Download or read book A Review of Unsteady Turbulent Boundary-layer Experiments written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The essential results of a comprehensive review of existing unsteady turbulent boundary-layer experiments are presented. Different types of unsteady flow facilities are described, and the related unsteady turbulent boundary-layer experiments are cataloged and discussed. The measurements that have been obtained in the various experiments are described, and a complete list of experimental results is presented. All the experiments that measured instantaneous values of velocity, turbulence intensity, or turbulent shear stress are identified, and the availability of digital data is indicated. The results of the experiments are analyzed, and several significant trends are identified. An assessment of the available data is presented, delineating gaps in the existing data, and indicating where new or extended information is needed. Guidelines for future experiments are presented. Book Synopsis Shock Wave-Boundary-Layer Interactions by : Holger Babinsky
Download or read book Shock Wave-Boundary-Layer Interactions written by Holger Babinsky and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2011-09-12 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shock wave-boundary-layer interaction (SBLI) is a fundamental phenomenon in gas dynamics that is observed in many practical situations, ranging from transonic aircraft wings to hypersonic vehicles and engines. SBLIs have the potential to pose serious problems in a flowfield; hence they often prove to be a critical - or even design limiting - issue for many aerospace applications. This is the first book devoted solely to a comprehensive, state-of-the-art explanation of this phenomenon. It includes a description of the basic fluid mechanics of SBLIs plus contributions from leading international experts who share their insight into their physics and the impact they have in practical flow situations. This book is for practitioners and graduate students in aerodynamics who wish to familiarize themselves with all aspects of SBLI flows. It is a valuable resource for specialists because it compiles experimental, computational and theoretical knowledge in one place.

Book Synopsis Study of Unsteady Turbulent Boundary Layers by : Angel Nicolas Menendez

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A turbulent boundary layer, subjected to a free-stream velocity which changes sinusiodally in time under a zero time mean pressure gradient, is studied both experimentally and analytically. Using a two-component Laser Doppler Anemometer and a Heat Flux Gage, detailed and high quality information is obtained on the instantaneous velocity distribution and wall shear stress, respectively, at various stations. An asymptotic theory, for large Reynolds numbers, is developed for the oscillatory motion. It is valid for both boundary layers at arbitrary time-mean pressure gradients and fully developed pipe and channel flow, and is successfully applied to the present and previous available experimental information. The theory identifies two frequency parameters, in terms of which four different frequency regimes are defined. Similarity laws are identified for each one of these frequency regimes. All the experimental data have been archived on magnetic tape. (Author).

Book Synopsis New Results in Numerical and Experimental Fluid Mechanics by : Horst Körner
Download or read book New Results in Numerical and Experimental Fluid Mechanics written by Horst Körner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the papers of the 10th AG STAB (German Aerospace Aerodynamics Association). In this association all those scientists and engineers from universities, research-establishments and industry are involved, who are doing research and project work in numerical and experimental fluid mechanics and aerodynamics for aerospace and other applications. Many of the contributions are giving first results from the "Luftfahrtforschungsprogramm der Bundesregierung (German Aeronautical Research Program) 1995-1998". Some of the papers report on work sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG, which also was presented at the symposium. The volume gives a broad overview over the ongoing work in this field in Germany.

Book excerpt: Coanda effect is a complex fluid flow phenomenon enabling the production of vertical take-off/landing aircraft. Other applications range from helicopters to road vehicles, from flow mixing to combustion, from noise reduction to pollution control, from power generation to robot operation, and so forth. Book starts with description of the effect, its history and general formulation of governing equations/simplifications used in different applications. Further, it gives an account of this effect’s lift boosting potential on a wing and in non-flying vehicles including industrial applications. Finally, occurrence of the same in human body and associated adverse medical conditions are explained.
