From the perspective of a Spanish language learner, this book achieves its goal. It is concise yet thorough, and provides insight into pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and context. For the extremely keen independent learner, the book also provides activities that can be completed to practice the material taught within. It is certainly nice to be provided with recommended activities to improve your skills. The book concludes with a vocabulary section, which is essentially a brief Spanish - English dictionary. While far from complete, it does contain the most commonly used words in Spanish, and is a valuable tool for the beginner.
