This memory is used to create new starting points for the tabu search by combining routes taken from different solutions represented in the adaptive memory. This approach is motivated by similar operators found in genetic algorithms, where two parent solutions are merged to create a new offspring solution. Computational results are reported for a number of standard test problems.
