Book Synopsis To Tempt A Gentleman by : Kate Huntington
Download or read book To Tempt A Gentleman written by Kate Huntington and published by Regency. This book was released on 2014-11-20 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simply Irresistible When an elderly relative passes away, the last thing Sir Michael Stewart expects is a bequest--especially a lushly attractive young woman determined to move into his home! The old lady's former companion and housekeeper, Catriona Grant has promised to take care of him now, but Michael doesn't need her help: The stubborn lass has far too many ideas about letting the sunshine in and chasing the doldrums out. Widowed and content at his remote and admittedly rather bleak estate on Scotland's coast, Michael has only one solution--finding Miss Grant a husband of her own. But letting her go isn't as easy as he imagined--especially when he discovers that what passed for contentment before has been shattered by fantasies of the sweet tilt of Catriona's lips, and the soft curves of her body. . . Praise for the Novels of Kate Huntington "Kate Huntington's reputation for frothy, fun-filled frolics is well earned with this charming tale of an amazingly stubborn family that doesn't realize just how much they care for each other. Fast-paced and fun."--Romantic Times on Town Bronze "Ms. Huntington has a flare for character and dialogue that puts her in the upper echelon of regency writers."--Rendezvous on Lady Diana's Darlings

Book Synopsis A Gentleman's Word by : Nilanjana Sengupta
Download or read book A Gentleman's Word written by Nilanjana Sengupta and published by Institute of Southeast Asian Studies. This book was released on 2012 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The great Indian nationalist leader Subhas Chandra Bose arrived in Singapore in 1943 to revitalize the Indian National Army (INA). Taking the opportunity of the Japanese occupation of parts of Southeast Asia, he launched armed struggle against British colonial rule in India. Two years later, that attempt failed at the eastern gates of India. Yet, it was a temporary failure because the INA helped set in motion a series of developments within India. These would culminate in its freedom in a further two years. Bose is household name in India. He is remembered in Southeast Asia as well, particularly among Indians. However, while his contributions to India's independence movement have been recorded exhaustively, less is known about the legacy that he left behind in Southeast Asia. This book seeks to fill that gap in the international understanding of a great Indian nationalist and pan-Asianist. It records how participation in the nationalist struggle invested Southeast Asian Indians with a rare sense of dignity and helped foster a mushrooming of militant trade unions, making it difficult for the returning British planters to perpetuate their control over what had been a docile workforce. The INA's Rani of Jhansi movement proved to be a pioneering effort at drawing Southeast Asian Indian women out of their traditional roles and expectations. It inspired some of them to take up mainstream roles for the cause of equality and emancipation. A Gentleman's Word retraces this journey of self-discovery of those who were inspired by Subhas Chandra Bose. Book Synopsis The Clash of Gods by : Thomas F. Mathews
Download or read book The Clash of Gods written by Thomas F. Mathews and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2022-09-13 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between the third and sixth centuries, the ancient gods, goddesses, and heroes who had populated the imagination of humankind for a millennium were replaced by a new imagery of Christ and his saints. Thomas Mathews explores the many different, often surprising, artistic images and religious interpretations of Christ during this period. He challenges the accepted theory of the "Emperor Mystique," which, interpreting Christ as king, derives the vocabulary of Christian art from the propagandistic imagery of the Roman emperor. This revised edition contains a new preface by the author and a new chapter on the origin and development of icons in private domestic cult.

Lady Claire Trevelyan has had to deal with betrayal before, but none is quite so painful as the belief that Gloria Meriwether-Astor deserted her and her friends and left them to die under the waters of Venice. But when she learns that Gloria has vanished, can she do the right thing and attempt to find the missing heiress? Of course she must. But this does not sit well with the gentlemen in her life, who had every reason to believe she planned to settle down at last. Suddenly Claire finds herself without a career, a fiancé, or the confidence in her own abilities that has carried her this far. Worse, Captain Ian Hollys is suffering from the megrims and cannot seem to recover from his dreadful experience as a prisoner. Alice’s dream of captaining her own ship in England is scuttled. Tigg is struggling with a revelation that has turned his life upside down—and may result in a betrayal more harrowing than any the flock has yet seen. Will the bond of friendship that has brought Claire and the flock together be the very thing that separates them for good? Or will love tip the balance and prove that what really defines a gentleman of means is none other than a lady of resources? “I have to repeat how excellent this series is with the female characters. Not just because they’re good and capable and interesting, but because they’re also different.” Fangs for the Fantasy, on A Gentleman of Means A Gentleman of Means is the eighth novel in the Magnificent Devices steampunk series. No strong language, just a very proper kiss or two and a satisfying solution. If you like books by Gail Carriger, Lindsay Buroker, or Emma Jane Holloway, you’re in the right place. Enjoy!
