Book excerpt: Walking, The Way is the inspiring true testimony of a man who was obsessed with his own needs and desires for over 35 years. A survivor of childhood sexual, physical, psychological, and emotional abuse, he became consumed by sin. Immorality, idolatry, pride, bitterness, hatred, anger, and drugs and alcohol came incredibly close to destroying his life. Then, one day, everything changed. In the time it took to see death coming and not even have the chance to take a breath—never mind pray for forgiveness—the man was spared. Awakened to how close he’d come to losing everything, including God, he was born again into a new life, and a new role as a disciple. In His mercy, God saved this man, delivered him from self-destruction and the surety of hell... all through His amazing Grace. A testament to the power and work of God the Holy Spirit, Walking, the Way reveals the importance of faith and trust in the only true God of the Bible. Learn how forgiveness begins the healing process, and how God’s Word is truly the only way to renew your mind. See how effectual prayer, done in awe of the amazing power of God and His love, is sustenance for the disciple, confirming one’s belief while granting the ability and strength to face life’s trials with confidence. Before it’s too late, consider your life, your thoughts, your actions. Remember what’s at risk—separation from Him, forever. Then ask yourself, “Am I born of the Spirit?”

Tapscott's book explores humanity in a way that is vibrantly vivid and personally accessible to the reader. Many questions that we have probably asked ourselves at one time or another are addressed: what is homelessness, why does it exist, are they just on drugs, how do I help, when is helping really enabling, and why does it bother me so much in the first place? Here is a compilation of experiences from Tapscott's experimental journey into life on the streets, his own volunteer work, and his fascinating interviews with individuals utilizing and individuals working for the social service system. Homeless Hero is a case study, an experiment, an adventure, and a multi-layered examination of American society that seeks to help you expand your understanding of homelessness and more importantly your own humanity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever felt someone's eyes on the back of your head? Or perhaps you may have known who was on the phone, even before you lifted the receiver. Science calls these moments of knowing anomalies. If an anomaly cannot be measured it does not exist so far as science is concerned. I wonder how science measures a mind. Whenever I feel someone's eyes boring into the back of my head I ask myself if the brain can transmit information, and given the measurements carried out on the brain I have concluded that the answer lies elsewhere. All of the evidence points to mind being non-local, and what that means can be more than you have bargained for. For a start it means that mind exists outside of time and space, and points to the likelihood that conscious awareness can exist beyond the body: even beyond this particular life. And since mind exercises the faculty of memory, its content must also be outside of time and space. This last point was particularly helpful to the people who sought my assistance as a healer when they were facing death. My anomaly was always able to make some real contribution to them, and I hope it does the same for you.

Book excerpt: Recoded City examines alternative urban design, planning and architecture for the other 90%: namely the practice of participatory placemaking, a burgeoning practice that co-author Thomas Ermacora terms ‘recoding’. In combining bottom-up and top-down means of regenerating and rebalancing neighbourhoods affected by declining welfare or struck by disaster, this growing movement brings greater resilience. Recoded City sheds light on a new epoch in the relationship between cities and civil society by presenting an emerging range of collaborative solutions and distributed governance models. The authors draw on their own fresh research of global pioneers forging localist design strategies, public-realm interventions and new stakeholder dynamics. As the world becomes increasingly digital and virtual, a myriad of online tools and technological options is becoming available. These give unprecedented co-creation opportunities to communities and professionals alike, yielding the benefits of a more open – DIY – society. Because of its close engagement with people, place and local identity, the field of participatory placemaking has huge untapped potential. Responding to the challenges of the Anthropocene era, Recoded City is for decision-makers, developers and practitioners working globally to make better and more liveable cities.
