Book Synopsis Tales From The Strip by : Andy Espinoza Long
Download or read book Tales From The Strip written by Andy Espinoza Long and published by Andrew Espinoza Long. This book was released on 2019-05-30 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My name is Andy, and I'm a male stripper. Throughout the years, I guesstimate to have performed at well over six hundred shows. That includes male revues, bachelorette parties, stripograms, private one on ones, office visits, just about any event that your mind can dream up. Some of these tales are insane; some are even unbelievable at times. While writing this memoir, more than once, I'd sit back and take a break, wondering, "Did that fucking happen?" When I embarked upon the task of writing out all these adventures, it was difficult for me to rack through my brain and recall details that I believed, at one point, would never erase from my memory. While it does sound tempting to add a little sugar and spice to an already juicy tale, I’m old school in the sense that, to me, nothing tastes better than the real thing. For my selfish reasons alone, I needed to compose these stories as accurately as possible, as the ‘wow’ factor never trumps authenticity in my book.Without further ado, sit back, pour yourself a hot cup of joe, and enjoy the show. These, my dear friends, are my Tales From The Strip…

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A deft analysis and appreciation of fiction—what makes it work and what can make it fail. Here is a book about the craft of writing fiction that is thoroughly useful from the first to the last page—whether the reader is a beginner, a seasoned writer, or a teacher of writing. You will see how a work takes form and shape once you grasp the principles of momentum, tension, and immediacy. "Tension," Stern says, "is the mother of fiction. When tension and immediacy combine, the story begins." Dialogue and action, beginnings and endings, the true meaning of "write what you know," and a memorable listing of don'ts for fiction writers are all covered. A special section features an Alphabet for Writers: entries range from Accuracy to Zigzag, with enlightening comments about such matters as Cliffhangers, Point of View, Irony, and Transitions.
Download or read book Doctor Who written by Alan Kistler and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2013-10-01 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Premiering the day after the JFK assassination, Doctor Who humbly launched one of the entertainment world’s first super-brands. We begin with a look at TV programming of the day and the original pitch documents before delving into the Daleks, which almost didn’t make the cut but inspired many monsters to follow. After three years, First Doctor William Hartnell left, prompting the BBC to recast their hit rather than end it, giving us the first “regeneration” and making TV history. We follow the succession of Doctors—including Third Doctor Jon Pertwee, exiled to Earth and targeted by the Master—and see how the program reflected the feminism of the 1970s while gaining mainstream popularity with Fourth Doctor Tom Baker . . . until declining support from the BBC eventually led to cancelation. Fan outcry saved the series only for it to suffer a repeat cancelation. Yet many continued to enjoy the Whoniverse in syndication, novels, audio dramas, and Doctor Who Magazine. Paul McGann impressed many as the Eighth Doctor in a 1996 TV movie, but it failed to reignite the series. A new age dawned in 2005 with Ninth Doctor Christopher Eccleston and a serious special effects budget before Tenth Doctor David Tennant helped rocket the series to international popularity and a new era of spinoffs. With Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith, the show became a bona fide success here in America. Following the program’s fiftieth anniversary, Whovians will meet the Twelfth Doctor, ushering in yet another era for the unstoppable Time Lord. Featuring discussions of concepts and characters, with insights from producers, writers, and actors from across the years, here is a rich, behind-the-camera investigation into the dazzling multiverse of Doctor Who.

Download or read book Scrupulosity (al-Wara ') in Early Islam written by Mateusz Wilk and published by . This book was released on 2019-12-31 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to discuss religious scrupulousness (al-wara') - an important phenomenon in Islamic spirituality and tradition in the 3rd/9th century. Through the study of hadith compilations devoted to piety the author tries not only to define the concept of scrupulousness itself, but also to present the world of Muslim scholars who composed these collections of traditions. An important aspect of the book will be a discussion of a possible social impact of religious scrupulousness as well as of its cultural context. Thus, another examined subject will be the link of religious scrupulousness with the Islamic eschatology, as well as with the visions of the Hereafter. On the whole, religious scrupulousness will be analysed as one of the portents of changes occurring in the Islamic society and civilisation in the 3rd/9th century, when new forms of piety are accompanied by apocalyptic fears and anxieties.

Book Synopsis Preventing Corporate Accidents by : Robert B. Whittingham
Download or read book Preventing Corporate Accidents written by Robert B. Whittingham and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2008 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The passing of the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Bill in the UK and increasing public and investor pressure for good Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility, means organizations now, more than ever, need to ensure they do all they can to prevent major accidents. However, past experience shows that just implementing safety management systems is not enough and this book makes the case for a more holistic and ethical approach to improving corporate systems as a whole. Preventing Corporate Accidents shows how major accidents can result from human error and defects in corporate systems. The book describes accident prevention strategies, from safety culture, safety management systems, foresight and planning to safety regulations, corporate ethics, corporate social responsibility and the learning organization. Barry Whittingham illustrates with international case studies from various industries how and why these defences have failed in the past, and more importantly, how to strengthen corporate systems to prevent future major accidents. The case studies include: The loss of the space shuttle Columbia Infant heart surgery at Bristol Royal Infirmary The Davis-Besse nuclear power plant incident The fire and explosion at the Conoco-Phillips Humber oil refinery Herald of Free Enterprise and Southall rail accident manslaughter prosecutions This book is essential reading for all those with a professional interest in health and safety management, the control of major risk and accident prevention, in particular for directors, senior managers and health & safety professionals in high-hazard industries and public operations, such as nuclear, chemicals, construction, oil and gas, energy, manufacturing and transportation. Barry Whittingham has worked as a senior manager, design engineer and consultant for the chemical, nuclear, offshore, oil and gas, railway and aviation sectors. He developed a career as a safety consultant specializing in the human factors aspects of accident causation. Barry is a Fellow of the Safety and Reliability Society.
Book Synopsis Ethnic Identity and Minority Protection by : Thomas W. Simon
Download or read book Ethnic Identity and Minority Protection written by Thomas W. Simon and published by . This book was released on 2013-12 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Ethnic Identity and Minority Protection: Designation, Discrimination, and Brutalization, Thomas W. Simon examines a new framework for considering ethnic conflicts. In contrast to the more traditional theories of justice, Simon's theory of injustice shifts focus away from group identity toward group harms, effectively making many problems, such as how to define minorities in international law, dramatically more manageable. Simon argues that instead of promoting legislative devices like proportional representation for minorities, it is more fruitful to seek adjudicative solutions to racial and ethnic-related conflicts. For example, resources could be shifted to quasi-judicial human-rights treaty bodies that have adopted an injustice approach. This injustice approach provides the foundation for Kosovo's case for remedial secession, and helps to sort out the competing entitlement claims of Malays in different countries. Indeed, the priority of Thomas W. Simon's Ethnic Identity and Minority Protection is to ensure the tales of designation and discrimination told at the beginning of the work do not become the stories of brutalization told at the end. In short, the challenge tackled in this text is to assure that reason reigns over hate.
