This book was released on 2017-11-09 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acclaimed poet and social commentator Tanner Ashe's adolescent years were full of hardship and pain. This collection of works, written between her 14th and 20th birthdays reflect some of her darkest thoughts. Unlike the more sophisticated and joyous poetry she is most commonly known for, this collection gives voice to the pain of an abused child as she struggles with the rage and helplessness inherent to her victimization. Ms. Ashe has been lauded internationally as a beacon of light for rape and abuse victims. A Small Book of Disturbing Poetry shows the darker side of the artist, the pain, suffering and even fantasies expressed that paved the way for her ultimate healing. The work, though disturbing and simplistic, offers insight into a truly beautiful mind, and represents the progression from angry literary neophyte to the voice of recovery and love. This book will disturb, read it with the knowledge that the expressions of rage and pain within its pages made inspiration and healing possible.

Book excerpt: A Little Book of Poetry: For When Night Seems Dark is a collection of powerful and moving poems which remind us that although we will have difficulties in this world, we are not alone, unseen, or forgotten. That although at times we may feel like a small, insignificant being in this giant universe, we are of great importance to the One who created us. That in this world, we will experience joy and sorrow, tears and laughter, beginnings and endings, but with God at our side, we need never be without hope. This Little book is made up of 26 poems, each accompanied by a Bible verse and an original, full-color illustration.

Book excerpt: PUSH continues to break new ground with this remarkable poetry memoir of growing up, coming out, and exploring love. This is a memoir that is lived in moments. The moments you know - when you see your parents' marriage dissolving, when you realize you're a boy who likes boys, when you speak the truth and don't know if it will be heard. The moments you don't recognize until later - when you leave things unsaid (even to yourself), when you feel your boyfriend letting go, when you give up on love. And the moment you get love back. In an amazing narrative of poems, Billy Merrell tells an ordinary story in an extraordinary way.

Book excerpt: Visually arresting and utterly one-of-a-kind, Sarah J. Sloat's Hotel Almighty is a book-length erasure of Misery by Stephen King, a reimagining of the novel's themes of constraint and possibility in elliptical, enigmatic poems. Here, "joy would crawl over broken glass, if that was the way." Here, sleep is “a circle whose diameter might be small," a circle "pitifully small," a "wrecked and empty hypothetical circle." Paired with Sloat's stunning mixed-media collage, each poem is a miniature canvas, a brief associative profile of the psyche—its foibles, obsessions, and delights.

Book excerpt: This is the second collection of poems inspired by characters, stories and locations from "The Vault of Souls", a live evening of elegant fear set in Tampa Florida during the roaring 20's. This book gives guests who experienced this one-of-a-kind live piece of performance art a deeper understanding of the experience. But don't worry, this book is just as entertaining and disturbing for those who didn't get the chance to participate. For more information visit www.ElegantFear.com. Scott Swenson is known for his whimsically twisted approach to poetry. One critic of his first book (Dreaming in Shades of Fear) commented that Swenson's style is a "...twisted mix of Edgar Allan Poe and Dr. Seuss..." In the first collection, "souls: a collection of dark poetry", Swenson offers ghostly gothic horror with a vintage twist. In "left behind: a collection of dark poetry" he explores a more diverse palette of poetic forms and finds inspiration from deeper within "The Vault of Souls"

Where the roots of oak trees recover and repair from their time in the light. Where the porcupette eats delicacies—raspberry leaves!—and coos and sings. Come out to the cool, night wood, and buzz and hoot and howl—but do beware of the great horned owl—for it’s wild and it’s windy way out in the woods!

Book excerpt: "DARK POETRY" is a book authored by H. M. Ortiz and self-published during the national poetry month of April 2021. This book is notorious for it's sensitive poems involving God, COVID-19, poverty, toxic relationships, illness, suicide, and abortion. The front cover of the book visualizes a floating noose with the upper part of the rope transforming into a flower. According to the author, who in-fact hand-drew the artwork for this book; the drawing represents the two most drastic events in every person's life, which are; love and death. The artwork on the front cover is also featured in page seventeen, on the left side of one of the hardest poems to write, a Villanelle. The book ends with one the most touching micro-stories ever written; "Small hands" which is a conversation between an unborn child excited about life, the child's mother and "the men in white" which at the beginning, gives the reader the impression that the "men in white" might be referring to God or a divine entity but when the story ends; the "men in white" is in fact the doctor who performed the abortion of the child. Some of the most outstanding poems in this book are; "Withdrawn" referring to people that can't find joy in society. "Displaced" refers to eviction. "My child is dying" is about a father who is financially stable, however no science or medicine will cure his dying five year old and "For the nation" which talks about modern life culture, the dangers of media manipulation, and the lack of accountability from the government. The majority of the artwork displayed in this book has been hand-drawn by the author.

You will find few uplifting words in this book and little to inspire, soothe or even help you cope. What you will find within these pages are poems that express the darkness many fear yet others embrace. Some require you to take time to examine this bizarre existence we call life, to gain a glimpse into the mind of those who make these shadows their home. Some paint a vivid picture with words that capture the beauty amid the macabre. Some express a dark sense of humor that causes the little clown in my mind to display his sinister grin. In short this book is for the dark, demented and those just a bit twisted. So find yourself a dimly lit corner, curl up with some hot tea and pastries and enjoy spending time with me in my darkness. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Readers have called her work “life changing,” “pandemic medicine,” and “part of my daily ritual.” Oprah Magazine and the Today Show have featured her work for its timely, uplifting wisdom. Now, Self Love Philosopher Melody Godfred shares her first poetry book, Self Love Poetry: For Thinkers & Feelers, a collection of 200 thought-provoking and heart-opening self love poems. In Self Love Poetry, Godfred explores concepts like authenticity, surrender, resilience, gratitude, believing in yourself, and of course, love, through 100 pairs of poems, each dedicated to a central theme. On the left side of the book are "thinker" poems that light up the analytical, more literal, left side of the brain, and on the right side are companion "feeler" poems that speak to the creative, more emotional right side of the brain. Combined, the poems electrify the mind, body and soul through a completely unique poetry experience that inspires each of us to embrace all parts of ourselves. This empowering poetry book will not only engage you to think and feel, but will make you feel seen, show you how to love yourself, and encourage you to seek out the hope and beauty in the world … and in yourself. It’s the perfect gift for yourself or someone you love, especially after a most difficult year.
