This book was released on 2018-08-10 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several Gurney flap configurations were tested in the NASA Langley 16 x 24 inch Water Tunnel. These devices provided an increased region of attached flow on a wing upper surface relative to the wing without the flaps. The recirculation region behind the flap was visualized and shown to be consistent with hypotheses stated in previous research. Although the test Reynolds number for this study was several orders of magnitude below those in previous investigations, the effect of the Gurney flaps is in qualitative agreement with them. This is as would be expected from first order effects for high lift devices. Book Synopsis Applied Aerodynamics by : Jorge Colman Lerner
Download or read book Applied Aerodynamics written by Jorge Colman Lerner and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-05-11 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aerodynamics, from a modern point of view, is a branch of physics that study physical laws and their applications, regarding the displacement of a body into a fluid, such concept could be applied to any body moving in a fluid at rest or any fluid moving around a body at rest. This Book covers a small part of the numerous cases of stationary and non stationary aerodynamics; wave generation and propagation; wind energy; flow control techniques and, also, sports aerodynamics. It's not an undergraduate text but is thought to be useful for those teachers and/or researchers which work in the several branches of applied aerodynamics and/or applied fluid dynamics, from experiments procedures to computational methods.
Book Synopsis Recent Progress in Flow Control for Practical Flows by : Piotr Doerffer
Download or read book Recent Progress in Flow Control for Practical Flows written by Piotr Doerffer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-05-11 with total page 505 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the outcomes on flow control research activities carried out within the framework of two EU-funded projects focused on training-through-research of Marie Sklodowska-Curie doctoral students. The main goal of the projects described in this monograph is to assess the potential of the passive- and active-flow control methods for reduction of fuel consumption by a helicopter. The research scope encompasses the fields of structural dynamics, fluid flow dynamics, and actuators with control. Research featured in this volume demonstrates an experimental and numerical approach with a strong emphasis on the verification and validation of numerical models. The book is ideal for engineers, students, and researchers interested in the multidisciplinary field of flow control.
Book Synopsis Low Reynolds Number Aerodynamics by : Thomas J. Mueller
Download or read book Low Reynolds Number Aerodynamics written by Thomas J. Mueller and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Current interest in a variety of low Reynolds number applications has focused attention on the design and evaluation of efficient airfoil sections at chord Reynolds numbers from about 100,000 to about 1,000,000. These applications include remotely piloted vehicles (RPVs) at high altitudes, sailplanes, ultra-light man-carrying/man powered aircraft, mini-RPVs at low altitudes and wind turbines/propellers. The purpose of this conference was to bring together those researchers who have been active in areas closely related to this subject. All of the papers presented are research type papers. Main topics are: Airfoil Design and Analysis, Computational Studies, Stability and Transition, Laminar Separation Bubble, Steady and Unsteady Wind Tunnel Experiments and Flight Experiments.
