Download or read book The Pastor's Sandal Path written by Father Henry C. Schmid and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-04-16 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Pastors Sandal Path relates my envisioning of God in nature. I was privileged to grow up with my sister and five brothers on a farm where our parents instilled in us the presence of God in our daily lives, as well as in the majesty of Gods nature. My early schooling took place in a one-room country school where our fantastic teacher incorporated the beauty of God and nature in the classroom and on field trips. In the upper grades, the Dominican sisters assisted my parents in laying a solid faith foundation. After graduation, I entered St. Mary of the Lake Seminary Mundelein where my faith was deepened, my love of Jesus increased, and Gods presence in nature more keenly perceived. I hope my perceptions of God in nature will help the reader to encounter God in their ordinary experiences of life.

Book Synopsis The Smoking Diaries Volume 4 by : Simon Gray
Download or read book The Smoking Diaries Volume 4 written by Simon Gray and published by Granta Books. This book was released on 2013-01-23 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coda is Simon Gray's powerful account of the year in which he struggled to come to terms with terminal lung cancer. Darkly comic depictions of the medical team are set against joyful accounts of sunlit days with his beloved wife, Victoria. Written with exceptional candour and a poignant reluctance to leave this world behind, Simon Gray's Coda is as life-affirming as it is heart-rending. Sadly, Coda was published posthumously: Gray died in August 2008.

Download or read book Sandals, Shoes and Other Leatherwork from the Coptic Monastery Deir El-Bachit written by A. J. Veldmeijer and published by Sidestone Press. This book was released on 2011 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Coptic monastery and cemetery Deir el-Bachit stands on the hilltop of Dra' Abu el-Naga, the well-known necropolis in Qurna (West Bank, Luxor). It is the largest Coptic monastery complex preserved in Western Thebes and the first monastery that has been systematically investigated. The excavation of the monastery was started as a DFG-Project des Ägyptologischen Instituts der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Muenchen in close collaboration with the Deutsches Archäologisches Institut Abteilung Kairo. Until the start of the investigations in 2001 with a survey, little research was done. After three seasons of preliminary research, full archaeological research was started in 2004. The leatherwork was studied in 2007, the present volume of which presents the results. The book consists of two parts: the analysis and a detailed catalogue, including colour images of all finds and, where necessary, line drawings. The finds are analysed within the framework of the excavation as well as within the frameworks of the Ancient Egyptian Leatherwork Project and the Ancient Egyptian Footwear Project (www.leatherandshoes.nl).

Book Synopsis Elvis Is Dead and I Don't Feel So Good Myself by : Lewis Grizzard
Download or read book Elvis Is Dead and I Don't Feel So Good Myself written by Lewis Grizzard and published by NewSouth Books. This book was released on 2011-08-01 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 1950s were simple times to grow up. For Lewis Grizzard and his buddies, gallivanting meant hanging out at the local store, eating Zagnut candy bars and drinking "Big Orange bellywashers." About the worst thing a kid ever did was smoke rabbit tobacco rolled in paper torn from a brown grocery sack, or maybe slick back his hair into a ducktail and try gyrating his hips like Elvis. But then assassinations, war, civil rights, free love, and drugs rocked the old order. And as they did, Grizzard frequently felt lost and confused. In place of Elvis, the Pied Piper of his generation, Grizzard now found wormy-looking, long-haired English kids who performed either half-naked or dressed like Zasu Pitts. Elvis Is Dead and I Don't Feel So Good Myself is the witty, satiric, nostalgic account of Grizzard's efforts to survive in a changing world. Sex, music, clothes, entertainment, and life itself receive the Grizzard treatment. In this, his sixth book, Grizzard was never funnier or more in tune with his readers. He might not have felt so good himself, but his social commentary and humor can still make the rest of us feel just fine.
