Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Read Me a Rhyme, Please! is designed for two age groups: children as yet unable to read and older children who not only can read but can also answer the follow-up questions. The non-readers will enjoy listening to Ernestine Beyer’s bouncing, melodious rhythms in shorter versions of the poems. The older children will enjoy a range of activities related to the complete versions of the poems, with help from teachers or caregivers when needed. Read Me a Rhyme, Please! is a book that little ones will grow into. As the poems become increasingly familiar, an enriched vocabulary will seep into their consciousness, along with an enduring appreciation of fine poetry. Before long they will be eager to read the entire poems themselves and choose the right answers to the questions. The book’s amusing illustrations will appeal both to children and their caregivers in school or at home.
Book Synopsis The Natural Method Readers by : Hannah Theresa McManus
Download or read book The Natural Method Readers written by Hannah Theresa McManus and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-07-26 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Natural Method Readers: A Primer This book consists almost entirely of nursery rhymes and of sentences in which the words of these rhymes occur. In the case of longer rhymes or those calling for ex tended treatment the rhyme is first printed as a whole so that the teacher may read it to the class. Then portions of the rhyme are given in prose form in such a way that the child may become familiar with the words. Finally, the completed rhyme is presented to be read by the pupils. The rhyme thus becomes a part of the child's mental equipment, and is made to serve as a key to the recognition of words. It takes but little practice to enable the pupil to pick out the words of the rhyme. The skillful teacher does not take up the book in the first stages of instruction. The work is begun on the blackboard, and oral work necessarily forms a great part of the instruction. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Mother Goose Primer This little Primer, for children just beginning to read, is written in the belief that their first reading lessons will appeal most strongly to their interest if founded on ideas which are already familiar. Before the children are allowed to read from the book they should have much blackboard reading based upon the Mother Goose rhymes which are here used. Each rhyme in the book is preceded by a full-page illustra tion. The children will readily talk about the picture, and will then be eager to read the simple sentences which follow the rhyme, and conclude with a prose version of the rhyme, a page of review sentences, and a page of action sentences.
