O mercado remete-nos a um território praxiológico, com normas, teorias e pressupostos econômicos específicos. As ações no âmbito da sociedade adentram um mundo axiológico onde imperam os valores nas relações, entre os indivíduos, e deles com as instituições. A sociedade atual demonstra-se fortemente centrada no mercado, como resultado do avanço da atividade econômica, sobre as outras dimensões da vida social. Não há conhecimento de alguma sociedade no passado que esteve envolvida em um problema da magnitude que se enfrenta hoje, em todo o mundo. A predominância da racionalidade funcional sobre a substantiva leva a um discurso monológico e unidimensional, dirigido para valores mais relevantes aos padrões de mercado. O debate sobre a RSE tem sido pautado pelo discurso empresarial e se concentrado na face operacional da questão. É preciso romper esta centralidade, restabelecer níveis de atuação e inter-relação das racionalidades e éticas, formais e substantivas da sociedade, adotando uma perspectiva multicêntrica. Ilustrando o marco teórico, apresentamos um exemplo concreto baseado na investigação que foi realizada na Serasa S/A. Trata-se de um referencial empírico, cuja riqueza reside na possibilidade de mostrar, na prática, como uma empresa lida com a RSE.

The chapters in this book put forward the ideas of demodiversity, of high-intensity democracy, of the articulation between representative democracy and participatory democracy as well as, in certain contexts, between both these and other forms of democratic deliberation, such as the communitarian democracy of the indigenous and peasant communities of Africa, Latin America and Asia. The challenge undertaken in this book is to demand utopia, imagining a post-abyssal democracy that permits the democratizing, decolonizing, decommodifying and depatriarchalizing of social relations.
