Book Synopsis The Poems of W.B. Yeats by : Peter McDonald
Download or read book The Poems of W.B. Yeats written by Peter McDonald and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-08-18 with total page 752 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this multi-volume edition, the poetry of W.B. Yeats (1865–1939) is presented in full, with newly-established texts and detailed, wide-ranging commentary. Yeats began to write verse in the nineteenth century, and over time his own arrangements of poems repeatedly revised and rearranged both texts and canon. This edition of Yeats’s poetry presents all his verse, both published and unpublished, including a generous selection of textual variants from the many manuscript and printed sources. The edition also supplies the most extensive commentary on Yeats’s poetry to date, explaining specific references, and setting poems in their contexts; it also gives an account of the vast range of both literary and historical influences at work on the verse. The poems are presented in order of composition, and major revisions or rewritings of poems result in separate inclusions (in chronological sequence) for these writings as they were subsequently reconceived by the poet. This first volume collects Yeats’s poetry of the 1880s, from his ambitious and extensive juvenilia (including hitherto little-noticed dramatic poems) to his earliest published pieces, leading to his first substantial book of verse. The pastoral romance of classically-inflected early work like ‘The Island of Statues’ is succeeded in these years by the Irish mythic material that finds its largest canvas in the mini-epic ‘The Wanderings of Oisin’. In Yeats’s work through the 1880s, an adolescent poet’s youthful absorption in Romantic poetry is replaced by a commitment to esoteric religious speculation and Irish political nationalism. This edition allows readers to see Yeats’s emergence as a poet step by step in compelling detail in relation to his literary influences – including, significantly, the Anglo-Irish poetry of the nineteenth century. The commentary provides an extensive view of Yeats’s developing personal, cultural, and historical worlds as the poems gain in maturity and depth. From the first attempts at verse of a teenage boy to the fully accomplished writings of an original poet standing on the verge of popular success with poems such as ‘The Lake Isle of Innisfree’, Yeats’s poetry is displayed here in unprecedented fullness and detail.

Book Synopsis Bible Wisdom: PSALMS of Praise and Power Newly Translated from the Greek Old Testament by : John Howard Reid
Download or read book Bible Wisdom: PSALMS of Praise and Power Newly Translated from the Greek Old Testament written by John Howard Reid and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2010-01-31 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How many Psalms are there in the Bible? Nobody knows. Psalms are scattered all through the Old Testament, but this new translation is concerned only with the Psalms in the Biblical book of that title. Even here, however, the actual number is uncertain. Some Psalms have been duplicated, some have been joined together, others split apart. Most Bibles number the Psalms from 1 to 150. Which numbers correspond to which Psalms, however, differs from Protestant to Catholic and Orthodox versions. For easy reference, both numbers are used in this book. Disregarding duplications and material that fails to qualify as either powerful or praiseworthy, 84 uplifting Psalms are given new life and meaning in this inspired and inspiring translation from the ancient Greek Old Testament, the Septuagint. Neither the original meaning nor the poetry is lost or diluted, for each selected Psalm is rendered in both a literal translation and a more poetic paraphrase.

Book Synopsis The Gospel of John 3:16 by : Randy A. Barnes
Download or read book The Gospel of John 3:16 written by Randy A. Barnes and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2024-10-07 with total page 479 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The gospel is being preached, however, the Bible makes it clear that it is the “truth of the gospel” that has to be proclaimed to the world before it ends and warns of those preaching a “different gospel.” This true gospel was being followed when Christ’s followers were first called Christians after He left earth and only those adhering to this same gospel will be translated when He returns. In a thoughtful word-by-word commentary on the most famous and most quoted verse in the Bible, Randy Barnes, with no denominational predisposition, shows how a correct understanding of John 3:16 clearly illuminates this identical gospel when the paradigms of customs and traditions are eliminated from its interpretations. Using biblical hermeneutics and contextual juxtaposition as tools, Barnes shows how the Bible gives its own interpretation of not only of John 3:16, but all other verses, as well. Using only scriptural references, Barnes demonstrates how God has used both the Jewish and Christian faiths to spread the story of the true gospel to the world by examining over two dozen doctrinal issues—from the earth’s creation to its recreation, from the books of Genesis to Revelation. The book is formatted with both a comprehensive table of contents and an exhaustive index to enable its use as reference for Bible study. Supplemental information such as diagrams and illustrations are also included to assist in your reading enjoyment. Christians will find excellent support for foundational principles as well as be challenged in much traditional thinking.

Book Synopsis Making Disciples Through Home Assemblies by : ,Dwight
Download or read book Making Disciples Through Home Assemblies written by ,Dwight and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-05-03 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Statistics on church growth reveal some startling facts: Overall church attendance in America is declining. The number of those who claim they are done with churches is growing. Those who list “none” as religious affiliation are increasing. After COVID-19, some are reluctant to return to church services in buildings. What if you had a way to make disciples for Jesus in your neighborhood? Is there a way to reach those who have left the churches or who will not go back to a church building? Yes. Making Disciples Through Home Assemblies can show you how. The book is based on the biblical patterns of the first-century disciples who were highly effective in disciple-making in obedience to Jesus’ command to make disciples and be His witnesses (Matthew 28:18–20 and Acts 1:8). Studying Acts and other New Testament verses, the authors show that those disciples believed that making disciples and growing the Kingdom of God was the number one priority. The authors also show that individuals met in homes in the absence of church buildings and that any believer can become a disciple-maker for Jesus. Making Disciples Through Home Assemblies contains biblical rationale for home assemblies, material that can be used for training yourself and others to lead a home assembly, and the biblically based study guide for your home assembly meetings is included. The material in this book has been extensively tested for over two years with audiences of diverse ages, and many individuals have been successful in creating their own home assemblies and making disciples for Jesus across the United States. Now you too can start a home assembly and teach others how to become disciples for Jesus.
