Book Synopsis Abnormal Grain Growth in Nickel-base Heat-resistant Alloys by : R. F. Decker
Download or read book Abnormal Grain Growth in Nickel-base Heat-resistant Alloys written by R. F. Decker and published by . This book was released on 1957 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A laboratory study was carried out to establish the basic causes of abnormal grain growth in air- and vacuum-melted Waspaloy, Inconel X-550, and Nimonic 80A alloys. All of the results indicated that small reduction of essentially strain-free metal were the basic cause of abnormal grain growth. Between reductions of 0.4 and 5.0 percent, in most cases, there was a narrow range of reductions responsible for abnormal growth. In a few special cases the responsible reductions were as low as 0.1 percent and as high as 9.7 percent.

Book Synopsis Recrystallization and Related Annealing Phenomena by : F.J. Humphreys
Download or read book Recrystallization and Related Annealing Phenomena written by F.J. Humphreys and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The annealing of deformed materials is of both technological importance and scientific interest. The phenomena have been most widely studied in metals, although they occur in all crystalline materials such as the natural deformation of rocks and the processing of technical ceramics. Research is mainly driven by the requirements of industry, and where appropriate, the book discusses the extent to which we are able to formulate quantitative, physically-based models which can be applied to metal-forming processes. The subjects treated in this book are all active research areas, and form a major part of at least four regular international conference series. However, there have only been two monographs published in recent times on the subject of recrystallization, the latest nearly 20 years ago. Since that time, considerable advances have been made, both in our understanding of the subject and in the techniques available to the researcher. The book covers recovery, recrystallization and grain growth in depth including specific chapters on ordered materials, two-phase alloys, annealing textures and annealing during and after hot working. Also contained are treatments of the deformed state and the structure and mobility of grain boundaries, technologically important examples and a chapter on computer simulation and modelling. The book provides a scientific treatment of the subject for researchers or students in Materials Science, Metallurgy and related disciplines, who require a more detailed coverage than is found in textbooks on physical metallurgy, and a more coherent treatment than will be found in the many conference proceedings and review articles.

Book Synopsis Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Structural Metals and Alloys by : Andrey Belyakov
Download or read book Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Structural Metals and Alloys written by Andrey Belyakov and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-06-24 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers collected in this special issue clearly reflect the modern research trends in materials science. These fields of specific attention are high-Mn TWIP steels, high-Cr heat resistant steels, aluminum alloys, ultrafine grained materials including those developed by severe plastic deformation, and high-entropy alloys. The major portion of the collected papers is focused on the mechanisms of microstructure evolution and the mechanical properties of metallic materials subjected to various thermo-mechanical, deformation or heat treatments. Another large portion of the studies is aimed on the elaboration of alloying design of advanced steels and alloys. The changes in phase content, transformation and particle precipitation and their effect on the properties are also broadly presented in this collection, including the microstructure/property changes caused by irradiation.
Book Synopsis On the Abnormal/Coarse Grain Formation in K-Monel 500 Alloy by : Robert J. Reidel
Download or read book On the Abnormal/Coarse Grain Formation in K-Monel 500 Alloy written by Robert J. Reidel and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-31 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book helps unlock the root cause of abnormal grain growth in a commercial nickel alloy. The chapters explore the effects of different solution treating and aging techniques, showing how they impact the hardness properties of hot-rolled and cold-drawn Monel K-500. The book covers how high-frequency induction heat treating can lead to severe duplex microstructure, and uncovers the surprising differences between solution treating in vacuum and convection air furnaces. This book is helpful to anyone seeking to optimize the performance of metal alloys.
