Book excerpt: Being spiritually enlightened means possessing wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. The dictionary meaning of "enlighten" is to illuminate, with its Old English roots meaning "to remove the dimness or blindness," which is usually used figuratively as "from one's eyes or heart," or to provide intellectual light, or "shed light upon." Seeking enlightenment is part of the human experience. Is its attainment possible? At every juncture of life, there are many ups and downs. And every moment you need motivation and encouragement. It may be from yourself and from your dear ones. However, the question arises, how? If nobody is around you, then, it's only you to motivate and encourage yourself; because life is a lone journey. First, think and then act. Always remember, that you're the only one who can change yourself and nobody can change you. If you want to light the darkness of your life, then enlighten your vision of life and clear your mission of life. It's a collection of inspirational poems.

Book excerpt: "A departure at right angles to thinking in the modern Western world. An important, original work, that should get the widest possible hearing" (Iain McGilchrist, author of The Master and his Emissary) Middle Way Philosophy is not about compromise, but about the avoidance of dogma and the integration of conflicting assumptions. To rely on experience as our guide, we need to avoid the interpretation of experience through unnecessary dogmas. Drawing on a range of influences in Buddhist practice, Western philosophy and psychology, Middle Way Philosophy questions alike the assumptions of scientific naturalism, religious revelation and political absolutism, trying to separate what addresses experience in these doctrines from what is merely assumed. This Omnibus edition of Middle Way Philosophy includes all four of the volumes previously published separately: 1. The Path of Objectivity, 2. The Integration of Desire, 3. The Integration of Meaning, and 4. The Integration of Belief.

If we have the light of Christ in our heart, we discover, it is there to shine both for ourselves and for others and to guide us ever closer to the mystery of God. Book excerpt: Find comfort in dark times and grow your trust and faith in God with this inspiring and insightful guide from Lakewood Church pastor and #1 New York Times bestselling author Joel Osteen. All of us will go through dark times that we don't understand: a difficulty with a friend, an unfair situation at work, a financial setback, an unexpected illness, a divorce, or the loss of a loved one. Those types of experiences are part of the human journey. But when we find ourselves in such a place, it's important that we keep a positive perspective. Joel Osteen writes that if we stay in faith and keep a good attitude when we go through challenges, we will not only grow, but we will see how all things work together for our good. Through practical applications and scriptural insight, Blessed in the Darkness focuses on how to draw closer to God and trust Him when life doesn't make sense. If we will go through the dark place in the valley trusting, believing, and knowing that God is still in control, we will come to the table that is already prepared for us, where our cup runs over.

Book excerpt: I want to teach about illumination, which is similar to the word enlightenment. Whenever we talk about illumination, we are talking about access to light, knowledge, information. Like we have the people we call elite, those who have illumination, they have been able to train their minds, program their minds to function in a dimension to the extent they have been able to drive out ignorance. Ignorance is dangerous and the strength of darkness is ignorance. Ignorance is absence of light, strategy, illumination, and understanding. There is ignorance in the body, and we have to content with God's strength to drive away this darkness, otherwise the days that are coming will embarrass us very seriously. The days that are coming is separating the church into two different parts. It's either you know what you're know doing or don't know what you're doing. The disciples kept walking with Jesus. They thought they were understanding what He was teaching and one time he went to the mountain of transfiguration and they were happy to shine. They brought somebody who had an epileptic condition, and the disciples couldn't heal him. When Jesus came down from the mountain, they were hoping Jesus also will not be able to heal, so that they could believe there's nothing special and Jesus proved them wrong. Is it not amazing how you feel when other people fail in what you failed, to make your failure looks not special? It's so frustrating when where you failed you see someone walking out flawlessly, it cancels all excuses you would have given. That's why they hated Jesus, because every time Jesus showed up, his life and his actions were message that frustrated them. Jesus ministered to the person and once he's healed. I pray ignorance will be dismissed from your life forever. Amen. We never knew the strength of the power we have with until we have the power of illumination. Illumination is a very interesting word. Everything in your life is at the mercy of light. Your breakthrough in life is at the mercy of light. Read This Book and Be Blessed

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What role do metaphors play in philosophical language? Are they impediments to clear thinking and clear expression, rhetorical flourishes that may well help to make philosophy more accessible to a lay audience, but that ought ideally to be eradicated in the interests of terminological exactness? Or can the images used by philosophers tell us more about the hopes and cares, attitudes and indifferences that regulate an epoch than their carefully elaborated systems of thought? In Paradigms for a Metaphorology, originally published in 1960 and here made available for the first time in English translation, Hans Blumenberg (1920-1996) approaches these questions by examining the relationship between metaphors and concepts. Blumenberg argues for the existence of "absolute metaphors" that cannot be translated back into conceptual language. "Absolute metaphors" answer the supposedly naïve, theoretically unanswerable questions whose relevance lies quite simply in the fact that they cannot be brushed aside, since we do not pose them ourselves but find them already posed in the ground of our existence. They leap into a void that concepts are unable to fill. An afterword by the translator, Robert Savage, positions the book in the intellectual context of its time and explains its continuing importance for work in the history of ideas.
