Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the reviews: "Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts has appeared in semi-annual volumes since 1969 and it has already become one of the fundamental publications in the fields of astronomy, astrophysics and neighbouring sciences. It is the most important English-language abstracting journal in the mentioned branches. ...The abstracts are classified under more than a hundred subject categories, thus permitting a quick survey of the whole extended material. The AAA is a valuable and important publication for all students and scientists working in the fields of astronomy and related sciences. As such it represents a necessary ingredient of any astronomical library all over the world." Space Science Reviews#1 "Dividing the whole field plus related subjects into 108 categories, each work is numbered and most are accompanied by brief abstracts. Fairly comprehensive cross-referencing links relevant papers to more than one category, and exhaustive author and subject indices are to be found at the back, making the catalogues easy to use. The series appears to be so complete in its coverage and always less than a year out of date that I shall certainly have to make a little more space on those shelves for future volumes." Download or read book Uranus written by Jay T. Bergstralh and published by University of Arizona Press. This book was released on 1991-09 with total page 1104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Uranus occupies a unique niche in the history of western thought; for while the planets from Mercury to Saturn had been known since pre-antiquity, Uranus was the first to be discovered, in 1781, through scientific investigation. Contemporary investigation of Uranus culminated in the Voyager 2 encounter in 1986. The results of that achievement, as well of concurrent research on the planet, are reviewed by 84 international authorities in this massive volume. Because Uranus' remoteness has prevented its being studied as intensively by earth-based observation as have other members of the solar system, most of what is known about the planet—its magnetic field and magnetosphere and satellites—were learned from the Voyager data, which is viewed here from a variety of perspectives. While the book is intended to serve as a comprehensive review, it also reports a substantial amount of original research results not previously published.

Book Synopsis Primordial Nucleosynthesis and Evolution of Early Universe by : Katsuhiko Sato
Download or read book Primordial Nucleosynthesis and Evolution of Early Universe written by Katsuhiko Sato and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 622 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Conference "Primordial Nucleosynthesis and Evolution of Early Universe" was held in the presence of Prof. William Fowler on 4 - 8 September 1990 at the Sanjo Conference Hall, the University of Tokyo. This conference was co-sponsored by IUPAP, the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, and by the University of Tokyo. The number of participants was 156, 58 from 15 foreign countries and 98 from Japan. About 120 contributions were submitted orally or as posters. Originally this conference was planned as a small gathering on Primordial Nucleosynthesis as indicated in the title, since primordial nucleosynthesis is the most important probe of the early stage of the universe. As is well known, light element abundances strongly depend on the time evolution of temperature and density. In this sense we can say that primordial nucleosynthesis is both the thermometer and speedometer of the early universe. Moreover, recently it has been claimed that primordial nucleosynthesis is an indicator of inhomogeneity of the early universe too. Now research of the primordial nucleosynthesis is in a boom. We, however, decided to include observational cosmology, of observations. taking into account the recent remarkable results Nowadays, to reveal the large scale structure of the universe and discover its origin is a main subject in cosmology. We invited distinguished scientists from all over the world, and very fortunately almost all these people accepted to attend this conference.
Book Synopsis Nuclei in the Cosmos by : Heinz Oberhummer
Download or read book Nuclei in the Cosmos written by Heinz Oberhummer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear astrophysics as it stands today is a fascinating science. Even though, compared to other scientific fields, it is a young discipline which has developed only in this century, it has answered many questions concerning the under standing of our cosmos. One of these great achievements was the concept of nucleosynthesis, the creation of the elements in the early universe in interstellar matter and in stars. Nuclear astrophysics has continued, to solve many riddles of the evolution of the myriads of stars in our cosmos. This review volume attempts to provide an overview of the current status of nuclear astrophysics. Special emphasis is given to the interdisciplinary nature of the field: astronomy, nuclear physics, astrophysics and particle physics are equally involved. One basic effort of nuclear astrophysics is the collection of ob servational facts with astronomical methods. Laboratory studies of the nuclear processes involved in various astrophysical scenarios have provided fundamen tal information serving both as input for and test of astrophysical models. The theoretical understanding of nuclear reaction mechanisms is necessary, for example, to extrapolate the experimentally determined reaction rates to the thermonuclear energy range, which is relevant for the nuclear processes in our cosmos. Astrophysical models and calculations allow us to simulate how nuclear processes contribute to driving the evolution of stars, interstellar matter and the whole universe. Finally, elementary particle physics also plays an important role in the field of nuclear astrophysics, for instance through weak interaction processes involving neutrinos.
Book Synopsis Particles, Strings And Supernovae - Proceedings Of Theoretical Advanced Study Institute In Elementary Particle Physics (In 2 Volumes) by : Chung-i Tan
Download or read book Particles, Strings And Supernovae - Proceedings Of Theoretical Advanced Study Institute In Elementary Particle Physics (In 2 Volumes) written by Chung-i Tan and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1989-05-01 with total page 1096 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This proceedings is a follow-up for the TASI series held annually to discuss the current theoretical and experimental status in elementary particle physics. Since TASI is designed primarily for advanced graduate students, lectures tend to be pedagogical, in the same mood of the equally successful Erice schools. Brown TASI-88 covered four inter-related areas: Standard Particle Physics, Non-Perturbative Aspects of Quantum Field Theories, Strings and Superstrings, Cosmology and Neutrino-Astrophysics.

This book was released on 1992-03-04 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the theoretical aspects of the search for 'new physics' beyond the Standard Model of elementary particle interactions. Both accelerator-based and non-accelerator ('astro particle physics') searches are discussed. The contents of the Proceedings are unique in its emphasis on the interaction between these two aspects of particle physics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While there have been many books on cosmology and galactic and stellar evolution in which abundance analysis of astrophysical objects has played some part, this book is the first one for several years where specialists in the various relevant fields discuss the basis and implications of the subject as a whole. The major aim of the book is to bring together the results from high redshift studies and galactic studies in a coherent way and to cover relevant aspects of nuclear and atomic physics.
Book Synopsis Primordial Nucleosynthesis by : B W Carney
Download or read book Primordial Nucleosynthesis written by B W Carney and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1990-02-01 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This workshop was one of the first meetings where cosmologists, astronomers, astrophysicists, and nuclear physicists discussed research areas of mutual interest. Very new results on inhomogeneous models and neutron-proton segregation were presented, and related to primordial abundances. The current rapid progress in measuring nuclear reaction rates for radioactive nuclei was summarized, together with prospects for developing relevant facilities for nuclear astrophysics and low-energy nuclear physics.
