Book Synopsis Denver Metropolitan Area Asphalt Pavement Mix Design Recommendations by : Colorado Asphalt Pavement Association. Metro Mix Design Task Force
Download or read book Denver Metropolitan Area Asphalt Pavement Mix Design Recommendations written by Colorado Asphalt Pavement Association. Metro Mix Design Task Force and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has been estimated that over 60 asphalt mix designs are being specified by the various local governments and design consultants in the Denver metropolitan area. As material batches are ordered for delivery to these various agencies, the producers are required to constantly change their mixing formulations and plant operations. This constantly changing process results in inefficiencies in production time and cost to the buyer, as well as variability in the process. The problem is intensified when towns and communities order small amounts of material for a local street project. In March, 1994 a Government Forum was held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Colorado Asphalt Pavement Association. At this forum, a decision was made to organize a Task Force to address this problem and provide recommendations for asphalt paving materials in the Denver Metropolitan area. This report presents the recommendations of that Task Force. The recommendations include gradation, asphalt cement type, additives, RAP, voids, and laboratory design properties. Four standard mixes were identified.
Book Synopsis Asphalt Pavements by : Patrick Lavin
Download or read book Asphalt Pavements written by Patrick Lavin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-09-02 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asphalt Pavements provides the know-how behind the design, production and maintenance of asphalt pavements and parking lots. Incorporating the latest technology, this book is the first to focus primarily on the design, production and maintenance of low-volume roads and parking areas. Special attention is given to determining the traffic capacity, required thickness and asphalt mixture type for parking applications. Topics covered include: material information such as binder properties, testing grading and selection; construction information such as mixing plant operation, proportioning, mixture placement and compaction; and design information such as thickness and mixture design methods and guidelines on applying these to highways, city streets and parking Areas. It is an essential practical guide aimed at those engineers and architects who are not directly involved in the asphalt industry, but who nonetheless need to have a good general knowledge of the subject. Asphalt Pavements provides a novice with enough information to completely design, construct and specify an asphalt pavement.
Book Synopsis High Performance Hot Mix Asphalt Pavements for Intersections by : Timothy Aschenbrener
Download or read book High Performance Hot Mix Asphalt Pavements for Intersections written by Timothy Aschenbrener and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A program has begun in Colorado to prove that HMA pavements can be effectively constructed at intersections and provide significant benefits to the owner. To many highway agencies, performance, construction speed, and cost are the three key issues to consider when rehabilitating or reconstructing high traffic intersections. Therefore, demonstration projects were organized by the Colorado Asphalt Pavement Association (CAPA) to demonstrate performance, construction speed and cost advantages over PCC pavements at high traffic intersections in Colorado. This paper documents the planning, design, and construction processes that were followed to successfully build an HMA pavement at an intersection carrying over 7.7 million 18 kip (8200 kg) ESALs for a 20-year design.
Download or read book Gravel Roads written by Ken Skorseth and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this manual is to provide clear and helpful information for maintaining gravel roads. Very little technical help is available to small agencies that are responsible for managing these roads. Gravel road maintenance has traditionally been "more of an art than a science" and very few formal standards exist. This manual contains guidelines to help answer the questions that arise concerning gravel road maintenance such as: What is enough surface crown? What is too much? What causes corrugation? The information is as nontechnical as possible without sacrificing clear guidelines and instructions on how to do the job right.
