Book excerpt: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Trip chronicles the adventures of a single Dad taking his two kids on a 6,950-mile odyssey across the USA and back during his two-week vacation. Along the way, they set a record for the longest family road trip in a roughly two-week span, certified by RecordSetter, a competitor of Guinness World Records. And they did it in their trusty 2001 Honda CRV with more than 165,000 miles. They rode roller coasters and water slides, tried to locate some Hollywood celebrities, met some aliens at a UFO center in Sedona, sat on a ledge on top of the country's tallest building in Chicago, spray painted Cadillac Ranch, dodged mule poop at the Grand Canyon, and bought a pressed coin at Old Faithful. They also visited Mount Rushmore, Vegas, Dallas, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and many points in between. Their book also lends tips, websites and other info on attractions, fun facts, and more resources, so you can take your own Great American Adventure.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the Gulf Crisis of 1990 was triggered by the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, the RAF responded by sending Tornado F 3 fighters to Saudi Arabia to help defend the country against further aggression. These aircraft were followed by the deployment of Tornado GR 1 strike/attack aircraft to Bahrain. Eventually three wings of Tornado GR 1s were established in Bahrain, Tabuk and Dhahran, as well as a detachment of Tornado GR 1A reconnaissance aircraft. At the start of hostilities in January 1991, the Tornado GR 1 wings carried out night-low-level attacks against Iraqi Main Operating Bases using the JP233 runway denial weapon. Meanwhile, Combat Air Patrols from the Tornado F 3 wing ensured the integrity of Saudi airspace. Once air supremacy had been established, the Tornado GR 1 force moved to medium-level operations, initially by night and later by day, to attack the Iraqi oil production and storage infrastructure. The arrival in theatre of a laser designation capability with Pave Spike/Buccaneer and TIALD/Tornado enabled precision attacks against the Iraq transport system to cut off the frontline troops from resupply and reinforcement and then to carry out a systematic destruction of the airfield facilities. Tornado GR 1A reconnaissance operations played a major role in the location of Scud missile launchers and in the planning and execution of the land offensive. Throughout the conflict, the Tornado F 3 wing at Dhahran carried out defensive counter-air operations to ensure the safety of the base areas. This volume, publishing 30 years after the conflict to free Kuwait, provides detailed first-hand accounts of the missions undertaken by the Tornado crews. It is illustrated by photographs taken by aircrew involved in the operation and includes 30 newly commissioned profile artworks and detailed nose art views of the aircraft ranged against Iraq.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the story of how a strict Southern Baptist became a dedicated Catholic evangelist and teacher. The ways that God moved in my life were indeed strange. From early childhood until now His Holy Spirit has been my guide when I would follow and the one with the cattle prod when I hesitated. Some of the experiences told about in this book may cause skepticism, but every word is true! I have told some of the stories in different places, but this is the first time that the entire story has been written. It is my prayer that any who read it will be blessed and inspired to tell their own story.

This book was released on 2022-03-24 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All the stories you will read in this book are true. My life and travel experiences are a collection of true short stories—some serious, some seriously spiritual, and some funny—covering over seventy years, fifty of which I have been a daughter to God. What exactly is my life worth? God gave his Son for me. That’s huge. He did the same for you. I write this book for two reasons. The first, of course, is that you will get a glimpse of just how close God can be in your life even if you are not aware of it. God is always there for you as he has been for me. I will never leave thee or forsake thee. (Hebrews 13:5) The second reason is that laughing helps us live better. You will not only get a good laugh, but you will have an opportunity to share a good laugh with someone else Let me explain the “cake” part of this book. I took a cake-decorating course in San Diego, California, after marriage and two children. I loved it, and I began volunteering to do cakes for everyone I could. These stories I call “cake consequences” are hilarious and are thrown in at the end of this book. They are all true regardless of how crazy or laughable they might read.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since publishing the original edition of A Woman’s World in 1995, Travelers’ Tales has been the recognized national leader in women’s travel literature, and with the launch of the annual series The Best Travel Writing in 2004, the obvious next step was an annual collection of the best women’s travel writing of the year. This title is the ninth in that series—The Best Women’s Travel Writing—presenting stimulating, inspiring, and uplifting adventures from women who have traveled to the ends of the earth to discover new places, peoples, and facets of themselves. The common threads connecting these stories are a female perspective and fresh, compelling storytelling to make the reader laugh, weep, wish she were there, or be glad she wasn’t. The points of view and perspectives are global, and themes are as eclectic as in all of our books, including stories that encompass spiritual growth, hilarity and misadventure, high adventure, romance, solo journeys, stories of service to humanity, family travel, and encounters with exotic cuisine.
