Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is written with the sincere conviction that it will convey a message other than the one we have been led to accept about Biblical and other ancient texts. It may change your experience in the way you view life and the concept of God and religion, as well as your relationship with those beliefs. This book is about ancient principles contained in the Bible and many other documents inscribed long ago, such as the Nag Hammadi Library and the Dead Sea Scrolls. Words paint mental pictures that enfold in our minds, and we call this "getting answers." At times, we take these images as the only truth there is, since we can see or imagine it. We base this personally conceived truth on what we learn in life. Should we not ask ourselves: what if all this is based on falsehoods? These mental illustrations - that we call "thoughts" - are founded solely on what we have seen or read. Most of the time, we compare them, and in this fashion, we develop personal beliefs according to our choices. This practice is not specifically reserved for the individual. It spreads throughout our society, when each and every human experiences the same event or feeling, or reads a similar book. As a result, the collective mindset - sometimes called the "over mind" - now generates large-scale belief systems that, in time, we have termed as "religion." Entire nations have been known to bond in the same creed. Even when founded with the best of intentions, these systems tend to bind us as a group, with one mindset going in one direction, while offering no other alternatives. In some respects, this direction may not necessarily be the best or ideal goal toward which we can journey. It does limit us in the centuries-old matter pertaining to God or the God Head, and it affects our individual experience. It also influences what we know about the ancient teachers and prophets of long ago.

Book excerpt: A metaphysical interpretation of the New Testament, which teaches oneness as the only truth, and surrender (or letting go) as the practice that leads to spiritual enlightenment. NTI stresses the importance of willingness, acceptance, gratitude, mind-watching and trust on the path of enlightenment while teaching the reader to let go of unworthiness, fear, guilt and false (or separation-based) thinking. NTI has been described as a love letter and as a loving approach to letting go of the ego. Following on from the strength of A Course in Miracles NTI teaches us how to experience the oneness of God here and now by showing us exactly how to release the obstacles that prevent us from having that experience.

Book excerpt: Jesus the Christ was an enlightened teacher of consciousness. Like the Buddha and other enlightened beings over the ages, he was born to this world to show us how to master our minds, to teach us how to inwardly align ourselves to a Universal, Infinite, Loving, Creative Intelligence, and to demonstrate how to master the Law of Cause and Effect. "Let's Get Metaphysical" digs deeper into the teachings of Jesus to unearth Divine Truth. Jesus spoke in code, requiring us to turn inward, reflect, and de-code the metaphysical Truth behind his teachings. Like the morning sun, the hidden meaning in Jesus' parables rises and enlightens when you see it with your inner spiritual eyes and listen with your spiritual ears. Jesus was teaching us about love, forgiveness, ego relinquishment, true and false belief systems, mental and physical healing, faith, oneness, humility, mindfulness, the illusion of past and future, commitment, persistence, affirmative prayer, the Law of Attraction, the Law of Circulation, and the Law of Substance. These are the spiritual principles culled from Jesus' teachings and written about in "Let's Get Metaphysical."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the introduction. Neville Goddard's Interpretation of Scripture is a compilation from Neville's 10 books and a few of his lectures. In my opinion Neville decoded the Bible in such a light that the truth can finally be known. Many who enjoy the old familiar verses of Scripture are discouraged when they themselves try to read the Bible as they would any other book because, quite excusably, they do not understand that the Bible is written in the language of symbolism. Not knowing that all of its characters are personifications of the laws and functions of mind; that the Bible is psychology rather than history, they puzzle their brains over it for a while and then give up. It is all too mystifying. To understand the significance of its imagery, the reader of the Bible must be imaginatively awake. - Neville Goddard Hardcover Edition

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rise of modernity, especially the European Enlightenment and its aftermath, has negatively impacted the way we understand the nature and interpretation of Christian Scripture. In this introduction to biblical interpretation, Craig Carter evaluates the problems of post-Enlightenment hermeneutics and offers an alternative approach: exegesis in harmony with the Great Tradition. Carter argues for the validity of patristic christological exegesis, showing that we must recover the Nicene theological tradition as the context for contemporary exegesis, and seeks to root both the nature and interpretation of Scripture firmly in trinitarian orthodoxy.

Book excerpt: This book, first published more than 70 years ago, is the key to the metaphysical teachings of Charles Fillmore, the co-founder of Unity. In it you will find fascinating quotations and comments on metaphysical subjects including the reality of God, the nature of humankind, and the purpose of Mind. You will find that Mind does two crucial things: it creates and emits Divine Ideas. You will see that true, perfect nature is what metaphysical thinkers know as an idea. The Divine Idea for human beings is given a special term, the Christ. Divine Ideas form the "pattern" from which things in the material world are expressed. These are fascinating metaphysical ideas from the heart and pen of America's preeminent metaphysician-Ideas from God-Mind.

Book excerpt: In six closely-reasoned chapters, Joseph Gordon presents a detailed account of a Christian doctrine of Scripture in the fullest context of systematic theology. Divine Scripture in Human Understanding addresses the confusing plurality of contemporary approaches to Christian Scripture—both within and outside the academy—by articulating a traditionally grounded, constructive systematic theology of Christian Scripture. Utilizing primarily the methodological resources of Bernard Lonergan and traditional Christian doctrines of Scripture recovered by Henri de Lubac, it draws upon achievements in historical-critical study of Scripture, studies of the material history of Christian Scripture, reflection on philosophical hermeneutics and philosophical and theological anthropology, and other resources to articulate a unified but open horizon for understanding Christian Scripture today. Following an overview of the contemporary situation of Christian Scripture, Joseph Gordon identifies intellectual precedents for the work in the writings of Irenaeus, Origen, and Augustine, who all locate Scripture in the economic work of the God to whom it bears witness by interpreting it through the Rule of Faith. Subsequent chapters draw on Scripture itself; classical sources such as Irenaeus, Origen, Augustine, and Aquinas; the fruit of recent studies on the history of Scripture; and the work of recent scholars and theologians to provide a contemporary Christian articulation of the divine and human locations of Christian Scripture and the material history and intelligibility and purpose of Scripture in those locations. The resulting constructive position can serve as a heuristic for affirming the achievements of traditional, historical-critical, and contextual readings of Scripture and provides a basis for addressing issues relatively underemphasized by those respective approaches.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biblical interpretation is facing a crisis. Is Biblical interpretation the result of someone's particular perspective or personal point of view? Is there no basis upon which we can discover and hold to a "correct" interpretation? More and more authors are surrendering to the influence of Postmodern relativism. This malady is not limited to non-evangelicals. The pervasiveness of a Postmodern perspectivism propagated through the notions of presuppositions, preunderstanding, world views, horizon, paradigms, historicism, and a host of other approaches that are often confusing to a committed Christian who simply wants to understand God's Word. Objectivity in Biblical Interpretation analyzes and explains the current crisis of objectivity and presents a reasoned defense of objective interpretation that directly confronts the relativistic claims of Postmodern relativism.
