Book excerpt: America is out of control. Political correctness rules the world. Irresponsible people make the rules. Government wastes, whining politicians, party line voting, our failed education system, judges making laws, and all we do is keep ignoring the abuse being dealt to us on a daily basis. We are being abused by our own ignorance. There are stupid people and there are those of us who are just ignorant. If you do not know what ignorance means, look it up. Politicians who are dying to turn America into a socialist society, where the government controls every aspect of our lives, are attacking us. Your friends, your neighbors, your bank, your employers, your employees, and everyone else are just waiting for the chance to cheat, steal, or just abuse you. Who is going to get you next? With a no-holds-barred approach, author Bear Brooks shares his thoughts and feelings on the state of America today. His outspoken discussions center around politicians, the rapid rise of lawsuits, environmentalists, dating, and marriage. Candid and bold, Brooks will make you stop and think about issues that affect us all.

Every piece is falling into place–especially now that I’ve found the woman of my dreams, the woman I love, Mia Strong. I’m at the top of my game. …Until we hit a rough patch and Mia starts acting differently, strangely. She’s hiding something and I can sense she needs my help but the more I try to get close, the harder she pulls away. I’m a problem-solver by nature and I want to take control, protect her, but she won’t let me. This is one problem I can’t solve by writing a check or a few clever lines of code. I’ll have to dig deep and put myself at risk–or risk losing her forever.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Texan Santa Fe expedition was conceived by Mirabeau B. Lamar in an attempt to open a trade route which would lure away some of the traffic hitherto utilizing the Santa Fe trade, and also to extend his greetings to residents of New Mexico, whom he wished to participate in Texas government as residents of territory claimed by Texas in an act of 1836. Due to poor navigation, faulty planning and harassment by Indians, the expedition lost most of its momentum. Upon their arrival in New Mexico, the entire force was taken captive under orders of Gov. Manuel Armijo. The prisoners were forcibly marched to Mexico City, and the affair brought relations between Texas, the United States and Mexico to a boiling point. Those who survived the march and imprisonment were released in April 1842, six and a half months after their capture. Kendall, editor of the New Orleans Picayune, accompanied the expedition as an observer.

The Martin twins and their paramours pay their respects to their adversaries who died in front of them on their way to a life-time incarceration. Encountering the treachery and blatant lies from the Steele family, Myrena Gorgona a SuperPower SuperModel forms a new feminine SuperPower organization she calls the “Lemnian Deeds Federation.” She opposes the two male dominated, operated SuperPower groups: the DODGE (Department of Defense Genetically Engineered) Initiative and the ‘Golden Eagle’ Organization. The Lemnian Deeds welcomes all SuperPowered individuals and non-SuperPower females as the non-SuperPower males survive as domesticated servants. -How does the DODGE Initiative and their adversary the ‘Golden Eagle’ Organization deal with Myrena Georgia and her new ‘Lemnian Deeds’ Federation?’ -Follow the new recruits of the ‘Lemnian Deeds’ Federation having new SuperPower abilities and experiences. -Does the old adage “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” hold true?

Book excerpt: Change can be hard. It is often difficult to conceive performing tasks in a different order, in a different place, at a different time, or in a different manner altogether. And this is only for the individual. When we talk about organizational change the difficulty increases exponentially with each individual that is added to the equation. This book uses as its basis a fable – the story is not untrue, but it is not fact either. It is a story in which the group dynamics are real, the problems are valid, and the solutions legitimate. It asks you to consider a complex environment with multiple classes interacting between functional units with requirements that are perceived as exclusive and unique, and personalities that reinforce presumed boundaries. It asks you to follow along as all these individuals work together using the basics of four quality methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and Business Process Reengineering) to address the problems they face, discover solutions together, and move forward in their continuous performance improvement journey. "Lean Acres is fantastic in its appeal and innovative in its writing style. Jim Bowie introduces an amazing convention by using talking animals on a farm (“Lean Acres Farm”) to represent “real” stakeholders and teach Strategy and Process Improvement methodologies (Balanced Scorecard, the StrateTree, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, the Theory of Constraints, and Business Process Reengineering) in ways that are easy to understand and enjoyable to learn. His step-by-step guidance through the each tool and philosophy make this book essential for Leaders, Managers, Quality Professionals, and anyone interested in improving performance in any industry. The message is simple, the illustrations are an excellent complement to the story, and the Reader interaction (Pre- and Post-Tests coupled with Rest, Reflect, and Relate sections at the end of each chapter) reinforce education, application, and relevance. Take a trip to Lean Acres today – you will be better for it." Mikel J. Harry Co-creator of Six Sigma and best-selling author.

Book excerpt: Volume of spiritual essays published in 1922. Frank William Boreham (3 March 1871, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England - 18 May 1959, Melbourne, Victoria) was a Baptist preacher best known in New Zealand, Australia, and England. (His birth coincided with the end of the Franco-Prussian War and he could say in later life that, "Salvoes of artillery and peals of bells echoed across Europe on the morning of my birth.") He was one of 10 children. Boreham heard the great American preacher Dwight L. Moody during his youth. Another remarkable occasion was when he was badly injured and spent considerable time in hospital recovering, nursed by a Roman Catholic woman who widened his insight of ecumenism. Boreham became a Baptist preacher after conversion to Christianity while working in London. Boreham was probably the last student interviewed by Charles Spurgeon for entry into his Pastor's College. After graduation, Boreham accepted a ministry at Mosgiel church, Dunedin, New Zealand, in March 1895 and there began his prolific writings initially for the local newspaper. He later was a pastor in Hobart, Tasmania, and then on mainland Australia in Melbourne at Armadale and Kew.** **....summary from wikipedia
