Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The year was 1978 in early June. Vivian and Lucia Olivarez had just accepted Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior. They had been prophesied too many times that their children would all serve the Lord and that all their children would testify and be ministers of the Word of God. This prophecy has been fulfilled. Then in early 2009, they were prophesied again for the third time that they would have a son. This son would be the most rebellious of all their children, and he would be used greatly by God. My name is Leandro Lenn Olivarez. I am the youngest of five children. I am also the copastor of Templo De Alabanza (Temple of Praise) ministry in Rockport, Texas. Under the direct leadership of Senior Pastor Vivian Olivarez, I have been preaching now for over five years. After growing up in the Lord and backsliding, I have seen the ministry of God change so much that it hurts. I can only imagine how God feels. I have spent the majority of my life running from God, and that very rebellion brought some very bad, evil spirits into my life. I was, at one point of my life, a drug user. I was also a heavy metal drummer and radio DJ, chasing after all the wrong things. My parents, who also happen to be my pastors, never stopped praying for me. This book is to show that your life has a greater purpose and it may have already begun. Submitting to God is the first step. What you are about to read are real-life testimonies from me and my family. We have seen the mighty hand of God in our family and in the ministry that God has placed before us. You are also going to see Gods hand in-depth on how he worked in our lives and the difference between believing and true faith deep down. At a very young age, I was exposed to the real full power of God, and this very truth rattled my soul to the very core of my inner being. Another thing God showed me is that everyone believes in something, but believing in the unknown and the unseen is a step of faith. Jesus said that all you have to do is believe because if you can start there with your belief, nothing is impossible. I have encountered evil spirits. I have fought them through the name and the blood of Jesus. I have had encounters with demons; and a witch even sat at my dining room table, looked me in the eye, and threatened me to my face. God showed me that true repentance and the name and the blood of Jesus are the only way to break the curses and be set free. Please pray to the Lord that he will open your spiritual eyes so that you may see what he wants you to see. There is nothing in this whole world that anyone can say to me to change my mind that God still heals people and sets people free from demonic forces. I am a witness to Gods full power. I have seen with my eyes demons back away at the name of Jesus. I asked the Lord that in the name of Jesus Christ, you will receive a blessing from God while you are reading this book. All honor and all glory to my savior, Jesus Christ.

Book excerpt: More and more women are having babies after the age of thirty-five and experiencing the joy of motherhood. But mothers-to-be in this age group sometimes face unique medical, emotional, and social challenges. Conception may be difficult and the risk of miscarriage during early pregnancy is higher, as is the potential for complications such as hypertension and diabetes. And having a child later in life can also be surprisingly disruptive to well-established domestic routines and carefully cultivated careers. Michele Moore and Caroline de Costa—two physicians who have been down this road themselves—offer reliable medical expertise and personal reassurance to women tackling these challenges. Pregnancy and Parenting after Thirty-Five covers a broad range of issues for mothers in mid life, from the possibility of Cesarean section to the awkwardness of being the oldest mom at PTA meetings to the joy of holding your infant in your arms. Incorporating the stories of real women who have gone through mid-life pregnancy, Moore and de Costa have created a valuable resource that will help other women do so realistically and with confidence. One of the few books devoted to prospective mothers over thirty-five, this one also includes information on surrogacy, adoption, and the first few months of being a new mother.

Book excerpt: From the author of a Guardian memoir of the year 2022 "A cartoon fried egg. An eye. The tiniest of black holes. It needed a professional eye to be seen, but once pointed out it was undeniable. My own little Big Bang. The beginning of it all." When Chitra Ramaswamy discovered she was pregnant for the first time, she longed to read something that went above and beyond a biology book or prescriptive manual; something that, instead, got to the heart of the overwhelming, thrilling, and often misrepresented experience she was embarking on. She couldn’t find one. So, she wrote Expecting. Expecting is a creative memoir. Through nine chapters exploring the nine months of gestation and birth, Ramaswamy takes the reader on a physical, intellectual, emotional, literary, and philosophical journey through the landscape of pregnancy. Childbearing and childbirth are experiences defined both by the measurable monthly changes to one's life and body, and by those immeasurable, often obscured and neglected changes in perspective that are accessed through metaphor, art, and emotion. Ramaswamy bears witness to the experience of pregnancy in an intimate yet expansive book of lyrical essays, paying tribute to this most extraordinary and ordinary of experiences.

Book excerpt: Words and recipes for the new mother. For many first-time mothers expectations about their new life come from idealised images on TV, in magazines or online. It's a far cry from what it actually involves: lack of sleep, time and control - and total dependency on you by another. Becoming a mother brings extraordinary physical and emotional changes to a woman's life, but it also taps into deep instincts. Heidi Sze's message is to surrender to the changes, reject the guilt and accept the imperfect reality of this new life. Adjusting expectations and being true to your unique needs will bring a comfort, joy and peace that slavishly following rules, imposing unreachable standards and accumulating rooms of gadgets are unlikely to do. As women go through this profound transition, it is crucial that they identify their support needs and trust their intuition. This book will help women do just that. Many people know Heidi from her blog Apples Under My Bed and Instagram account @heidiapples. Her beautiful words and special focus here on nourishment - with special new-life recipes - will help mothers - and fathers - nurture with reassurance the new life in their hands.

Book excerpt: The queen is dead. But the damage Elizabeth Rostoff leaves behind to lives, hopes, and relationships lives on. Seven years ago, Peter Rostoff severed all ties with his family—including his sister, Kat. But at his father’s insistence, he reluctantly returns for the funeral worn thin by his FBI position and burdened by a secret shame. But mostly by one haunting mystery—why the woman he loved like a mother disappeared… All those years ago, Natasha Sokolova thought abandoning Dmitry Rostoff and the children she’d come to love as her own was the right thing, the only thing, to do. Resurfacing after Elizabeth’s death isn’t the healing experience she’d prayed for, but a gut-wrenching discovery of yet more secrets, and news that could destroy her for good. Kat Rostoff lives in a bubble filled with her doting father and a mentor that helped mold her into a world-renowned artist. Yet nothing can fill the empty space, and a vague sense of guilt, left behind by the mother figure she barely remembers, and the brother who fled Paris seven years ago without looking back. Four lives, set on diverging paths with only a glimmer of hope for reconciliation. But will the queen’s evil reach out from beyond the grave to destroy it for good?

Book excerpt: A brilliant exploration of the natural, medical, psychological, and political facets of fertility When Belle Boggs's "The Art of Waiting" was published in Orion in 2012, it went viral, leading to republication in Harper's Magazine, an interview on NPR's The Diane Rehm Show, and a spot at the intersection of "highbrow" and "brilliant" in New York magazine's "Approval Matrix." In that heartbreaking essay, Boggs eloquently recounts her realization that she might never be able to conceive. She searches the apparently fertile world around her--the emergence of thirteen-year cicadas, the birth of eaglets near her rural home, and an unusual gorilla pregnancy at a local zoo--for signs that she is not alone. Boggs also explores other aspects of fertility and infertility: the way longing for a child plays out in the classic Coen brothers film Raising Arizona; the depiction of childlessness in literature, from Macbeth to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?; the financial and legal complications that accompany alternative means of family making; the private and public expressions of iconic writers grappling with motherhood and fertility. She reports, with great empathy, complex stories of couples who adopted domestically and from overseas, LGBT couples considering assisted reproduction and surrogacy, and women and men reflecting on childless or child-free lives. In The Art of Waiting, Boggs deftly distills her time of waiting into an expansive contemplation of fertility, choice, and the many possible roads to making a life and making a family.
