Book Synopsis Deformation Quantization Modules by : Masaki Kashiwara
Download or read book Deformation Quantization Modules written by Masaki Kashiwara and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On a complex manifold $(X,\mathcal{O}_X)$, a $\mathrm{DQ}$-module is a module (in the derived sense) over an algebroid stack locally equivalent to the sheaf $\mathcal{O}_X[[\hbar]]$ endowed with a star-product. The book treats relative finiteness, duality and index theorems for $\mathrm{DQ}$-modules, showing in particular the functoriality of the Hochschild class in this framework and studying in detail holonomic modules in the symplectic case. Hence, these notes could be considered both as an introduction to noncommutative complex analytic geometry and to the study of microdifferential systems on complex Poisson manifolds.

Book Synopsis Deformation Quantization for Actions of $R^d$ by : Marc Aristide Rieffel
Download or read book Deformation Quantization for Actions of $R^d$ written by Marc Aristide Rieffel and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1993 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work describes a general construction of a deformation quantization for any Poisson bracket on a manifold which comes from an action of R ]d on that manifold. These deformation quantizations are strict, in the sense that the deformed product of any two functions is again a function and that there are corresponding involutions and operator norms. Many of the techniques involved are adapted from the theory of pseudo-differential operators. The construction is shown to have many favorable properties. A number of specific examples are described, ranging from basic ones such as quantum disks, quantum tori, and quantum spheres, to aspects of quantum groups.

Book Synopsis Quantization, Geometry and Noncommutative Structures in Mathematics and Physics by : Alexander Cardona
Download or read book Quantization, Geometry and Noncommutative Structures in Mathematics and Physics written by Alexander Cardona and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-10-26 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents various ongoing approaches to the vast topic of quantization, which is the process of forming a quantum mechanical system starting from a classical one, and discusses their numerous fruitful interactions with mathematics. The opening chapter introduces the various forms of quantization and their interactions with each other and with mathematics.A first approach to quantization, called deformation quantization, consists of viewing the Planck constant as a small parameter. This approach provides a deformation of the structure of the algebra of classical observables rather than a radical change in the nature of the observables. When symmetries come into play, deformation quantization needs to be merged with group actions, which is presented in chapter 2, by Simone Gutt. The noncommutativity arising from quantization is the main concern of noncommutative geometry. Allowing for the presence of symmetries requires working with principal fiber bundles in a non-commutative setup, where Hopf algebras appear naturally. This is the topic of chapter 3, by Christian Kassel. Nichols algebras, a special type of Hopf algebras, are the subject of chapter 4, by Nicolás Andruskiewitsch. The purely algebraic approaches given in the previous chapters do not take the geometry of space-time into account. For this purpose a special treatment using a more geometric point of view is required. An approach to field quantization on curved space-time, with applications to cosmology, is presented in chapter 5 in an account of the lectures of Abhay Ashtekar that brings a complementary point of view to non-commutativity.An alternative quantization procedure is known under the name of string theory. In chapter 6 its supersymmetric version is presented. Superstrings have drawn the attention of many mathematicians, due to its various fruitful interactions with algebraic geometry, some of which are described here. The remaining chapters discuss further topics, as the Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism and direct products of spectral triples. This volume addresses both physicists and mathematicians and serves as an introduction to ongoing research in very active areas of mathematics and physics at the border line between geometry, topology, algebra and quantum field theory.

Book Synopsis Kontsevich’s Deformation Quantization and Quantum Field Theory by : Nima Moshayedi
Download or read book Kontsevich’s Deformation Quantization and Quantum Field Theory written by Nima Moshayedi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-08-11 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to deformation quantization and its relation to quantum field theory, with a focus on the constructions of Kontsevich and Cattaneo & Felder. This subject originated from an attempt to understand the mathematical structure when passing from a commutative classical algebra of observables to a non-commutative quantum algebra of observables. Developing deformation quantization as a semi-classical limit of the expectation value for a certain observable with respect to a special sigma model, the book carefully describes the relationship between the involved algebraic and field-theoretic methods. The connection to quantum field theory leads to the study of important new field theories and to insights in other parts of mathematics such as symplectic and Poisson geometry, and integrable systems. Based on lectures given by the author at the University of Zurich, the book will be of interest to graduate students in mathematics or theoretical physics. Readers will be able to begin the first chapter after a basic course in Analysis, Linear Algebra and Topology, and references are provided for more advanced prerequisites.

The scientific program included 25 plenary talks and 40 parallel sessions during which 400 papers were presented. The papers that appear in this book cover all aspects of gravitation, from mathematical issues to recent observations and experiments.
Book Synopsis Photons In Fock Space And Beyond (In 3 Volumes) by : Reinhard Honegger
Download or read book Photons In Fock Space And Beyond (In 3 Volumes) written by Reinhard Honegger and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2015-04-22 with total page 2353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The three-volume major reference “Photons in Fock Space and Beyond” undertakes a new mathematical and conceptual foundation of the theory of light emphasizing mesoscopic radiation systems. The quantum optical notions are generalized beyond Fock representations where the richness of an infinite dimensional quantum field system, with its mathematical difficulties and theoretical possibilities, is fully taken into account. It aims at a microscopic formulation of a mesoscopic model class which covers in principle all stages of the generation and propagation of light within a unified and well-defined conceptual frame. The dynamics of the interacting systems is founded — according to original works of the authors — on convergent perturbation series and describes the developments of the quantized microscopic as well as the classical collective degrees of freedom at the same time. The achieved theoretical unification fits especially to laser and microwave applications inheriting objective information over quantum noise.A special advancement is the incorporation of arbitrary multiply connected cavities where ideal conductor boundary conditions are imposed. From there arises a new category of classical and quantized field parts, apparently not treated in Quantum Electrodynamics before. In combination with gauge theory, the additional “cohomological fields” explain topological quantum effects in superconductivity. Further applications are to be expected for optoelectronic and optomechanical systems.

Book Synopsis Quantum Field Theory and Noncommutative Geometry by : Ursula Carow-Watamura
Download or read book Quantum Field Theory and Noncommutative Geometry written by Ursula Carow-Watamura and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-02-21 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume reflects the growing collaboration between mathematicians and theoretical physicists to treat the foundations of quantum field theory using the mathematical tools of q-deformed algebras and noncommutative differential geometry. A particular challenge is posed by gravity, which probably necessitates extension of these methods to geometries with minimum length and therefore quantization of space. This volume builds on the lectures and talks that have been given at a recent meeting on "Quantum Field Theory and Noncommutative Geometry." A considerable effort has been invested in making the contributions accessible to a wider community of readers - so this volume will not only benefit researchers in the field but also postgraduate students and scientists from related areas wishing to become better acquainted with this field.
Book Synopsis The Realm of Sedenions by : David R Ely
Download or read book The Realm of Sedenions written by David R Ely and published by David R Ely. This book was released on 2024-05-22 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Realm of Sedenions: A Look Into Higher-Complex Numbers" dives into the fascinating world of sedenions, a 16-dimensional number system with unique properties. The book explores the motivation behind studying sedenions, their formal definition with addition and non-commutative, non-associative multiplication, and how they differ from familiar number systems like real and complex numbers. While sedenions lack widespread practical applications yet, the book delves into potential areas of exploration in physics and computer science. It also highlights the challenges mathematicians face due to the complex multiplication rules and the lack of a straightforward geometric interpretation for these high-dimensional numbers. The book provides historical context by mentioning James Joseph Sylvester, who introduced sedenions. While directly visualizing 16 dimensions is difficult, the book discusses potential approaches like subspace projections and geometric analogies to gain a better understanding. Exercises tailored to the audience's level and a resource section for further exploration round out the book, making it a valuable resource for anyone curious about venturing beyond the realm of familiar numbers.
