This book was released on 2017-09-16 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A d104-Book of Ophthalmic Operations IN offering a second edition of the text-book we have not found it necessary to deviate much from the lines that we originally laid down. Our object was, and is, to give the student, in outline, the chief ways in which the various problems have been attacked, and to leave him to adapt some one of them to his varying requirements. When we produced the first edition no book had appeared in English on operative ophthalmic surgery for half a century. It was inevitable that the choice of operations which we made would not appeal to everyone, and we were more concerned in the classification than in the examples chosen to illustrate it. Yet we have been gratified to find that in books which have appeared since our choice has been upheld and the method of classification which we originated has been largely followed. It would be easy to multiply varieties of any operation, but this would swell the bulk of the book beyond our intention, and we have, in this edition, excised descriptions of various procedures which appeared in the first edition, and now seem to us unnecessary to our plan. Book excerpt: The Basic Bookshelf for Eyecare Professionals is a series that provides fundamental and advanced material with a clinical approach to clinicians and students. A special effort was made to include information needed for the certification exams in ophthalmic and optometric assisting, as well as for surgical assistants, opticians, plus low vision, and contact lens examiners. This book contains basic guidelines and typical scenarios that the ophthalmic surgical assistant needs to know. The text begins with the operative patient, including preoperative testing and consents, and travels through the operating room experience. Topics include gowning and gloving, preparing trays and tables, and sterilization techniques. Detailed descriptions of common operative procedures such as plastics, cataract, corneal, and retinal procedures are also included. Operative notes are written on a minute-by-minute basis so the reader can become familiar with the instruments and other implements, and the order in which they are used. This text will help prepare the ophthalmic assistant for any setting, whether it be hospital or office based.
