Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Proverb a Day Keeps the Devil Away applies the principles of God found in the Book of Proverbs to daily living. Illustrations are used to trigger the memories of its readers to past and present experiences in life; hopefully, causing the lesson of each devotion to profoundly impact the reader. These illustrations stem from relationships, home, work, play, decisions, reactions, thoughts, injustice and justice. Some are humorous and some very serious. Each one demonstrates the theme of that verse. The Book of Proverbs is as timely as time itself. Times have changed but people have not. They still face the hard issues of life: the same fears and hurts, the same temptations and sin, the same struggle with what is right and wrong, and the same questions about what role God really plays in their life. This devotional study aids its readers in getting a grip on these challenges. Philip Ayers was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on March 2nd, 1948. He is the second born of a family of five. Very early in his life, his family moved to Salem, Virginia, where he resided until he joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of seventeen. He served in the Viet Nam conflict. He was wounded three times, and was awarded the Navy Commendation Metal with Combat "V" for heroic action in the face of the enemy. Philip played quarterback for the Marine Corps' national football team, the Quantico Marines. He was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant. Philip was saved on March 30th, 1980. Jesus Christ called him to ministry in 1981. He is the pastor of a local church in Roanoke, Virginia. He brings a large pool of experience and Bible knowledge to his readers.

And in the "Dig Deeper" block, you'll be directed to dozens of other Scriptures that treat the same theme. You won't just spritz across the surface; you'll dig as deeply into the psalm as you want. And that's not all. The author provides what God's message is for you in the psalm, what you should do about that message, and suggests a prayer for you to talk with God. Book excerpt: It can no longer be assumed that most people--or even most Christians--have a basic understanding of the Bible. Many don't know the difference between the Old and New Testament, and even the more well-known biblical figures are often misunderstood. It is getting harder to talk about Jesus accurately and compellingly because listeners have no proper context with which to understand God's story of redemption. In this basic introduction to faith, D. A. Carson takes seekers, new Christians, and small groups through the big story of Scripture. He helps readers to know what they believe and why they believe it. The companion leader's guide helps evangelistic study groups, small groups, and Sunday school classes make the best use of this book in group settings.

What Was I Thinking? reveals marvelous links between the functions of the human brain, the Commandments of God, and your physical and emotional health. Presented in a reader-friendly discussion style, a strong case is made that people must choose whether to follow the path of stress (fear) or the path of faith. Understanding these links brings new insight to help you achieve healthier lifestyle results, including emotional and physical healing, freedom, and greater effectiveness for Christ. Filled with relevant Scripture passages, exciting personal testimonies, well-defined anatomical terms, and Points to Ponder, this book provides much spiritually enriched food for thought for all believers. Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. (Proverbs 16:3 KJV) Major themes that will intrigue and entice you include: the direct link between thoughts and physical and spiritual health; brain functions; the importance of forgiveness; exhortations to obey the Word; and a variety of wrong concepts that keep many Christians from choosing health and joy over bondage. We believe this teaching with practical application is the key to winning back what the enemy has stolen your mind so that you can be restored to health and go and do all that God has called you to do! Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book title of part 2 is Identity. The heart, mind, and will of God is that we as the peoples around the globe know who God is, understand the love of God in that He deeply and faithfully loves you without bias, and that God wants you to come to a place of sincere faith where you stop running from God and take responsibility for your sins right now! How do we get our identity in the first place? By faith in God (Heb. 11:1-6 and John 3:1-18). Henceforward, it is by faith, trust, and hope in the LORD Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:8-10) by calling upon His holy name (Ps. 18:1-3), confessing (Rom. 10:9-17) and repenting (Prov. 28:13 and Matt. 4:17 and Mark 1:15) of your sins. True repentance (willfully and decisively forsaking our unholy anti-God thinking, believing, habits, speaking, and behavior) is the fear of the LORD in being sorry for your sins deliberately and turning to God asking for forgiveness while declaring with audible speaking that Jesus Christ is the living Son of God, raised from the grave on the third day. This is salvation, and it is free! Do you know my friend Jesus? Identity found in Christ and explained in Part Two helps us to answer the following critical questions that our teenagers and millions of peoples around the world are asking right now: Who am I? What is my identity? What is my name that no one seems to know or care about? Why was I even born in the first place? Why am I alive today? What's the point to my life, and what is my purpose? Where do I fit in? Where am I? Why should I keep living? Why should I care? Why should I not take all these drugs or slit my wrists/throat right now? Does anyone love me? Does anyone care about me? Does God see me? Does God care about me or love me? Where is God right now? The solution to our global identity crisis is found in the love of God through the cross of Jesus Christ. The power, grace, mercy, and compassion of Christ is the only solution that can even begin to answer the above listed identity questions. The identity scream is horrifying and real! Peoples around the world are screaming in their souls right now: "Just bring me to Jesus!" Only Jesus Christ can fill our souls. Not money, sex, drugs, alcohol, or anything in this world can save our souls from sin or fulfill us with true peace and happiness. Pray before and during the reading of Part Two. Ask God what He wants to do with and through your life (Luke 8:21 and Luke 9:23). Praise the LORD (Ps. 150:1-6).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is Written: Praying the Psalms of Protection is a 30-Day personalized, scripture prayer devotional, designed to help the reader pray for protection and deliverance using some of the psalms that David prayed with when faced with danger, fear and persecution. Building on the example of Jesus Christ who quoted and clarified Scripture in response to satan's temptations in the desert, it takes into consideration that the psalms were written under a Mosaic law that allowed for revenge and curses on one's enemies, whereas Christ has requested that we pray for and bless our enemies, something that is not always easy to do. Selected psalms that cry for protection and deliverance are thus formatted into personalized prayers from the perspective of a Christian faith that leaves vengeance to God; invokes the name of Jesus for efficacy, and leans on His grace to pray for adversaries. Readers can be confident that they are using prayers based on the Covenant of Laws in a manner that is consistent with the Covenant of Grace mediated by Christ. Furthermore, we know that the world is becoming an increasingly dangerous place and prayers for the safe-keeping of our souls, our bodies, our loved ones, and Christ's Church cannot be over-emphasized. This book hinges on the belief that God is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. Given the uncommon favor that God repeatedly showed the Psalmist, protecting and delivering him from multiple adversarial situations; one could deduce that it is a good idea to use tried and tested prayers that found favor with God, as a foundation or supporting fact for one's pleas at the Throne of Grace. The God of David is also our Father, and we have the additional privilege that David did not have; His Son, Jesus Christ, interceding for us at the Father's right hand. This is a book that will inspire you to begin praying with scripture if you are not doing so, and encourage you to be more expansive with the way you pray with scripture if you are already doing so.

Book excerpt: Life Is Never Mainly About Love and Marriage. So Learn to Live and Date for More. Many of you grew up assuming that marriage would meet all of your needs and unlock God's purposes for you. But God has far more planned for you than your future marriage. Not Yet Married is not about waiting quietly in the corner of the world for God to bring you "the one," but about inspiring you to live and date for more now. If you follow Jesus, the search for a spouse is no longer a pursuit of the perfect person, but a pursuit of more of God. He will likely write a love story for you different than the one you would write for yourself, but that's because he loves you and knows how to write a better story. This book was written to help you find real hope, happiness, and purpose in your not-yet-married life.
