison shows that the challenges of the doctrine arise from the unique nature of agape (divine love). Thus, the communion of the saints comes through the challenges intact with a plausible interpretation of saintly motivation and human solidarity. Born out of 20 years of thought, this essential and sophisticated reflection serves as an important contribution to the field of the philosophy of religion that will inspire and engage students, scholars, and Christians, alike.

Download or read book Luke written by Darrell L. Bock and published by InterVarsity Press. This book was released on 1994-01-01 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Luke's vivid narrative, Jesus comes into Galilee proclaiming "good news to the poor . . . freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind." More than any other Gospel, the Gospel of Luke shows Jesus' great concern for the downtrodden, the oppressed and the marginalized--including women and children and even those outside the house of Israel.Darrell Bock's IVP New Testament Commentary shows why Luke's Gospel is "tailor-made" for the world we live in--a world often divided along ethnic, religious, economic and political lines. After all, the Jesus portrayed by Luke is a source of unity for his disciples and for believers from every walk of life. Tax collectors, Roman soldiers, prostitutes, city officials, religious leaders, widows and fishermen were among the diverse group brought together in the early Christian church. "The Gospel is universal in its perspective and cosmic in its scope," Bock writes. "As we look at our modern multicultural world, . . . certainly there is relevance in a Gospel that highlights how men and women of different ethnic origins can be transformed into a unified community."Along with a passage-by-passage exposition of Luke, Bock offers background information on date, destination, purpose, form and theological themes in the text. His dual focus on understanding what Luke wanted to communicate to his original readers and on discovering how that message is relevant for today's readers will make this commentary an excellent resource for all who study, preach or teach the Scriptures.
Book Synopsis Beyond the Call of Duty by : Gregory Mellema
Download or read book Beyond the Call of Duty written by Gregory Mellema and published by SUNY Press. This book was released on 1991-01-01 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A surprisingly large number of people have denied that it is possible for human moral agents to act in such a way as to go beyond or transcend what moral duty or obligation requires of them. Some of this opposition to the possibility of supererogation, as it is called, has been motivated by theological concerns. This book surveys the concerns of Luther, Calvin, and Melanchthon, as they react to certain teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, as well as the concerns of several contemporary theologians. It also examines some contemporary philosophers whose concerns have grown out of a commitment to a Kantian, utilitarian, or prescriptive type of ethics and urges that there are valuable lessons to be learned from these theologians and philosophers. At the same time it is argued that some of their concerns are the result of a mistaken idea of what it means to perform an act of supererogation. In addition, it is argued that some of their concerns can be addressed in ways that do not require a denial of the possibility of going beyond the call of duty in human life. This stage of the argument involves a discussion of virtue ethics and an examination of the concept of vocation, particularly as it has developed in Protestant thought, and illustrates the relevance of virtue and vocation to the problem of supererogation.

Book Synopsis Mothers and Daughters by : Suzanne Degges-White
Download or read book Mothers and Daughters written by Suzanne Degges-White and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2014-01-16 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In addition to the simple physiological and genetic bond that connects parents to their children, there is also a deeply rooted and often conflicting emotional bond that develops between mothers and daughters. The culture of motherhood has dramatically re-shaped itself over the past few decades as economics and politics have shifted in this nation. Single parenting is no longer the cultural taboo it once was perceived to be. Daughters and mothers are frequently spending a greater number of years under one roof as both emerging adults face financial challenges in trying to launch from the nest and older adults are living longer and often being cared for by daughters. Making sense of these relationships can be challenging and upsetting, rewarding and fulfilling, all at once. Here, the authors discuss the roles of mother and daughter, and how they have changed and continue to grow, and present the stories of women from all walks of life, and from different age groups, to illustrate what being a mother, and being a daughter, really means to women in their everyday lives. They guide readers to a better understanding of their relationships, on a personal level, even as they describe the evolving nature of contemporary mother-daughter dynamics. By providing women with a book that candidly explores the myriad paths and depths to which the mother-daughter relationship might wind, the authors help readers smooth over the difficulties and power struggles they may be experiencing with their mothers or their daughters, or both.
