Book excerpt: Human resources have been the most important and vital assets of any organization as the productivity of all other resources would depend upon people. The organization develops HRM practices for managing people effectively and help in their development. The word “Stress” has been frequently used to define many signs seen in working people. Work related stress affects productivity and that result in disagreement among workers and poor quality of work . Occupational Stress is due to work environment and family circumstances. Power Sector is known for hazardous work environment. Hence the present study aims at bringing a better understanding on stress related problems in power sector and identify the consequences of stress with a view to enable the employees in managing their stress.The units selected for the study included Koradi Thermal Power Station, Koradi and Khaparkheda Thermal Power Station, Khaparkheda. The sample size was 120, Random Sampling Method was applied to select sample employees from each unit. The researcher used personal interview method and observation method for collecting the required primary data. The statistical tools used to analyze the data with reference to the selected objectives of the study, include Simple Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, and correlation.Most of the employees in the power sector get stress due to their working conditions, management policies, work-life balance, work load, job satisfaction and psychological factors. Employees from senior and junior level experience almost same level of occupational stress which result from the various organizational and personal factors. A satisfactory human resource practices would result in stress free work life and high job satisfaction.
