Book Synopsis Finite Element Analysis of Prestressed Concrete Structures Using Post-Tensioning Steel by : Yu Huang
Download or read book Finite Element Analysis of Prestressed Concrete Structures Using Post-Tensioning Steel written by Yu Huang and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2020-05-28 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book details the theory and applications of finite element (FE) modeling of post-tensioned (PT) concrete structures, and provides the updated MATLAB code (as of 2019). The challenge of modeling PT prestressed concrete structures lies in the treatment of the interface between the concrete and prestressing tendons. Using MATLAB, this study develops an innovative nonlinear FE formulation which incorporates contact techniques and engineering elements to considerably reduce the need of computational power. This FE formulation has the ability to simulate different PT frame systems with fully bonded, fully unbonded or partially bonded tendons, as well as actual sliding behavior and frictional effects in the tendons. It also allows for the accurate simulation of anchor seating loss.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1 957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna tional publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 28 (thesis year 1 983) a total of 10,661 theses titles from 26 Canadian and 197 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 28 reports theses submitted in-1983, on occasion, certain univer sities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book Synopsis Nonlinear Finite Element Modelling of Rectangular and Dapped End Beams Under Impact Load by : Esra'a Sami Hijah
Download or read book Nonlinear Finite Element Modelling of Rectangular and Dapped End Beams Under Impact Load written by Esra'a Sami Hijah and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The performance of reinforced concrete beams subjected to dynamic load has been of importance in the design of any structure nowadays, especially bridges and railways. This research includes the finite element modeling approaches and some analysis results of two different types of reinforced concrete beams, rectangular and dapped-end beams subjected to impact load. Both types are used in various applications and structures which can be subjected to impact loads. Many studies have been concluded on the performance of reinforced concrete rectangular beams under different types of dynamic loading but none were completed on dapped-end beams under the same loading. This study reports on the performance of dapped-end and rectangular beams under impact load. In order to achieve a better understanding of their performance, finite element models were simulated after verifying a previously experimented rectangular reinforced concrete beam. Later on a desired parametric study was completed on different models. Since no previous studies were found on reinforced concrete dapped-end beams under impact loading, the same modeling techniques of the verified beam was applied on all dapped-end beam models. The details of complete parametric studies are presented in this research along with all the results and observations of the effect of each parameter. Main parameters studied are concrere compressive strength, detailing of main and special shear reinforcement. This study presents the modeling approaches, analysis results and failure modes under the conducted parametric study done on both dapped-end and rectangular beams subjected to impact load. As expected compressive strength had the main effect on shear strength of both beams among other parameters. In rectangular beam reinforcement layout had the main effect in sustaining impact load. Under impact load shear failure was the common failure mode of dapped end beams while flexural failure mode was dominant in rectangular reinforced beams. Special shear reinforcement and main dapped-end reinforcement helped only in controlling the growth of main cracks but not increasing the shear strenngth of dapped-end beams.
