Book Synopsis Equipment-device Task Commonality Analysis and Transfer of Training by : Paul W. Caro
Download or read book Equipment-device Task Commonality Analysis and Transfer of Training written by Paul W. Caro and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Procedures were developed to enable training personnel systematically and objectively to determine the potential utility of training devices for teaching how to perform missions in operational equipment. The procedures allow comparison of operational task stimulus and response elements with corresponding elements in synthetic training equipment. On the basis of such information, training programs consistent with the psychological principles underlying transfer of training may be developed. The procedures, termed task commonality analysis, were developed in connection with an Army rotary wing instrument flight training program.

Book excerpt: Two studies were conducted to evaluate a fixed-wing instrument procedures training device and to develop a training program for use with the device. In the first study, a group of trainees at the U.S. Army Aviation School who recieved synthetic instrument flight training with the new device were compared with a control group of trainees who did not. The second study was concerned with development and evaluation of an instrument flight training program designed especially for use with the new device. It appears that the training concepts have application to other programs utilizing training devices. (Modified author abstract).

Book Synopsis Simulation in Aviation Training by : Florian Jentsch
Download or read book Simulation in Aviation Training written by Florian Jentsch and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-05-15 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simulations have been a fixture of aviation training for many years. Advances in simulator technology now enable modern flight simulation to mimic very closely the look and feel of real world flight operations. In spite of this, responsible researchers, trainers, and simulation developers should look beyond mere simulator fidelity to produce meaningful training outcomes. Optimal simulation training development can unquestionably benefit from knowledge and understanding of past, present, and future research in this topic area. As a result, this volume of key writings is invaluable as a reference, to help guide exploration of critical research in the field. By providing a mix of classic articles that stand the test of time, and recent writings that illuminate current issues, this volume informs a broad range of topics relevant to simulation training in aviation.

Book Synopsis Device-task Fidelity and Transfer of Training by : Wallace W. Prophet
Download or read book Device-task Fidelity and Transfer of Training written by Wallace W. Prophet and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of the research was to evaluate the training effectiveness of two cockpit procedures training devices, differing greatly in their physical fidelity (and, consequently, cost), in the teaching of ground cockpit procedures for a twin-engine, turboprop, fixed wing aircraft. One group of students received training in cockpit procedures in a relatively expensive, sophisticated, high-fidelity, computerized cockpit procedures trainer, while another group were trained in an inexpensive, low-fidelity mockup of the aircraft cockpit. Their subsequent performance in the actual aircraft was compared with that of a control group who received all of their procedures training in the aircraft. Results indicated that both training devices produced significant transfer of training, in terms of error and time reduction, in performance in the actual aircraft. There were no significant differences in training effectiveness of the two devices, in spite of their great differences in physical fidelity and cost. Implications for the design of procedures training devices and associated training programs are discussed. (Author).
